Strike of Neos Sneak Preview Constructed deck tournament - Brad Matthews

TomatoBox
Yu-Gi-Oh Strike of Neos Sneak Peak
Holiday Inn, Boise Idaho
Advanced Constructed deck
17 entrants

Each duelist got the new promo card, Grandmaster of the Six Samurai, which has a great effect, BTW. I gotta get a couple more of these guys.

Round 1: TomatoBox vs Bob. He couldn't believe he had to face me. He runs a gadget machine deck.
Game 1: One or two gadgets hit the field, but it wasn't too much for me to handle. I wasted no time blasting him with my advantage hungry deck. He didn't even see Cyber Dragons or Hydrogedons, though Don got him once 1-0
Game 2: Cyber Dragons and Hydrogeddons joined in the fun, this time. It was over even faster than the first game. There were still over 30 minutes left in round one when I reported my win. 2-0 (1-0)

Round 2: TomatoBox vs (can't remember names very well) Gadgets. Another gadget deck. This one was much better than Bob's.
Game 1: He couldn't get through my big attackers, which proved a big advantage for me. Hydrogeddons rushed him into a couple of poor decisions. He tried to Bottomless one of the ones summoned during the damage step, and the head judge actually agreed with him. Grrr. Oh well. I was getting low on lp, but I saw a hole open on his field before me. I exploted and won 3-0
Game 2: He didn't side deck, which is why I didn't side. If it was a gadet deck, and I had as little trouble with it as i did in game one, and he still doesn't side deck, then I don't need to side. Simple. He couldn't stop the big attackers. He got a couple of hits in, but i got through all of his defenses before he could ever find a seam. 4-0 (2-0)

Round 3: TomatoBox vs (some guy with a large cowboy hat) Insects.
Game 1: How exactly did this guy make it to 2-0? By taking advantage of weaker duelists, obviously. He knew he was going to lose. Cyber Dragon, Exiled Force. Exiled Force again with last will. Don. His Doom Dozer didn't stand a chance. 5-0
Game 2: Very quick, once again. Again, he left a wide open backfield, which against me is a recipe for disaster. I blasted through a Chainsaw Insect and a Doom Dozer and still had plenty of resources to spare. 6-0 (3-0)

Between rounds: TomatoBox vs Jose (Warrior Toolbox) this is one of the three best players I went against all day.
Game 1: A couple of big attackers found the field, but they couldn't do much to me. I found the upper hand and went for the win. 7-0
Game 2: He got quite a few hits in, but I was able to come back and get a good advantage engine rolling. He didn't have any respose to most of my moves, and when Don Zaloog hit the field, it assured his demise. 8-0 (4-0) but it doesn't count.the round 3 in progress wasn't even over yet.

Round 4: TomatoBox vs (a kid with a yugioh strike of neos tee shirt) Monarch toolbox. It turns out this is the best player I faced all day.
Game 1: He gets a bunch of hits in before I can do much to him. His deck is solid and his skills are solid. He made one mistake during the duel, which was comitting too much to the field. Not a good idea against me. It was 2400-7700 in favor of him...Until I gained the upper hand and exploited the overextension. My board presence got to be too much and he couldn't save the game. 9-0. the first game he lost all day. Would there be a second?
Game 2: He goes first and sets a face down mosnter with no backfield. Not a good idea. I Nobleman the monster, summon a Spirit Reaper and peck at him and he loses a card. Second turn, I sack the Reaper for a Zaborg, making another +1 advantage. His hand is in dire shape. He manages to summon a Mobius against two face downs, one of which was Bottomless Trap Hole. I bottomless and go for the win with my two monsters. 10-0 (5-0)

Round 5: TomatoBox vs (a kid with a red Mario Brothers tee shirt that said, "A mushroom a day") Bounce/Stall

Game 1: Wow, he did lots of burn damage to me before I could hit his lp. It was 10400-2600 in favor of him until I turned things around. A Ring and a Magic Cylinder hurt me, but he didn't have much else after that. I was up on card advantage by 4 before too long, and he couldn't stop any of my monsters. He made it interesting by using Lightnig Vortex on one monster, flipping a Magician and using the Vortex again on Cyber Dragon and two Hydrogeddons, but he was still in bad shape. All I need to do at this point is summon and attack for game. I get DD Warrior Lady and do just that. 11-0

Game 2. I didn't side deck because I didn't need to. A Magic Cylinder and a Ring back to back? Chances of that happening again are slim to none, so I opted to take my chances. My opening hand is far stronger this game. He couldn't keep a back row, and his monsters repeatedly fell to Exiled Force. I pulled the Last Will combo on him and got Don Zaloog. Against an all monster hand. There was little he could do to make the advantage swing in his favor. He had 1100 left and I had two 1400 attackers. I set Ring and ended. He summoned a Beatstick and I activated Ring in repsponse for game/ 12-0 (6-0)

This is the first sanctioned event I've been to since Regionals in October, and I was in it to win it.. I did just that, and everyone was shocked, even Bob. Prize time...I win first prize and get 12 packs of Stike of Neos. 1/2 a box. Not bad at all for a sneak peak with a $7.00 entry fee, As a matter of fact, that's about $48.00 worth of prizes. Everyone watched me open my packs.

Pack 1: nothing
Pack 2: nothing
Pack 3: nothing
Pack 4: nothing
Pack 5: Ultra Rare E-hero Air Neos fusion
Pack 6: nothing
Pack 7: nothing
Pack 8: nothing (this isn't going well)
Pack 9: nothing
Pack 10: nothing
Pack 11: nothing
Pack 12: nothing (this didn't go well at all)

I traded the Ehero Air neos to Bob with a regular rare card for two Super Rares, and Ultra Rare, and a regular rare. Good trade.
That's 4 consecutive tournament wins for me.

Props: 1st Place...12 packs...0 losses (games)...Grandmaster of the Six Samurai
Slops: Terrible packs. The bug guy getting mad. The Mushroom kid telling one of his freinds that Last Will + Exiled force has never gone off for him once. Jose and Juan not entering. They would have done quite well.
