Rulers, Monarchs and Muscle Ben Parker TBS Comics Pensacola, Florida 2/26/05 $3 Entry - Advanced Format 7 People - 5 packs 1st, 2 packs 2nd Hey Pojo Fans, I just got home from a whirlwind weekend with my girl going through Pensacola and Mobile for FET Weekend. The Stop in Pensacola brought up TBS Comics and their weekly Saturday Tournament My little hybrid modifies Regnr8's Monarch Deck with a Few Nasty Surprises and works quite well interestingly enough Tributes 1x Dark Ruler Hades 2x Zaborg the Thunder Monarch 1x Great Maju Garzett 1x Jinzo 1x Mobus the Frost Monarch 1x Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch Regular 1x Breaker the Magical Warrior 3x Nimble Momonga 2x Berserk Gorilla 1x Giant Orc 2x Archfiend Soldier 1x Sinister Serpent 1x Magician of Faith 1x Cyber Jar 1x Fiber Jar Spells 1x Premature Burial 2x Creature Swap 1x Soul Exchange 1x Heavy Storm 2x Nobleman of Crossout 1x Mystical Space Typhoon 1x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Scapegoat 1x Dark Core 1x Pot of Gred 1x Change of Heart 1x Book of Moon 1x Snatch Steal Traps 1x Sakuretsu Armor 1x Ring of Destruction 1x Hallowed Life Barrier 2x Bottomless Trap Hole 1x Call of the Haunted 1x Magic Drain 1x Dust Tornado Before things got started I ran into an old school chum of mine who was also entering. We fun dueled twice and I won both. A Kid showed up and had his "deck", basically a stacker on examination he had 2 Gracefuls, 3 Monster Reborns and a bunch of less than 1900 atk non Effect Tribute Monsters. I pulled the banned cards and tried to help him out a bit but I knew nothing'd work to make it any more competitive. I kept my score sheet but didn't take notes so some of my memory is a bit hazy. I'll do my best however. 3 Rounds of Swiss then Top 4 Round 1 - RRM vs Fred - Fire Deck Fred runs a very nice Fire Deck with enough support to get out loads of normally fairly weak monsters and beef them up into good beatsticks. BOTH of us drew either nothing but S/T and Tribute Monsters for at least 5 turns, I know all I had was Thestalos as far as monsters went. By the time a Gorilla hit the field he Bottomlessed it. I returned the favor on his Blazing Inpachi. I finally Changed a Set Monster for Thestalos, pulled out his Molten Destruction and smacked him for 2400. He drew, got nothing and ended so I drew and hit him for another 2400. I dunno much after that but he got rid of my Thestalos, Mysticaled my set Scapegoat which I chained and he special summoned Inferno to hit a token and deliver 1500. I Brought out Mobius, hit his Inferno and next turn took the game Game 2 Ugh..a reversal of worlds as he beat me down to a "modest" 5600-0 loss. The worst thing is that the kid I tried helping earlier sat there and watched our game and kept telling the other guy what to do and that whoever won would lose to him next round and crap like that. I was about to reach over and strangle him. I glared and just told him to back off, his advice was unwanted and he shut up. Game 3 a near mirror of game 2 except I started to come back. I got Archfiend Soldier onto the field with Dark Ruler to back him up. Destroyed his Fiber Jar thanks to effect and he had no hand. He drew and topdecked POT..I was ughed. He got his 2 cards, set one and ended. I drew, he had an open field and only had 2150 left to my 800. I had to hope and attacked with Hades into Cylinder and took the loss. Well..you live and learn. 0-1 Round 2 I played the hardest guy there..the Bye..and somehow won..lol. Byes = Wins so I got 3 pt Round 3 - RRM vs Nathan - Dragon's and other stuff This was the guy I fun dueled before the tournament Game 1 I had my girlfriend kiss me for good luck..after this I should have her do it more often one of the quickest and most lopsided duels ever. I won the Jaken game and went first Summoning a Gorilla and ending. He drew, Summoned Lord of D and played Card Destruction, I lost a Mobius and some other stuff and pulled Garzett, Premature, Change of Heart and another card I forgot. He ended and I drew, Prematured Mobius, tributed for Garzett(4800), changed his Lord of D(1200) and still had my Gorilla on the field(2000). A Total of 8000 in one hit and all I took was the Premature Cost. Game 2 a bit tougher..no kiss beforehand..yeah..must have her kiss me before games from now on. I drew all Spells and Traps and he got out his Blue Eyes rather quickly and hit me for 3000, I snatched it next turn and hit HIM for 3000. He got back 1000 lp. Some back and forth shuffling of control, with him using every bit of life gain he had to try and regain advantage lead to his downfall as I kept bringing out my Beatsticks and went for game. So that's a 2-1 Record. I asked the person running the tournament if it was enough to get to finals, the girl didn't know if she'd do top 2 or 4. She did 4 and I got into the finals Round 1 Finals - RRM vs Clayton - Amazoness Deck. First attack of the game we had a problem. I set a Nimble and a couple traps and ended. He summoned Mystic Swordsman 2 and added Big Bang Shot. He attacked and I responded with Dust Tornado on the BBO removing MS2 from the game. He argued that my Nimble would be destroyed via the effect regardless of the attack getting through. Someone else who was a regular there sided with me and we went ahead. I summoned Reflect and attacked directly for 1700. Next turn he summoned Amazoness Fighter and attacked my Nimble hoping it was a Cyber for more Amazons. Obviously not, got 1000 and summoned a 2nd Nimble. Next turn tributed it for Hades and attacked Fighter for 950 since Hades has his nifty effect negation. Couple more turns brought out enough attack power to get game. Game 2 Much tougher as we both jockyed for control with him taking a nice lead dropping me to 1300 while still having 2500. I summoned Archfiend Soldier and attacked his Amazoness Tiger dropping him to 2200. Next turn he summoned Swords Woman(or whichever redirects battle damage) and ended I drew and had two tributes in my hand, Jinzo and Garzett. I thought for a moment and attacked Swords Woman with Soldier to take my LP down to 900 and during MP2 I tributed for Jinzo wanting Trap Relief rather than Brute Strength. He drew..and conceded Well by the time I won the 2nd game I asked how the other two were doing, they were still on the first game and one guy was 5 cards away from deckout. I waited around and finally said good luck and withdrew for 2nd Place. 1st Organized Tournament, 7 people and 2nd place. Not TOO shabby. The guy who won Match 1 of the other semi finals ran a spellcaster deck with some swarming capabilities..and I was off to Mobile for FET Weekend. xshauncallenx@aol.com
