Well, last time my tournament report wasn't posted, I think that was because they posted the one of the guy that actually won the tournament. If my tournament report had been posted, you would've heard me talking about how I was going to try a Relinquished deck this week. Well…I gave up on that idea, I built it and playtested it, but it wasn't quite up to where I wanted it to be. I did find some cards I really liked while I was doing it though, such as Zaborg, the Morphs, and the extra Goats.

Before and throughout the tournament, I traded for some awesome cards that I've been needing. I traded one kid my Orca-Fortress-Whale-Thing for a Toon Gemini Elf, he had 2 of them and I didn't even know they were out already. Then I traded someone my Raigeki (since I'm never going to play Traditional again), Cyber Jar, and the Fiend Megacyber for their Dark Ruler Hades, Mudora, and common Torrential Tribute. I also traded someone for a common Snatch Steal, I forget what for, but I know it wasn't too much though.

This week was the biggest attendance they've had for an Advanced Format tournament, but it looked like a lot of little kids and new people I had never seen. There was one kid I wanted to play really badly…He was probably 11-12, had a lot of decent cards, very cocky, and would give his opinion (usually negative) on everything. I don't know about you, but it's those kinds of people I just love to beat, badly, very badly. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance, he was knocked out fairly early.

I played a practice round against another kid I had never seen before who used a weird Exodia deck I think. I beat him pretty bad with Mobius.

Duel 1: Me vs. James (New person I've never seen before)

Wasn't too worried about this one, like I've said in past tournament reports, there's plenty of signs of a beginner in this game, and this kid fit quite a few of them. The biggest giveaway was the 100+ card deck with no protectors. These duels went by pretty quickly, not much difficulty.

Me: 8000-7000-6700

            Him: 8000-7800-5800-5200-4900-2600-300-0

Same as first except I let up a little. There were about 4-5 turns where I could've finished him, but I let him live a little longer. I would've just stalled until he decked out, but seeing as how his deck was 3x the size of mine, I figured I'd end up decking first.

            Me: 8000-7000

            Him: 8000-6200-4700-3200-1700-700-0

Duel 2: Me vs. James' cousin

This was pretty much a repeat of Duel 1, big deck and all (except he actually had card protectors on his deck). The only exception was that this kid had some good cards, his biggest problem was that he couldn't summon them. I helped him a little with his deck later and saw that he had about 20+ high level monsters or nomi monsters, and only 8 lower level monsters.

            Me: 8000-7000-6200

            Him: 8000-7700-7400-5400-3400-0

Round 2 was again just like the others. I killed his hand pretty easily and just went ahead and finished him off, not taking my time this duel. It was funny because he was complaining about only drawing his "powerful" monsters after I cut his deck…well I guess that's what happens when you have 20+ of them.

            Me: 8000-7850-6850-7850

            Him: 8000-5600-2600-600-0

Duel 3: Me vs. Nate

This week he was playing with some kind of Exodia deck using the different OTK combos. My monsters were just taking out his hand and he couldn't manage to pull either combo off. His Spell Absorption was very annoying both rounds, I didn't realize how much it could help. First round alone he gained over 6000 with it.

            Me: 8000-7000-6000

            Him: 8000-9000-8700-9200-9700-9500-9200-9700-7300-7800-8300-5600-6100-4800-1100-1600-300-800-1300-1800

For the second round, I sidedecked in 2 Locusts, Mobius, and a Soul Release. Luckily I got to use all of those. About 2nd turn, I used Don to dump 2 cards from the top of his deck, one of them being an arm, I then Soul Released it, basically screwing him over, or so I thought. This round went on a lot longer than expected, he ended up getting both Manticores and a Gearfried on the field at the same time. I had to stall until I could get something to destroy them. At one point, we had a debate about whether or not Last Will would get the effect if it were activated after the monster was killed. I knew I could, but we had to ask anyways and I ended up being right.

            Me: 8000-6400-6000-5700-5300

            Him: 8000-9000-9500-10000-10500-10100-8500-7100-6800-4900-3000-0

Duel 4: Me vs. Matt

I had hoped it wouldn't come down to this, the same guy I had to play last time for the finals. But, after changing around some of the stuff in my deck, I knew I had a much better chance. First round, I only lost 1000 due to Confiscation surprisingly. All 3 of our duels last time were very close. I don't remember too many details of this duel, I was really nervous. It doesn't help when you have kids sitting next to you who tell us that they're betting on him. His Scientist came into play a lot during both rounds.

            Me: 8000-7000

            Him: 8000-7000-6000-5000-2900-1500-0

I was shaking as much after the first round, but it knew the next round(s) wouldn't be so easy. I looked through my sidedeck and of course had nothing to fight against his deck. Again, I forget most of the details of this round. At one point, I ran Serpent into his Scientist and then Fissured his Jinzo. I was left with an open field, but he didn't have anything too hit me with.

            Me: 8000-7700-6000-4300

            Him: 8000-7000-5500-4500-3500-0

For my prize, I took the Backpack and 2 packs of FET. From FET I pulled Granmarg the Rock Monarch and Meteor of Destruction. From my tournament pack I pulled a Kycoo. The backpack is awesome, at first I didn't want to get it, but now I'm happy I did. It's gonna be a lot easier for me to haul all my stuff around now.

Pros:

            -     Winning

            -     Last Will being an underrated card.

            -     Advanced Format allowing people with skill, but not all the good cards, to have a chance to win.

-         My parents actually driving us out there.

-         Getting awesome prizes

-         Advanced Format allowing people to use originality in building a competitive deck.

-         Getting awesome trades

Cons:

-         Cocky little kids who aren't very good.
