Ask PoG

Someone recently asked me if you could use the effect of a Last Will with a Swordsman of Aile. Yes, if you use a monster as tribute to use its effect and you are the owner of the tributed card (not one taken with Change of Heart or Monster Reborn) then you may use a Last Will card to bring another card to the field. Since both the effect of tributing a card for +700 atk and the use of last will’s magic are main phase actions, you can use them again and again for as many last will’s you have in play.

Example:

I have The Little Swordsman of Aile on the field, I use its effect to raise its own attack by 700 at the cost of my man eater bug which is on my side of the field. My Swordsman is now 1500 attack. I have 2 Last Will cards in my hand and I play the first one, no counters to stop it so I get a Kuriboh from my deck to the field. I use the second Last Will to do it again this time getting an electric lizard. I now tribute both of those cards on my side of the field to gain 1400 attack, making my Swordsman 2900 in attack. This effect only lasts for THIS turn but during this turn I can attack with all 2900 attack.

Once, using 2 cards on my field, 2 last wills (making it another 2 cards on my field), monster reborn to use another card on my field, flip of  magician of faith to get my monster reborn back and use another card on my field…. Lastly using the magician of faith as another card..

Adding that all up means I tributed 7 cards to get 4900 attack bonus making my Little Swordsman 5700 attack… Sadly he had Mirror Force and I lost but it was very interesting and he congratulated me for my effort

So, hope this helps anyone who is wondering about using Last Will and Swordsman of Aile.. but don’t forget.. EACH last will card gives you a card from the deck to the field PROVIDING at least one monster of yours died during that turn. 1 Last Will card can not give endless monsters and no matter how many monsters die, you only get ONE effect PER last will played.
