 Yugioh Tournament Reports

Warriors of Odd! -Ben Jackson-E&E Card Shop and Apocalypse Games

All in Wake Forest, NC

Date: 11/5/05

The first (I think) 2 for 1 tournament report.

Hello all. It's been a LONG time since I've done one of these, so try not to kill me for all the spelling mistakes I'll make and for the bad memory. But, to make up for all that, this report will be covering TWO whole tourneys I was in. I figured I would just send them as one report as they were on the same day, they were both short, and this would save my lazy ass some time J Now, on to the first tournament, which took place at E&E Card shop in Wake Forest (or Roseville, but there both really close together)

Time: 1 PM to 4 PM.

Number of people: Around 20

Cost: $5

MoF

Mystic Swordsman LV2

Spirit Reaper x2

Exarion Universe (filler)

Cyber Dragon

Marauding Captain (during the next tourney, I replaced this with a Mobius)

Confiscation

Reinforcement of the Army (RotA for short) x2

Torrential Tribute

Bottomless Trap Hole

Dimension Wall (a filler)

The tourney starts at 1 PM, so I got there an hour early. I bought the new Warrior Theme Deck and talked to some of my buddies about Bevies and Butt-Head and Family Guy and the Simpsons. When it started, I got paired with an older guy named Scott.

Ben (ME) vs. Scott (Some sort of Zombie Deck)

The first match went by REAL slow, us both playing defense. Sadly, he went for an attack, and slowly but surely took me down. I never even touched him :P

Me: 8000-7000-500-0

Him: 8000

The next round, we both stayed in defense for a long time again, and he attacked first again, but this time, I countered. I locked him up by getting rid of his defense and attackers and then just rushed him.

Me: 8000-6300-5300-5200-4400

Him: 8000-5700-4700-2700-1300-0

This match was on time. He hit me hard and fast for a bunch. Time was called, and I lost!

Me: 8000-7100-4650-1850-TIME

Him: 8000

The next round started fast, and I was paired with some little kid named Jarret

Ben vs. Jarret (RaNdOm deck)

Match one went fast, with me rushing him. All damage I took was by Confiscation.

Me: 8000-7000

Him: 8000-5700-3700-2700-1700-0

The next round, I only lost life do to Premature. I rushed him. He had no chance at all.

Me: 8000

Him: 8000-6200-4200-2200-200-0

After this, I got some snacks, and waited. I was paired against a guy (forgot his name, sorry) with a very, uh, different deck.

First round went to him because of a Wave I couldn't stop. Ain't that the Ghetto? I was so close too! He just did every thing he needed to stay alive long enough to blast me.

Me: 8000-7200-6700-5100-6100-5000-Wave-0

Him: 8000-7400-5800-4200-2600-1600

This round, I decked. I searched way too much, and he had like 3 cards left in his deck. Bummer eh?

Me: 8000-7700-6900-6100-3900-4900-4000-5000-6000-7000-8000-7700-Deck

Him: 8000-6700-5100-4300-4200-4000-1900-1800

Well, it was Swiss style, and I didn't make top 8, so I left. That's when I thought I would go on over to Apocalypse to maybe trade with some people who were gonna play at the tournament there. When I got there, I saw my friend Mikhail playing there, so I figured I would stick around and beat him in the tourney. Now, compared to E&E, this place was bad. Most players here were really bad or just not good, so I figured it would be a very easy win. I was so wrong…

Time: 5 PM to 8 PM

Cost: $5

Number of People: Around 15

Winnings: 1st got 3 packs of CRV, and 2nd got 2 packs. You also got a pack for entering.

I played my friends (and won) and tried to get some trades in. A kid gave me a free Mobius, so yea…

When the first round came around, I saw I had a bye, so I went around checking out the other guys. I only saw three decks that I thought would even give me trouble. One was a life point gainer, but it got knocked out 2nd round, so I never went up against it. Another was a Zombie, and since I had lost to one of those already, I was wondering if I would have better luck if I had to face this guy. The last deck was this kid's who had a similar deck to mine, except with better cards! He had been messing with this kid (which was ok with me, as I didn't like that kid any way) saying that he had 3 Cyber Dragons. I thought he was cool, as he was one of the only people there who seemed to understand the Meta Game (besides my self :P) I knew if and when I played him, he would give me trouble.

Round 2 started with me vs. that kid I didn't like! His name is Cameron. He uses a very odd deck. Can you say Winged Kuriboh lover?

Me vs. Cameron (Winged Kuriboh Deck)

Match one went badly. He some how rushed me since I drew crap! He won. I really couldn't believe it.

Me: 8000-7200-2200-800-0

Him: 8000-7000-6700-5400-4100

Match two, I rushed him! He had no chance. This time, he drew garbage and I made him pay! Revenge is sweet and fun J Try it out some time.

Me: 8000

Him: 8000-7000-5900-5000-4200-3100-2000-0

Match three was amazing. By some sort of divine chance, he got out and used the Winged Kuriboh LV10! Sadly, I only had a Jujitsu Master and Rat out, so I lost very little. And one he had done that, I came back and smacked him. What a rush.

Me: 8000-7000-4300-2300

Him: 8000-7000-5000-4700-1700-1400-1200-0

Next round came up (which were the quarterfinals of this Single Elem. Tourney) so I got ready. Turned out I had to play my buddy Mikhail, who was very easy. He had never beaten me, so I figured this would go by fast.

Quarterfinals: Me vs. Mikhail (Some sort of Phoenix deck)

I beat him fast with a rush. He got some shots in, but he just couldn't stop my warriors from dealing out the pain. Exarion Universe helped out here.

Me: 8000-7000-6700-6500-5800

Him: 8000-6500-5200-3200-0

This round was the same as the first round. I got out lots of hard hitters and took him down before he could react. Though, he did beat me down during the first part of the duel with monster when I had no removal, but when I cleared the way, well, that's when he got rushed.

Me: 8000-6000-4000-3200-1700-1000-0

Him: 8000-7200-6700-5100-4000-3400-4400-3700-1750-1150-150-0

The Semifinals were coming up now, and it turned out Mr. Zombie deck and I had both gotten byes, so we had to face each other while the kid with "Warriors of Odd V.2" got the bye. I was nervous at first, until I learned what he was really running.

Semifinals: Me vs. Shawn (Zombie Stall Deck)

He started off with Ordeal of the Travelers and Spell Absorption. This slowed me down, but after a while, I got rid of them all. He then started bringing out all his big zombies, but by some chance, I was able to get rid of those too! I got out my warriors, and some how took him down before he could set up another long defense.

Me: 8000-5700-4500-2400

Him: 8000-6500-5200-2900-3400-2600-3100-3600-4100-4000-800-0

The next round, he drew NO magic or trap cards (I knew this much thanks to Confiscation) and mostly tribute zombies that he must have had for use with Call of the Mummy. I got out all my big hitters and went at him. He went down for the count!

Me: 8000-7000-6900-5800

Him: 8000-6400-4800-2400-1300-900-0

Finals: Me vs. Taylor ("Warriors of Odd V.2" featuring Phoenix and Horus)

I wanted to play this kid, and now I got the chance! Since I was gonna get packs no matter what now, I was really happy. Now, time for the final match of the tourney…

He basically rushed me before I could rush him. He had better cards too, so it was easy for him to beat me sadly.

Me: 8000-7000-2600-2100-1300-0

Him: 8000-6200-4600-5600-4800-3200

This was close! He started hitting me, and I feared he would build up a rush with his warriors again, or maybe get out his phoenix (I saw the Hand in his hand with Confiscation), but I got lucky, cleared his field, and pulled out all the stops to rush him dead. With Blades and a Cyber Dragon, I owned him.

Me: 8000-7400-6600

Him: 8000-6500-5700-2600-1300-0

The last match. I started out rushing him, but he came back with a Horus. I didn't even know HE HAD ONE! He got out level 8. I hoped to bounce it away with Jujitsu Master, but he pulled out a Breaker at the right time. He murdered me.

Me: 8000-7100-8100-7500-4500-1500-2500-0

Him: 8000-6400-5850

Now, it's time for the best part of any tourney report: PROPS AND SLOPS!

-PROPS-

I got 2 packs!

I got to have fun with lots of my friends

I got to test out this deck of mine

-SLOPS-

I lost early at E&E

Didn't get first at Apocalypse.

Got crap from every pack I opened that day!

Note that most of my deck are fillers for better cards, but if you have any suggestions for my deck, then please feel free to e-mail me suggestions any way!
