Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Crusader of Endymion
#SOVR-EN030

This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it be treated as an Effect Monster with this effect: ● Once per turn, you can place 1 Spell Counter on a face-up card on the field that you can place a Spell Counter on. If you do, this card gains 600 ATK until the End Phase.

Dark Paladin

Friday

Crusader of Endymion, closes our week, and we have a Level 4, Spellcaster-type, GEmini monster, Light attributed, with 1900 attack and 1200 defense. Now, Gemini monsters need to have a Second Summon before they gain their effect.

So, in short, if you want a 1900 attack beatstick, who is Light, than use this guy anyway. If you Gemini Summon this card, you can add a Magic Counter (once per turn) to a card you can add said counter too (which you likely have).

This is good too, it can add speed to whatever it is you're doing with your Deck, and the counter gives Crusader of Endymion 600 extra attack until the End Phase, for a rousing total of 2500. Don't let the Gemini side make you toss him aside folks.

Crusader of Endymion

This is the BEST non-Secret rare card in the entire SOVR set. We start off with a level 4 LIGHT Spellcaster Gemini with 1900 ATK and 1200 DEF. These are pretty darn good stats already as 1900 takes down most things in one hit and being a Gemini give sit so much cool stuff to play around with. The effect is where he gets to be amazing.

If he was Normal Summoned again, you gain the ability to place a Spell Counter on a card you can place one on and he gains 600 ATK. If you combine this with cards like Dark Valkyria and Magical Exemplar you have some amazing synergy being created. By jove, it even works with Arcanite Magician! That means that you get 3 things to kill as well as a boost of 1000 ATK.

This is where the synergy comes in. Arcanite Magician is easy to bring out when there ar ea ton of Spellcasters in the deck, like Magical Exemplar, Tuned Magician and Crusader of Endymion. Then you can use Supervise to turn on Crusader's effect to place a Spell Counter on either Dark Valkyria or Arcanite and start destroying things. You can even use it with Magical Exemplar and Breaker the Magical Warrior to get more advantage.

Then you throw Apprentice Magician in the mix and you have a veritable cornucopia of things that you can do that will make your opponent very, very unhappy. Combining the Crusader with other Gemini monsters such as Evocator Chevalier that have high ATK, you get an anti-meta deck that simply beats face faster than your oppontne can kill things.

I can see a deck featuring this guy getting very far in a big tournament, and I will even be running it or my Forbidden City deck at Regionals this weekend. If you wish the decklist, I will be happy to send it, otehrwise, it will be available online in an article by next week.

In short, pick them up for the art, ATK or effect, just pick them up and as many as you can get.

Crusader of Endymion …

This is … eh … not bad. We talked a lot about Gemini’s this week, and this one lends to their cause. However, he is also an Endymion Spellcaster which grants him play time in their yard as well. Perhaps his existence is truly to bridge the gap between the two to make one awesome deck! Maybe? … No? …
As a Gemini – once 2nd summoned, he can create spell counters and place them where they can be placed. And once he does – he goes up by 600 ATK till the end phase. That’s nice, I guess. It would NICER if he got to KEEP his attack boost. It would certainly warrant his Ultra Rare status. But his basic stats are top of the line for a 4 star monster – 1900 ATK. Plus he’s light, so he gets lots of points for that.

Overall – he’s fine, and would probably do more the Endymions than the Geminis. Crusader is like the definition of an all around solid card with a fairly useful effect for very specific deck.

We end the week with another gemini and another spellcaster. Crusader of Endymion, 1900 attack makes it rather decent and adds bling to any gemini deck being an ultra/ultimate rare. When it is an effect monster once a turn you can put a spell counter on a face up card that can have counters on it. If you do its attack goes up by 600 until the end of the turn, making it a 2500 attacker! Its also a light monster so if you are going with some wacky light gemini deck or spellcaster deck, Honest is an option too. Aside from all that not much is left to be said about Crusader of Endymion. Its a rather solid card for a Gemini monster, something I'd recommend for any gemini or spell counter based deck.

Crusader Of Endymion:

At first glance this card seems better than he is I think.  1900 atk, level 4, light, spellcaster.  Good so far.  Gemini... doh!  As I mentioned before, I like geminis, but they are not incredibly splashable outside of the ones that special summon cards from the graveyard (Gigaplant/Ill Blud).  So this guy will need some sort of support or a way to be reliably special summoned.  Once his effect is activated, he is quite the powerhouse after you put a counter on something.  In a total spellcounter deck, he would make a nice addition, but that would be for fun only.  He is a good beatstick for spellcaster decks though, and adds a nice alternative for those oh-so important light-attribute cards.  Chaos Sorcerer needs food!
