Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Crystal Beast-Amber Mammoth

When a face-up "Crystal Beast" Monster you control is targeted as an attack target, you can change the target to this card. If this card is destroyed while in the Monster Card Zone, you can place it face-up in your Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card, instead of sending it to the graveyard.

Card Number - FOTB-N005

Dark Paladin
Monday Part II

Also, today, we are looking at Crystal beast--Amber Mammoth. Our Mammoth friend is one of the stronger Crystal Beasts. It boasts 1700 attack and 1600 defense, both are fairly solid for a Level 4 monster.
It is also and Earth monster of the Beast type.

However, our Mammoth doesn't do a whole lot. It allows you to change the attack target from one Crystal Beast you control to itself. Not necessarily a bad thing, considering most of the Crystal Beasts aren't very strong, but 1700 attack won't survive forever.

Again, when destroyed, you can move this card to an open Magic or Trap slot, if you want. Usually, you do, as that is one of the main functions of this Deck.

Ratings:

Traditional: 1/5 Still don't think it would work in Traditional.

Advanced: 3/5

Art: 3.5/5

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Crystal Beast-Amber Mammoth

5/5 in the Crystal beast deck. This is one of their heavy hitters. Outside of such a deck this is a useless monster with 1700 attack. But this guy in said deck gives a little extra muscle to push stuff around with.

Crystal Beast – Amber Mammoth

I did a lot of testing with the Crystal Beasts at the FOTB pre-release in Orlando last month.

Amber Mammoth has a great effect that prevents the opponent from hitting the creatures you don’t want him/her to hit.

Last Word: good, undervalued, and bound to hit the metagame soon.

1700/1600

Well this is one of the beefier Crystal Beasts. Amber Mammoth has the effect of making itself the target of attacks, it's just like with Six Samurai decks when a really important Samurai is going to be destroyed you can destroy another. So the attack being redirected to Amber Mammoth can help a lot during games. Especially if you don't win after Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle's effect goes off or Crystal Abundance, you can save a lot of lifepoints with Amber Mammoth.

Though 1700 attack and 1600 defense usually wont get the job done with Legendary Jujistu Master and Gravekeeper's Spy out there, but it can hit hard against others like Dekoichi the Battlechanged Locomotive and the really popular cards like Card Trooper and Destiny Hero - Malicious. With Destiny Hero Beatdown out there, this can hold off one big attack onto a smaller Crystal Beast, but this card is rendered useless to many swarm decks and also to Demise OTK.

This card can be good, when on the field at the right time and using the effect wisely.

Traditional: 2/5 This card isn't always going to be the best bet, but with Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning attacking twice, it can really save some lifepoints and some more important monsters.
Advanced: 2.5/5 When this is on the field and depending on life and other Crystal Beasts on the field will tell if this card will really be the game breaking card it wants to be.

Crystal beast - Amber Mamoth

There isnt alot to say about this card other than its needed for the gem beast theme just because its a 1700 beatstick and can protect your other monsters. I cant Think of to much to say on this card other than you can create a lock with it(YAY), so i will just move on to ratings.

Traditional: 1/5
Advanced: 5/5 in gem beasts

Art: 2/5 just an elephant.

ENJOY!
Alex Davis Crystal Beast Weeeeeeek! Hahaha, I’m glad I started working at this time, just in time to review my favorite new monsters! There’s 7 Crystal Beast monsters in total, and we’ll get to all of them this week, but today we’ll look at two of them.

Lets start off with Mammoth. It’s got 1700 ATK and 1600 DEF, so it’s stats are decent enough, unfortunately, E-Hero Stratos is very popular right now, so it’s going to run over Mammoth a lot in competitive play. But other than that it’s got enough ATK strength to run over most anything else that’s not a Tribute. It’s also the 2nd strongest Crystal Beast monster, which makes it very needed. Having access to only 7 different monsters is very restrictive for a theme, especially one that relies ENTIRELY on having so many of them for the deck to function well. That means that every monster you use has to serve a very useful purpose if you want the deck to run as fast or as stable as possible. The effect of Mammoth is really not good at all, and will only be useful in very few situations. Still, with so few options to run, you’ll want to run 3 of these in any crystal Beast deck you play. When almost half of your monster choices for a deck have poor effects, you have to rely on stats to do the job for you. That basically means that the only reason you’re running this guy is for his ATK power. His DEF is nice too, so setting him isn’t a terrible thing if you have to. It can black off snipe hunter attacks, wildhearts, oceans, hydrogeddons, and things of that nature that you’ll likely see in competitive play.

RATING: 5/5 for Crystal Beast Decks obviously
