Dark Paladin
Monday

Trap Reactor Y FI, which alone should give you a clue as to three other cards were reviewing this week...now, here we have a Level 4 Dark attribute Machine with 800 attack and 1800 defense...let's take a look at that.

800 attack on a Level 4 monster, especially here, is horrendous. 1800 defense is almost reasonable, Anyway, once per turn, when your opponent activates a Trap, you can destroy the card in question, and inflict 800 damage to your opponent.

800 damage is respectable, plus you destroy the Trap in question, both are good qualities. However, the attack is miserable, and you probably won't attack with this card...ever. Secondly, the 1800 defense won't last all that long, and finally, your opponent probably will have this destroyed before you can use the effect.

Ratings:

Traditional: 1/5

Advanced: 2/5 IF you play the Deck, and can pull off the big
monster.

General Zorpa Trap Reactor Y Fi

Welcome to DARK Machine Week! Here we are reviewing some of the new DARK Machine monsters that are new from CRMS.

First up is Trap Reactor, a DARK Machine with 800 ATK and 1800 DEF. The stats are alright. 1800 DEF is just enough to be a bit of a wall, but 800 ATK is too little to do much and cannot be used with Machine Duplication to boot.

It's effect is a little better, once per turn, when your opponent activates a trap card, you can destroy it and inflict 800 damage to your opponent. Basically, that would be great is it said "negate". As it does not, the effect of the trap card would still go through. However, it is very useful against Royal Decree and Royal Oppresion, but Trap Eater is better for that.

Bottom line is that all of the Reactor Monsters are only going to be used to Summon Sky Fire, so they don't belong anywhere else.

Todays Card of the Day is none other than Grieger's Trap Reactor • Y Fi. Once per turn you can destroy a trap card that your opponent activates and inflict 800 points of damage to your opponent. The problem is putting it face up without having to set it and wait for your opponent to attack it. 800 attack doesn't really mean it can hold its own against a lot of todays monsters. Its 1800 defense on the other hand can hold off cards like Gladiator Beast Laquari if it wasn't special summoned by another Gladiator Beast, or other cards like Elemental Hero Stratos. Its also a Crush Card Virus target which is always a good thing.

Now its obvious that this card is strictly a theme based card, which means the Reactor monsters can only fit within burn decks or within a Grieger(Reactor) deck. Which means they really cant be staples or splashed into random decks.

This card really isn't good in a machine deck let alone this format but maybe if your local plays a lot

of burn deck side but there are just better cards for it like Dust Tornado,Twister etc...

Trap Reactor Y FI ...

I'm not too sure about these cards ... i haven't seen the official rulings on them yet, so as of now, I can only comment on what I gather from the text ...

1st off - It's a Dark Machine ... that's nice on both counts. And ... that's about where the goodness stops. It's a level 4, but with only 800 ATK, its a PITIFUL level 4 ... but wait - does its effect make up for it?!? ... No, it does not. Had the text read - " ... NEGATE and destroy ..." u might have had something here. But since it only reads "destroy", at this point I can only assume that it is only useful against continuous trap cards ... which we discussed last week, so ...

Nope. Sorry, dog. It'll never work. The only thing u could POSSIBLY make use of is the 800 LP burn ... that's not ... "nothing" ... and if u are looking for monsters to use in some kind of lock down/burn deck, then MAYBE think about what u could do with this ... but even then - don't think too too long. U have much better options.
