Eccentric Boy …

What a fun new card to play with …
800 ATK … meh … Wind … meh … Spellcaster? – Good! This helps. And the fact that he’s a Tuner is great. But what makes the boy so “special”? – Well, he’s part of the exclusive club of Tuners that once only held Vayu as a member … the Tuners that shortcut Synchro summoning (with their own restrictions) from outside the usual areas. Where Vayu could Synchro from the graveyard, EB needs to be on the field, but can Tune with a card u have in hand. Lovely. And at level 3, he can make almost anything. Tons of Level 7’s to choose from. He puts any non-summonable level 5’s in your hand to use, so he helps in that sense. Plus he’s a Spellcaster so he can be special summoned by the Spellcaster’s quickplay that I’m drawing a blank of the name of right now …

The drawback is that the monster loses its special ability (much like what Vayu creates) and when it is removed from the field, it is removed from play. That’s fine. U bring out your big heavies to swarm for a win, anyway. And if need be, a book of moon will flip the Synchro down, and once back up again – it should have its effect back.

Basically – people are going to be doing a lot with this guy … I predict big things.
He’s got potential written all over his smug little face.

It appears Yu-Gi-Oh! has gone DBZ again since Spirit Force was released. Difference is this cards really good. Wind attributed, level three, Spellcaster Tuner monster. It can tune itself with a monster in your hand, and the Synchro Monster you summon cannot activate its effect, its effects are negated and when its removed from the field it gets removed from play instead. Its pretty much no different than using Vayu the Emblem of Honor really. Considering you can synchro summon any level eight Synchro Monster by simply having The Tricky, Cyber Dragon or other various level 5 monsters you may use, I'd say Eccentric Boy is pretty darn good. More than likely I'd use Eccentric Boy to get out Red Dragon Archfiend since its a 3000 attack monster and I wont have to worry about losing monsters I didnt attack with at the end of the turn. Its safe to say this cards pretty good, and I expect to see interesting things with it in the future.

Eccentric Boy:

This card adds a new angle to synchro summoning... being able to use monsters from the hand. This is a unique feature, but I'm not sure how useful it will be yet. Yes, it can combo with cards like Thunder Dragon, Cyber Dragon, The Tricky (Simorgh deck), etc... but it still leans towards poor hand management. You're using 2 cards to get a vanilla beat stick on the field. I guess it could allow for quick access to Stardust Dragon's alter egos (Assault Mode or Magestic), but those decks are really for fun only. Plus, it rfgs the Stardust used to create one of his alters, so the effects that return him to the field become useless. I'm glad to see new methods of synchro added to the game, and hope to see more additions in the future.

Traditional: 1.5
Advanced: 2.0 (there has to be some combo I'm not seeing... right?)
