Guardian of Order

Wow...pretty much a Shien for Lights, without the bonus effects.

Expect this to see a lot of play in the next months.  Usually the 2,500 ATK this monster provides can be just what you need to finish a game once you have a clear field.

Judgment Dragon + The Calculator + this = enough to win a Duel.

Cyber Dragon + The Calculator + this = the same, assuming you're attacking directly with all three.

Plain and simple, if you're running a pure Light deck, you're doing yourself a disservice if you're not running this.  Hope you picked up a few at the Sneak Preview!

Guardian of Order

Well, I 'm back this week with a review of one of my fave cards from the new LODT set. It is the Promo card so everyone should have gotten a copy, keyword SHOULD have. When I got there (20 minutes after the start) they were all sold out. I had to trade a CP Wave Motion and a SCR Dark Grepher to get my play set. Apparently UDE is trying to drive us players even more crazy by limiting severely the number of preview promos that they give out. God Bless America.

Anywho, the card is rather amazing for a number of reasons. 2500 ATK is decent, but generally not enough to get excited about, especially on a two tribute body. LIGHT is also ok, but nothing to get excited about, DARK is what it's all about nowadays. However, if you control two or more LIGHT monsters, you can Special Summon him from your hand. WOW. Lightsworn and Batteries all got a huge boost from this guy, as both decks can easily get 2-3 monsters on the field in one turn.

Basically the Guardian serves as the finishing blow to an already weakened opponent. IMO Great Shogun Shien is better, but at least Guardian works with ALL LIGHT monsters.

Pwii

After fighting an epic war of silly string and monopoly, I've finally imprisoned Yami pwii in a toothpick. But enough of that. Today I'm going to be reviewing guardian of order.

Now, I'd have to see a spoiler or something like that, but from what I'm seeing, light decks could really get big. Kind of a Light-Dark battle for control of the metagame. This pretty much cinches it. With cyber dragon, it just got a whole lot better. Even better, it's a level 8, so you can use trade-in also!

Monday

All right, we're continuing to review new Light of Destruction cards this week, but before I do, I need to say a few things.  First, I promised an article comparing this set to the previous set LAST week...I lied.  My plan was to do one around Friday on my day off, but I ended up, by the grace of God, having a pair of Detroit Red Wing playoff tickets for Saturday (two days ago) drop into my lap.  Anyway, said article WILL come this week, or I will be struck by lightning and scoured by swords...repeatedly.

Anyway...now that I got that off, today's card is Guardian of Order, a Level 8 monster of the Light attribute with 2500 atk and 1200 def.

First, I'll begin by saying, that if your Deck has gone the way of the Light, then this is a card you should be using.

If you control two or more Light-Attribute monsters, you can Special Summon this 2500 attacker directly from your Hand.  For a bit of a downside, you can only control one Guardian of Order at a time, but that adds a little balance to this card.

Obviously, this card isn't going to be good in the early game...not even mid-game.  This is a great lockdown and finish card.  How fun is it to summon this and have it get smashed on the next turn by Dark Armed Dragon?
