I'm goin to the Essex Championships - Kevin-Injinzo

Hey everybody, Kev here again straight off of a win in the TCG Centre yesterday. For paying the entry fee, they give everyone a promo card from the Yu-Gi-Oh games, so i chose WC5-EN003 Mind Control, super rare, simple because it rules!

I got to the tourney there 4th, there were only 3 guys there when i got there at 9am. The tourney starts at 10.30, but i wanted an early start on starting duels, trading and buying. I bought 1 DCR pack, 2 MRD packs, and 1 LOD pack. I pulled Archfiend Soldier, Gate Guardian & Cannon Sodlier(yay!) and Lesser Fiend. Not bad! Heres some of the trades i got:

I also looked through this other kids binder, he had tons of cards, 80% of them were holofoils, he said he had another at home. At this point it was time for the tourney to start, and he said "we'll trade later". Here is my deck, untouched from yesterday, apart from "Eatgaboon" to stop other people Yata-Locking me.

ROUND 1: Kev vs Timmy

I got a good opening hand so that kinda helped on this duel. All the guys here today were very good apart from the odd few little kids who were excited about playing. He actually have a very similar strategy to me. He got rid of my hand with Confiscation, Sentry, the usual stuff. Anyways, at this point he bought out the dreaded Yata. Thankfully, i had Eatgaboon and destroyed it. He was like "Wow. Thats amazing". From there on i bought out Lily and Bazoo for the first win.

ROUND 2: Kev vs Jade

A girl here? Huh? Oh well. She had a mixed deck, i couldn't really get it, but it did work. She had Newdorias on her combined with Sangan. I attacked her face down Newdoria and she got rid of my Jinzo. She went to attack with
2 Newdorias and Sangan but i Mirror Forced them all. From there on, i got out Bazoo and Tribe for the win.

ROUND 3: Kev vs Nate

An Exodia deck. At some point in the duel, he got out Heart of the Underdog and drew about 3 pieces of Exodia and said "1 more". I used Graceful Charity

and drew MST, Delinquent Duo!, Kycoo and discarded(forget what). I used Duo to get rid of 1 piece of Exodia and another Heart of the Underdog. Then i used MST to get rid of Underdog. I then bought out Kycoo and attacked for the win.

ROUND 4: Kev vs Corey

I got a bad hand in this one and thought that i wouldnt get to the championships. He got me down to 1200 life points. I do not remember how i bought myself back at all, it was a miracle. He runs a warrior deck, so it must've been Tribe. I finished him off with an attack from Lily!

ROUND 5: Kev vs Michael

This was one of the kids who was excited. He didn't really have good cards but i made out like i was in trouble for a bit and let him lower my life points a bit with his monsters like Kyonshee & Darkfire Soldier #2. I had great cards in my hand and made out "finally..thank god" and used Confiscation because he wasted his hand. Now with no cards left, i used Raigeki on him and then Yata-Locked him. Although he didnt have the cards to

get it done, he seemed to understand the game. Intermission, and i had another duel with him. I let him beat me. :) 5-0

ROUND 6: Kev vs Ricky

A beatdown deck? God these are old now.. he had a few good beatdowns, Mechanicalchaser, Luster Dragon, Gemini Elf, Blazing Inpachi...the works. He

got me down to some low life points too, around 2-3000? Anyway, it ended when i stole his Summoned Skull and attacked with it and Lily for the end.

ROUND 7: Kev vs 40 year old man

Lol. Just..Lol. He had a BEWD/Horus combo deck. He bought out each of his Horus'. He had out LV8 and Servant. I got rid of the servant with Kycoo, and

had Cylinder face down. He attacked, and dealt 3000 damage to himself. I then got out Jinzo with an Axe and got rid of his Horus. Wow. I then attacked with Kycoo, but it's not game just yet. He placed a card face down,

then used White Dragon Ritual and bought out Paladin. He sac'd it for a BEWD

and attacked my Kycoo, destroying it but dealing me some damage. I then bought out Yata, got rid of his BEWD with Jinzo and attacked for the Lock.

ROUND 8: Kev vs Justin

A Yata deck. He never got the lock on me at all, i think he got a bad hand.
He got out a few monsters for some damage, i.e Gemini, Kycoo. He also got rid of my Jinzo with Exiled, but next turn i Reborned him. I got rid of his monsters on the field with Raigeki, and his hand with Duo. That was when i Yata-Locked him for the win.

ROUND 9: Kev vs Dan

Even if i lost, theres a still a chance i would qualify. Anyone who got up to round 8 is a candidate. I got a very bad hand in this duel and he completely screwed me up with Tribe and BLS-EotB.

The judges bought up the bowl of names and picked out the lucky 4 people that qualified. Dan... Justin... ME!!... and finally, my cousin.. :( So i am going to the Essex UK Championships this month. I am really looking forward to that and i will definetly write a full report for it.

Trades after it finished, i got Tyrant Dragon, another Kycoo and Lightning Vortex! Woo!
After the tourney, the guy with all the cards traded me some holofoils for commons that he wanted. He said his mum is so rich she only buys the holos.
So i got cards such as Mirage of Nightmare, Breaker, DMoC, SoDC, Deck Devastation, Morphing Jar, Fiber Jar and many more!
