Dark Paladin
Tuesday

Well, we took yesterday off for President's Day, but we're back for the rest of the week, continuing to look at Phantom's Darkness cards.

Anyway, we start off with a Super Rare, Armageddon Knight, a Dark Level
4 monster with rather unremarkable stats of 1400 attack and 1200 defense, who is also a Warrior. However, you probably don't need to attack with this guy anyway.

This effect boils down to a much more specific version of Foolish Burial. Here, when this card is Summoned (whether Normal, Flip, or Special), you can send one Dark mosnter from your Deck to your Graveyard.

Armageddon Knight is a decent card, for either format. He works well with Dark Armed Dragon, before or after summoning, definately Strike Ninja (props to Spaceman for pointing out how many cards worked with him last week), and even Chaos a bit.

There are plenty of Dark monsters you can send, whether it be something to feed Dark Armed Dragon, or something to remove later, or something big like Dark Magician of Chaos for revival later.

Ratings:

Traditional: 2.5/5 Dark, Warrior, Level 4, and dumps a Dark monster?
Certainly helps Chaos.

Advanced: 3.5/5 For reasons stated above.

General Zorpa Armageddon Knight

About 80% of the really cool plays from the PTDN set involve using this DD Survivor look alike. He has 1400 ATK, which is probably the worst to have,as recruiters smash into him with almost no consequence. Like most cards in the set, he is DARK and is a level 4 Warrior. I find myself doing crazy plays like summon Armageddon Knight, dump off DMoC MST the facedown and Premature the DMoC for massive damage. He is also great for use with Dark Armed Dragon, as he can regulate the amount of DARK monsters in the graveyard, by putting cards like Necro Gardna that can remove themselves from play.

He also thins the deck as well as setting up great D-Hero plays without using D-Draw. Malicious, Dasher and Disc Commander are all great in the graveyard, and Armageddon Knight puts them there. He also can work well in that deck, as he is searchable by Reinforcements of the Army. Evem midgame this guy is pretty good, setting up The Dark Creator and Dark Nepthys for glorious plays involving swarming the field with an army of Darknight Parshath and Jinzo.

There is a Normal Spell named foolish Burial that received a lot of hype a while ago, allowing you to send ANY monster to the graveyard instead of just a DARK one. However, everything is better "with legs" meaning that the free effect of Knight is far better than the -1 in card advantage that Foolish gives you as well as being able to be reused outside of Magical Stone Excavation and Magician of Faith. I am certainly having trouble finding the requisite copies for my deck as people are clinging to these tighter than their Dark Creators.

Armageddon Knight

DARK/Level 4

Warrior/Effect

1400 ATK / 1200 DEF

When this card is Summoned, you can send 1 DARK monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.

Free Foolish Burial for DARK monsters.

This card cannot be compared to Dark Grepher because each Warrior has its own advantages and disadvantages.  I personally think this card builds up for the DARK monsters, whereas Dark Grepher strikes with them.

If you look at this card from one way, it gives you +1; we willingly give up a card to dump Disk Commander and Malicious, right?  However, this card cannot dig out Treeborn Frog, so that is definitely a limitation.  Although Armageddon Knight can be destroyed by Pulling the Rug if he is Normal Summoned, you probably want to Special Summon him or Normal Summon him anyway.

This card helps out Strike Ninja a LOT.  Dumping a D.D. Scout Plane AND providing field presence, something Ninja depletes quite often, are valuable.  Unfortunately, this card has that dreaded 1400 ATK – Attribute searchers can immediately nullify the field presence and strike through, though Ninja will hopefully block them.

This card can also work with Macro.  Heck, use 3 Survivor, 3 Scout Planes, and maybe 2 Armageddon Knight to make the Macro “turbo.”  Hey, Reinforcement of the Army just became a +1!

Traditional:  3/5   Not bad at all.

Advanced:  4/5    For the new DARK monsters…awesome.

Ed Tuesday - Armageddon Knight

Well for Tuesday, we yet again review a DARK monster that includes some DARK support. Armageddon Knight's effect can only be used once, and that is when it's summoned. Then you can send one DARK monster from your deck to the Graveyard. Armageddon Knight can not only be used in a DARK deck with all the Phantom of Darkness cards, but in some other competitive decks like Light and Darkness or D-Heroes (Malicious). Also, this card's attack is barely below the 1500ATK mark, allowing it to be special summoned by Mystic Tomato. I'm personally not sure what this card can do to the currently playable decks, because i most likely am missing numerous other combos that this card is capable of pulling off. Overall, though, I don't think this card's all that horrible.

Traditional: 4/5 - GREAT Chaos help. Now we just need a LIGHT version of this card.
Advanced: 2/5 - Stays like this until I think of some other awesome combo.

Spaceman Tuesday:

Hey again and welcome to the new week of CotD… which all of them are actually really good this week. So, congrats to you the reader, and boo to the fools who don’t read this garbageJ.

Anyways today’s card is Armageddon Knight, which like last week’s cards came out of the new set. When the card is summoned you CAN send a dark monster from your deck to your graveyard. So really pulling the rug, can work against it, and can’t. Overall this is one of the better cards that came out of the pack (and this back was fabulous so that is saying something), because it will help you fuel your decks for Dark Armed Mother F&$&@ing Dragon! Can be searched out by tomato and R.O.T.A, so really there is no reason you wouldn’t have this out on the field by turn 2 if you wanted. It’s honestly a better version than Dark Grepher, but both serve different purposes.

You would be smart to use this in a Strike ninja deck also, because it has all the attributes where it could shine best. And if the OCG banlist is the TCG banlist, than this card can help you get out DMOC even quicker and Special Summon thanks to the near broken Monster Reborn. Thanks UDE/Konami for really making a broken deck, more broken (really just talking about any deck that runs DMOC).

Traditional: 2/5… Plausible but better options
Advance: 3.75/5 Really good in the right deck
