Hidden Soldiers

Meh.

Let me clarify that. Meh, this card blows.

Okay...so you have to wait until your opponent Normal/Flip summons a monster, use up a Trap card, and get to...throw down a Dark monster from your hand. So you have a card that gives you a -1 and requires your opponent to do a non-Special Summon in order to maybe put a Spirit Reaper in DEF or something? If there's some huge combo here, I'm just not seeing it. 90% of your opponent's important summons are going to be Special Summons, which will leave this a dead card. You can do much better.

1/5 all

Dark Paladin
All right, excluding today, I decided to fill in this week and squeeze in some Power of the Duelist cards for the rest of the week. Just some nifty cards, and better things for me to look at after last week, so this IS indeed my final week until I return in December.

Today we look at Hidden Soldiers, the Sneak Preview card for Power of the Duelist. For those of you who may remember, this was used by Marik in the Battle City Finals arc vs. Joey on the anime.

This is a fairly decent Trap card, the only down side is the fact that you can only summon a Dark monster and that it has to be in your hand.
If this were from your deck, a Sangan or a Spirit Reaper would be the ideal choice.

Although what you can summon and from where is Restricted, when is not.
It's whenever your opponent Normal or Flip summons a monster, yet not a Special Summon. I suppose this could be useful...but probably won't.

Ratings:

2.5/5 all around, maybe up or down with time...

Art: 4/5 Nice picture

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Hidden Soldiers

Basic Summary: Starting off our POTD week we get to review POTD Sneak Preview card. I seen lots of whining that this promo isn't very good I for one don't share that opinion this card is pretty good in certain style decks obvious them being Dark. Now for the record this is one of Marik cards used in the anime series which allows you to summon any level 4 or lower Dark type monster when your opponent summons a monster of there own. Now a few good Dark types come to mind right away like Mystic Tomato, Apprentice Magician, Spirit Reaper, Strike Ninja, and Sangan in DEF or ATK which is nice for Spirit Reaper or Apprentice Magician. Now mainly this card could be a teched in a Strike Ninja deck but other then it will remain a tech unless you run a Marik deck ~.^

Conclusion: It has its uses buts its not as terrible as many think just try it out if you run a Strike Ninja deck could work but A Rival Appears is much better.

Traditional Format > 1/5: Would be better if was also when you summoned, Summon the Dragon special summon Sangan or Witch from your hand :D

Advance Format > 2/5: Strike Ninga tech maybe ?

Artwork > 3/5: It really is soldier which are hidden from something who would have figured :P

Hidden Soldier.

Today we start off with the new Sneak Preview card, Hidden Soldier. Unless you wanna count the 1 lucky kid that got the Crush Card as a another Preview card, but alas its a SJC card. I only wish I would have went and pulled it, but I didnt go.

For the people that pulled this, they werent the lucky one that got the Crush Card, but they still pulled something for their 20-25$ anyways. The text on this card reads as follows:

HIDDEN SOLDIER
Normal Trap
Effect:
When your opponent summons a monster, you may special summon a 4 star(or less) Dark monster from your hand.

Easy effect to read, and understandable, but not really that great. Its a -1 from the start, upon activation and also wastes a Dark monster from your hand, which you could save for a much better time to use. Sure it can bring out Sangan, Tomato's, Dekoichi's, but its while your opponent summons a monster(which will be most likely on their turn). So they may have something to stop it, like Smash, Snatch, Sorcerer, etc.

It could also be a dead draw, it could waste your s/t zone if you dont have a 4 star or less dark monster in hand, and alot more. You can use better traps such as Decree, Sakuretsu and much more which will be much more effective. We have to get better promo's soon or Im gonna be a sad panda.

My conclusion is if you have 1, try to trade it off quickly for alot, as its not worth it. I probably would have ripped mine in half, but I unno.

Ratings:
Traditional: 1/5 ( No, just no.)
Advanced: 1.5/5 ( If you play alot of 4 star or less Dark monsters, maybe it could help, just dont randomly throw into deck).
