Dark Paladin

Monday

XX-Saber Boggart Knight opens the week. We have a Level 4, Earth attributed, Beast-Warrior type monster, who has a nice 1900 attack and a defense of 1000. 1900 attack on a Level 4 on its own isn't going to win you many contests but...

When Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower X-Saber Monster from your Hand, so that's a good ability. You can't use Boggart Knight for a Synchro Summon unless it is for an X-Saber Synchro, but that's likely what you're using him for anyway. Solid enough tech for the Deck it belongs in.

XX_Saber Boggart Knight

This is one of those cards that they made as a promo to help a deck taht really needed no help at this point. We have a 1900 ATK EARTH Beast-Warrior of level 4. Those stats right there are pretty good, as 1900 is standard for a big attacker and making it an x-saber is great.

The effect is that whenever you Normal Summon it you can Special Summon a level 4 or lower X-Saber monste from your hand, and you can only use the Knight to make X-Saber SYnchros.

Now, the main combo with this card is to get out an easy Faultroll, usually only available from Gardestrike (another promo) or One For One into Ragigura or Palomar. This makes the deck that much faster and more consistent at the same time.

I honestly think that running 3 of him is a bit overkill, as he himself is not the game winner, but merely a means to an end. If he was a Warrior, then we would have a total winner, as Wayne can then play with him, but as it is, the X-Saber deck is looking to be a beast to beat and I look forward to it's interaction with Infernity decks.

XX-Saber Boggart Knight …

Remember Marauding Captain? … DO u? … yeah, u probably do. This guy is similar in a way, as he helps to swarm the field quickly in one turn. But while the Captain could help perform a baby lock, Boggart here is just much stronger, so can hold his own better in a fight. Or he drops an X-Saber Tuner and goes for the Synchro summon (provided its for an X-Saber Synchro). These are all well and good things, but it suffers from the same hiccup that players of the Captain felt – hand depletion. Right now, only Infernity decks enjoy the benefits of having the smallest hand possible. Pretty much every other deck begs for a draw engine of some sort and wants to keep their hand as loaded as possible. Overextending can leave u very wide open and vulnerable if things don’t work out in your favor …

However, that could be said for pretty much ANY play in Yu-gi-oh. Conservative is nice, but in this day and age with the game, continually holding back and “waiting” for your big push will have u kicking yourself when your opponent wipes u out the very next turn because u failed to get aggressive when u had the chance. Boggart is a good and strong addition to the X-Sabers. Effect ain’t game breaking, but with 1900 ATK - he’s one of their stronger draft picks, and kicks up the X-Saber speed, which is what most decks desperately want in the first place.

XX-Saber Boggart Knight, weird name but a really good card. 1900 ATK, with a mere 1000 DEF, however when its Normal Summoned you can special summon any level 4 or lower X-Saber monster from your hand, but it can only be used as Synchro Material for an X-Saber synchro monster. I don't think this card could get much better, unless it was a Warrior monster, then you could use Reinforcements of the Army with it, but unfortunately its a Beast-Warrior. This provides 2 free X-Saber monsters for XX-Saber Faultroll, allowing you to spam the field with your Sabers and even pull off some Synchros. Another interesting combo you can do is with XX-Saber Ragigura. When Ragigura is summoned, you can recycle an X-Saber from the graveyard to your hand. Then you can summon Faultroll, and if you have Gottoms on the field, you have the infinite loop with Gottoms, Faultroll and Ragigura. There are a lot of things you can really do with this card, I highly suggest it for you X-Saber players out there!

XX-Saber Boggart Knight

To kick off the week, we're reviewing the latest Sneak promo, also available to those unlucky souls who pulled it in super rare form...

This is like Marauding Captain, except with a huge power boost and X-Saber support! This is a great card for those X-Saber fans out there, and will make the deck move much faster. You can also pull out a quick Synchro. The fact that he can't make non-Saber Synchros can be annoying at times when you really need someone like Goyo, but it'll usually be fine because your deck gets faster, stronger, and gets better synergy.

Art: Meh
Fun Fact: We call him Booger Knight. We're so mature.
Tomorrow: He looks funny. What a vague hint.

Monday: XX-Saber Boggart Knight

Note: I stole this snippet from my blog

The terribly named Boggart Knight has an interesting and powerful effect. I’m not entirely sure what sort of naming convention the X-Sabers are following (the names seem terrible) but the strategy itself is firmly going to entrench itself into the Tier 0/Tier S (cream of the crop) category.
Boggart Knight possesses an optional effect that is very powerful for getting out Faultroll or synching up for a monster such as Urbellum or Hyunlei. The 1900 ATK itself is nothing to sneeze at either. 1900 is the current sweet spot for monsters since it allows for easy pushes over Laquari, Shura, Gearframe, and other threats.

When viewing the scope of TCG-exclusive additions to X-Sabers along with THSD’s original cards, it seems rather short-sighted to me to include so much support so soon. X-Sabers already had a solid field presence booster with Fulhelmknight and Emmersblade/Darksoul. Generally, you simply can’t shore up every weakness of a Yu-Gi-Oh! archetype without turning it into a Tele-DaD level of power.

Design wise, the card also contributes to the possible combinations that involve discarding an opponent’s entire hand on turn one before they get to play a turn. *Obviously* it’s never a wise decision to allow a player to win a game before the opposing player gets a turn (hence Konami banning every FTK under the sun).

ABPF and now TSHD have released four immensely powerful boosts to the X-Saber engine. A recruiter, an amazing Synchro monster (on par with Brionac and Goyo Guardian), an absolute floater, and a 1900 on-theme beatstick have entered the picture.

XX-Saber Boggart Knight:

Other than the name, this card is nice. Don't pass the uh, "dutchie" to this dude, or he will bogg... you know what, never mind. But seriously this is a very powerful addition to the X-Saber theme (although I'm not so sure they needed it). If X-Sabers weren't tier one yet, they will be for sure after the release of Shining Darkness. Boggart provides them with the now requisite 1900 atk beater, plus boosts there ability to swarm/synchro and use Faultroll. Emmersblade or Darksoul can add Boggart to your hand from the deck, making the Gottoms discard loop even easier for X-Saber users to pull off. At least they gave him an X-Saber only synchro restriction, which is something I would love to see more of...
