Deck Fix: Kuraz Kontrol

Hello, everyone. I'm sorry you haven't seen a fix in a while. I've been away from my house for a while with spotty Internet access, but I've figured out a way to get things done, so here's just one of the many deck fixes I have for you:

Hi, I introduce to you:

Wanted to make a deck that utilizes Kuraz's effect. Haven't seen any other variants of him yet, so wanted to be the first to make a competitive control deck. The speed of the deck has made it really competitive, so far it has done very well against DAD, LS, SS and some others, but still to be tested against Monarchs and GB. Tell me what you think please. Thx!

This is something. The only other deck type I’ve seen featuring Kuraz was a Magical Explosion deck. Nice to see something else with this thing. While the deck is a good one, there are always improvements to be made:

Cards to cut:

- 1 Caius the Shadow Monarch

- 1 Soul Exchange

- 1 Dark Coffin

I cut 3 cards. To be honest, I really didn’t want to do anything to this deck because everything seems to be in place and tight to the point where there’s almost nothing that I need to do to it.

Caius the Shadow Monarch is one card in here that I really don’t think you need 3 of, especially since your deck already has an enormous amount of Tribute monsters (3 Kuraz, 3 Caius, 2 Dasher, 2 Malicious), Malicious being the only one that you probably won’t Tribute for. Besides, 6 level 5+ Dark monsters is still enough for Dark Grepher. (Interestingly enough, most decks that employ Dark Grepher just use it to fill the Graveyard which is not the case here.)

Soul Exchange, even though I already stated that you have so many Tribute monsters here, probably won’t help you out too much, especially since your deck seems to be able to maintain field presence fairly easily and get that Tribute bait through Malicious, Limit Reverse, and Dasher. One, I hope, should be enough. (Besides, we just need a bit of space.)

Dark Coffin is an interesting choice for the deck. Taking advantage of Kuraz’s effect in combination with Dark Coffin’s. I like it. Unfortunately, it can be a bit unreliable and dead at times, especially with this deck (and the fact that you’ll probably drop Kuraz a few times before you see the first one, but with all the draw power you’ll run through, that shouldn’t be too big an issue).

Cards to add:

+ 1 Card Destruction / Hand Destruction

+ 2 Bottomless Trap Hole

I added three cards, bringing you back to 40.

Card Destruction / Hand Destruction is for that rare dead hand that you may get with this deck, and you’ll probably get them often with this many Tribute monsters. That’s just a temporary solution. Dumping a few things doesn’t hurt, either.

Bottomless Trap Hole is to deal with some opposing threats like a quick Gyzarus drop or something. A lot of drops can’t be predicted. It’s always nice to have an answer to things. Book of Moon and Enemy Controller are acceptable substitutes here as is Hand Destruction.

Well, that’s all I have for now. This is one of those decks that I really couldn’t do too much to it, but maybe seeing this will inspire someone else to do something crazy with one of their decks. Or they’ll netdeck the crap out of this. Either way, there’ll be some diversity. Questions, comments, etc. can be sent to darkdestructionv30@yahoo.com

Until next time….
