Dark Paladin

Monday

Dark Resonator opens our week, with an effect that is exactly the same as another monster by the name of Gyroid.  Neither monster can be destroyed by Battle, at least, the first time they are attacked in a turn.

I find that when a monster is able to survive an attack (or more) in a turn, especially by its own effect, that is a relatively handy ability for a card to have.  It could be useful tribute bait or to sacrifice for something else in another turn.

You can also further protect said monster with Traps or whatever else your Deck may be running.  I find this card a bit more useful than Gyroid, as it's a bit more splashable being both a Fiend and a Tuner monster, but that's just me.

General Zorpa Dark Resonator

This guy is ok I guess. His stats are alright, but sub-par for a level 3 Tuner. You can negate his destruction by battle once per turn, like Gemini Summoner and Gyroid. This can be very useful, but I have to say that Krebons has taken the medal in attack negation. Even the Psychic Commander has better stats and is able to be Emergency Teleported.

He does have a plus over Krebons with ATK and a plus over Commander with the fact that he is DARK, so is much better in a DARK deck. However, a DARK Synchro deck is usually using level 1 and level 2 Tuners, level 3 is usually used for LIGHT decks due to Airknight Parshath and Cyber Dragon. You can use it in a Dark World Synchro deck though. It is crazy how often that deck can get a Synchro out, and it will use level 3 Tuners

Overall not a bad card, just outplayed by other Tuners.

Rare

Today’s card up for review is Dark Resonator, from Duelist Genesis! This card is actually sorta techish in my opinion. For those who do not know, he can be face down for his effect to go off. You can use this guy the turn after he gets hit to sack off for a tribute monster, or be cool and bring out Raviel lol. I personally think they should keep making cards with cool effects like this, keeps the innovation alive for local play
