YuGiOh Episode Guide

Shining Friendship

This is a synopsis of Yu-Gi-Oh! Episode 23: Shining Friendship.
LAST TIME.....
Yugi lost the battle between Kaiba and his Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Yugi’s other half, the spirit of the Millenium Puzzle, ordered an attack that might have caused Kaiba’s death. It took al Yugi’s strength to assume full control. Yugi is now so afraid of what this spirit might do to the others, he vows to never duel again!
The other try to cheer Yugi up, and Joey even offers Yugi his own star chips so that Yugi might enter the castle to save his grandpa. Yugi does not say anything. Mai then shows up, offering to repay the debt she owes Yugi (see episode #13, Panik Attack) by giving him new star chips. Yugi still does not speak, afraid to duel. Mai becomes angry and challenges Yugi to duel her for the star chips. Suddenly, Tea steps in. She agrees to duel Mai, for Yugi’s sake. The two girls enter an arena. Yugi stands on the sidelines, looking miserable. Tea plays Petit Angel, in Attack Mode. Mai plays Harpie Lady (no surprise there) and destroys the Angel. Tea then summons Fairy’s Gift, since it’s attack power is stronger than the Harpie. But Mai merely activates
the Rose Whip magic card, destroying the Fairy’s Gift. Tea then draws the monster Shining Friendship, which she hopes can be as strong as their real friendship. Mai laughs at the card and attacks. But Tea uses the trap card Waboku, reducing the Harpies attack to 0 for one turn. Tea then draws her favorite monster-Magician of Faith, and place it in defense mode, face-down. She also equips Shining Friendship with the Silver Bow and Arrow, raising it’s power by 300 points. Mai equips her Harpie with Cyber Shield, and then activates her De-Spell magic card, removing the Bow and Arrow. Harpie Lady then destroys the defending Magician of Faith. Since the Magician was destroyed, Tea can recover the Silver Bow and Arrow from the Graveyard. Tea then works out a combo: She equips the Silver Bow and Arrow once again, and then plays the Elf’s Light magic card. Shining Friendship’s Attack is now at 2000. Lastly, Tea uses her own De-Spell card to remove the Harpie’s Cyber Shield. Harpie Lady is destroyed! Mai consideres using the facedown card she has on the field, but surrenders, saying there is no point in continuing now that her Harpie Lady is gone. Yugi runs over to Mai, and asks her about that facedown card. Mai simply remarks that some cards are not worth playing. Tea holds out the star chips she won, and Yugi happily accepts them, thanking Tea for giving him the courage to deal with his fears. Yugi states that he WILL duel again! The reunited group then rushes up the castle stairs, eager to finally face Pegasus. - Pete Watson
