Dark Paladin
Wednesday

Well, we looked at his brother last week, so today we look at the superior version, Sky Scourge Norleras.

Now, let's take a moment to discuss something. Norleras vs. Demise.
Demise allows you to destroy all cards on the field, minus himself for 2000 Lifepoints. He doesn't hit either players hand, which could be a bad thing, especially if your opponent has something to counter with next turn, assuming you hadn't won.

Norleras nukes both sides of the Field and bother players' Hands for half the points...being only a 1000 Lifepoint cost. Norleras also allows you to draw one card after all this happens, so you at least end up with something.

Like his brother, Norleras has 2400 attack and 1500 defense points. He also requires four removals, except here, three are Light-Fairy monsters and one is Dark-Fiend type. Quite superior to his brother I must say.

Honestly, I still say Demise is a better more playable card, at least for the time being. Demise is a Ritual, usually meaning it requires four cards to summon him, since he is Level 8. However, it takes five cards to summon Norleras...the four removals plus the card itself.

I think those of you who are playing Demise should just stick with him, but I know someone will go out and try to built a Deck involving both, go for it. Don't get me wrong though...Norleras is strong, it is a good card, and could be deadly in the proper deck.

Ratings:

Traditional: No need still, just like his brother.

Advanced: Still, it's own deck, or even paired with his brother, but a solid 3.65/5 for being better than Enrise.

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Sky  Scourge Norleras

I hate the scourge monsters because they are slow.  I do plan on posting an article on these guys shortly to fully explain my position.  But the fact they require 4 remove monster fodder to be summoned means for some un-fun times when your top decking.

Not worth building a deck around
Turkeyspit Sky Scourge Norleras

Aside from the Crystal Beasts, Norleras has been hyped as the card from FOTB that will have the biggest impact on the Metagame.

Being compared to his older cousin, Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End, in many ways, Norleras can be much much worse.

It is true that Norleras is harder to summon than CED-EoTE, but his effect also has more potential. If you've frequented any Yu-Gi-Oh! forums, you have undoubtably seen decks built to abuse the fact that Norleras gets to draw 1 card after resolving his effect.

The combo works as follows:

- Activate "Feather of the Phoenix" to get Dimension Fusion to the top of your deck.
- Summon Norleras, pay 2000 LPs and nuke the field and both player's hands.
- Draw your card with Norleras' effect (ZOMG..you topdecked Dimension Fusion!)
- Pay 2000 more LPs to activate Dimension Fusion, and swarm the field for (what should be) Game.

Now, I don't know how many times the above combo will work, and I don't rightly care. The fact is this card is overpowered simply because it allows a player who is behind in advantage, to remove 4 monsters from his Graveyard to not only cancel out any advantage his opponent had, but to give themself a +1 to boot!

To sum it up: Norleras will allow bad players to turn the tables on good players, and don't we already have too many cards around that do that?

-----------------------------

Traditional:
4/5 - The possibility of 2 "Chaos Emperor Dragons" with yet another method of adding Yata to your hand is too good to pass up. I think this card will see play in Traditional, especially considering that they still have Painful Choice and Mirage of Nightmare.

Advanced:
4/5 - Wut? The same score as Traditional? What have you been smoking Turkey? Well, it's unproven so far, but Sky Scourge Norleras has the potential of creating a new decktype, that will allow both good and bad players to pull out cheap wins.

Card Art:
4/5 - "I play Polymerization to fuse my Summoned Skull with my Archfiend of Gilfer, and summon the...". Pretty hot stuff!

Off we go with another new card.....

Sky Scourge Norleras

Dark-Fiend

Level 8

2400 attack 1500 defense

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by removing one Light-Fairy type monster and three Dark-Fiend type monsters in your Graveyard. You can pay 1000 Lifepoints to send all cards on the Field and in both players hand's to the Graveyard. Then, draw one card.

Another new "chaos" monster.  The summon requirement is hefty, but if you can get him out the whole field and hand is going to go for a ride straight to the graveyard. I don't think I need to say the card this reminds me of......

It's smaller than it's former counterpart, though the stats don't really matter in this case.  It also doesn't do damage to the opponent, instead you get to draw a card. Giving you a start on the topdecking, and if you draw a solid monster or a good piece of defense, you could be in good shape.

Unlike it's counterpart, this can't be thrown into a deck just because you just so happen to run the requirements for its summon.   You have to make a specialized deck to get it to work out properly.

Traditional: 2/5 (We got the original chaos here)

Advanced: 4/5 (In a dedicated deck)

Bob Doily Wednesday

Back again, this semester is starting to get busy. But at least I’m back in time to lash out at the watered down CED. There is no other way to put it, this is a version of CED that is so watered down that it isn’t even funny. Well actually it is. I personally dislike when they do this to cards, because it always results in one of two situations.

Either
a) the card is too watered down and is useless
b) the card isn’t watered down enough and can still be abused.

This one could really go either way. The stats are a joke, the summoning requirements are more specific that CED, but maybe not enough. Even though the effect doesn’t deal any game finishing damage it is still brutal. Paying 1000 lp to nuke everything gives you +X. Previously we all hated the CED to yata drop. Well even though you can setup searches ahead of time, this also lets you draw a card. The potential to have 2 to none is quite devastating.

I personally see that as being the main use of this card: an easy and effective way to gain a significant card advantage. It may not become an otk, but it has the potential. Any card that can shift the balance of the game in a single drop is dangerous, no matter how watered down.

Traditional: it’s not CED, why bother
Advanced: 3.5/5
