Dark Paladin
Friday

Fires of Doomsday...what is this...cool card name week or something?
Anyway, here is a card that allows you to summon 2 Tokens in defense position (which have 0 attack and 0 defense) and prevents you from summoning any other Monsters in the turn. Furthermore, you can NOT tribute the tokens for a tribute summon.

Can not tribute the tokens for a tribute summon UNLESS it's for a DARK monster. What Dark monsters do we know that require a couple of tributes? Dark Magician, or even, Dark Magician of Chaos? Granted, Dark Magician Decks could use this, and for all of us using DMoC now, we have easier ways of reviving and abusing him than tributing him, but still a decent enough Magic card.

Ratings:

Traditional: 1.5/5 No real need.
Advanced: 3/5 For reasons stated above.

Friday:
Fires of Doomsday

This card's actually pretty good.

It may only generate 2 tokens, but in pretty much all Dark decks, these tokens can actually be tributed for Tribute Summons, unlike Scapegoat tokens!  You have an easier way to make D-Hero Plasma or Dogma hit the field to claim their incredible effects...you have easier fodder for more mainstay choices like Jinzo, or more unusual Dark monsters like Dark Ruler Ha Des.

If you look at almost every big Dark monster that sees play other than Dark Armed Dragon, they'll all benefit from this if you're not dumping/reviving them.  This is a good tech choice for some Dark decks and one you'd play 2 or 3 in others.

Ed Friday - Fires of Doomsday

So this time we're reviewing a Quick-Play spell card that has an interesting effect. It allows the player to special summon two tokens during whichever phase they want of whoevers turn it is, but they can't be used for a tribute summon unless the monster is DARK. Let's take a look first at which monsters we would want to tribute summon in the current format. Uh..none, really, since Special Summoning is the key in this format, but DMoC can certainly be tribute summoned by tributing the two tokens. This card can also be used for Caius when he's released, but I doubt anybody would run a card that only allows for three key cards in their deck to be special summoned. However, this card can be considered the little brother of Scapegoat, since it special summons tokens onto the field that are useless whatsoever and can't be tributed for a tribute summon. This card is a little better, though, since DARK monsters can be Tribute Summoned. I don't really think this card will make too much of a difference in the Meta or the decklists of top players, and it definitely hasn't yet.

Ex` Friday March 14th: Fires of Doomsday

Today we're talking about Fires of Doomsday and I'm sure most players have a copy of this card. I literally begged for copies of this card during the sneek. We're looking at a card that Fuses Scapegoat's Chainability with Stray Lambs live tributes. This card is sheer amazing, despite the fact you can only tribute those for a "tribute summon" for Dark monsters. Otherwise, it would be sheer broken

To get some clarification on the way, The Doomsday Tokens can be tributed for costs of effects (Cannon Soldier, Monster Gate, Crush Card Virus) as well as Tribute summoning for Dark Monsters (Jinzo, Blowback Dragon, Dark Magician of Chaos) so these tokens are versatile for almost anything

When Crush Card Virus is mass released in the Gold Series and The Dark Monarch makes an apparence in the TCG, expect this card to be run in triplets

Rating:

Trad: 4/5 (Makes up for Scapegoat's restriction)
Advanced: 4/5 (Still ridiculous)

Until Next Time
