Swallow Flip, an excellent Counter Trap, and only a Super Rare, that negates the activation of an Effect Monster's effect that activates when said monster is Special Summoned, including itself, and destroy it.

Swallow Flip can be a beautiful tech card, but I just have that "brushed aside as crap" feeling about it. You guys need to open your minds up a little bit.

General Zorpa Swallow Flip

This card is the inferior version of Mirror of Oaths. it is a Counter Trap, which means that it is going to be hard to activate, and is generally not a good sign. The effects is similar to Mirror, but instead negates the effect of the summoned monster at Counter Trap speed.

As most of the cards Special Summoned from the deck do not have effects that activate (besides Gladiators) this card is far more less utilitarian than Mirror. Though it does have the advantage of not being able to be chained to (except by another Counter) it is not nearly powerful enough nor versatile enough to be played well. Plus, it doesn't draw you a card, something that you should always choose in deciding between similar cards.

Swallow Flip ...

Quick - name as many monsters as u can that activate their effect when special summoned ... (not normal, not tribute, not continuous)

ok ... uhm ... yeah .... go on, .... yeah .... i'm waiting ....

ok. Time's up. And now how many of those are people playing with? ...

Exactly. And that right there should tell u how good this card is ... or is NOT ...

Don't play it. Ever. Just set a bottomless trap hole instead.

Thursdays Card of the Day is Swallow Flip. Personally when I saw the spoiler and no effect, I thought this was going to be some Blackwing card. Anyways, Swallow Flip is a rather complicated counter trap. It negates the activation of an effect monster's effect that activates when a monster is Special Summoned, including itself and destroys the monster. Not many monsters really come to mind, Gorz, Dragon Ice, Cyber Dinosaur are the only ones that really come to mind since they activate. Cyber Dragon doesn't really activate it just can Special Summon itself. The others need something to happen. Another 2 that just came to mind is Phantom Dragon, which is almost as popular as Gorz and more popular than Dragon Ice and Cyber Dinosaur, then theres Van'dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord.

There are a few out there you can destroy with Swallow Flip that actually see play, but more times than not I believe you wont be able to activate this card. But that could just be me not liking the card since I believe there are better options like Royal Oppression out there.

Parallel Fates Swallow Flip…. Another one of those Gladiator Beast-hate cards found in RGBT. This card is basically the twin for Pulling the Rug. If it were not for the existence of Mirror of Oaths, you could definitely expect to see this card being played.

Its effect is not bad at all, it does its main job in shutting down the Gladiator Beast toolbox. Not only does it have an effect on Gladiator Beast, this card also stops Gale in Blackwings, however you are not likely to see the latter occur.

There is no reason why a player would use this over Mirror of Oaths. Not a bad card on its own right though, just that there are better options.
