Greetings to all! Hope you enjoyed my last submission. I had some issues with the car, so I stopped off to my dealership and resolved all issues. Once that was done, I got to the Gathering and noticed a rather large increase of participants in the tournament today. Very exciting. I even dueled a bit with my Dark World deck, and introduced a few people to the Dark World / Forced Requisition combo.

I need to apologize up front for the brevity of the matches. I didn’t get a chance to record a lot of my duels, but I will describe particular events that I feet pertinent to the match. Now that all that is taken care of, on to the deck!

Round 1: Me vs. Bazoo/Strike Ninja w/ Return

Not much to say about this match, it went to a third game, but I felt very confident. I never hit a Sakuretsu or a Bottomless with my NoE, but once Royal Decree was activated I wasn’t worried. Horus Lock wins 2 out of 3.

Record: 1-0

Round 2: Me vs Warrior Toolbox with Chiron

I lost the first, sidedecked in the Blast with Chains, which owned Mobius. I remember he makes a mention about me copying someone, but apparently he was talking about another website which discussed Blast with Chain in the maindeck of some championship in Europe. I explain to him that I have been playtesting with Blast with Chain for a few weeks now, to combat all the Mobius abuse. Anyway, in the third duel we got called on time, and I was able to summon a DD Survivor and a DD Assailant which beat his face in for 3500 in one turn, which was the lifepoint swing I needed, and then I was declared the winner. Best of 3 again to Horus on time.

Record: 2-0

Round 3: Me Vs Chaos Control

I thought I recognized my opponent, as he is a VERY experienced duelist and one of the top competitors in Florida. It goes to the third match, but I lose because I forgot he had Exiled Force in his hand from three turns ago (Reinforcement of the Army). We talk a bit after the match, discussing strategy and tactics. Great duel, I just come out on the losing end.

Record: 2-1

Round 4: Me Vs Beatdown

Now I need to focus on winning, however a headache attempts to keep me from concentrating. In the end I lose because I failed to recognize the decktype as a straight beatdown. I needed to play conservatively and I don’t, and I overextend too early. Now I was mad because my opponent used cards that really weren’t to his advantage, and had I sidedecked properly, I would not have had an issue with his deck. Oh well, sometimes you learn a lot more from losses and mistakes than you do from wins.

AMAZINGLY enough, I make top 8 (Had the best tiebreakers as both of my losses also make top 8, which pulled me up.

Record: 2-2

Finals Round 1 Top 8: Me vs. Last Turn

I have played Last Turn before, but this time it is against the guy who runs it the best at the store. Probably the best Last Turn deck I have ever seen. The first duel, he Self Destructs. Second duel, he scoops when I activate Decree in the End Phase that he sets three facedowns. The third duel, I get him to activate Solemn Judgement twice and got him down to 1300 lifepoints, set Blast with Chain and MST. He sets Jowgen and a facedown and ends, and I MST his facedown (Wall). I attack with DD Assailant (clears Jowgen) and I attack with Sangan. In the damage step I activate Blast and win.

Finals Round 2 Top 4: Me vs. Fiends

This was relatively fun, but I 2-0 him. Dark Necrofear comes out to deal 2200 damage. But Snatch and LV6 in my hand have the answer plus 100. The set Royal Decree ensures the victory.

Finals Round 3 Top 2: Me vs Strange Beatdown again

Weird how I see this guy again. I decide to split, only because 8 packs are fine with me. I open them up and pull a Goblin Elite and TWO Lightning Vortexes, not bad 3 Supers in 8 packs.

In the end the deck did pretty good, and I figure some minor tweaks should get it Regional ready.

Kudos:

n To the turnout, 22 duelists!

n To the TO who handed me my packs, which I pulled three supers.

n To my worthy opponents, and the true test they provided me and my deck.

Until next time! Feel free to hit me up with questions or comments and note the new email address! Everyone have a safe and happy new year!!
