Deck Name: Warriors With Cool Armor Name: Alex Davis Tournament Location: The Fine Art of Baseball (Entry Fee: $10 even, with Duelist Benefits, like trading with the store owner and his single cards in the store, and discounts on packs/boxes/tins, etc.) City and State: Columbia, SC Date: February 5, 2005 # of Duelists: 16 Wow, a much bigger turnout than there usually is. I'm not complaining though. I didn't go to the tourney last week because of that big winter storm that caused roads to become icy and a bit unsafe to drive on. But that's ok, cause today was going to make up for it. I got there and waited to see the owners cards, just to see if he had any good warriors that'd make my deck better. I saw on top of some stacks both a Luminous Soldier (The ULR from TP5) and Toon Gemini Elf (The new DL promo, DL6 I think). A guy bought it for 15 bucks and amazingly, no one got the TGE. But I saw both a Don Zaloog and Painful Choice in his stacks, so I traded an ULR Fiend Megacyber, DB1 Ceasefire, and some other crappy super rare for them both, YAY! I put them in my deck and went through Deck-check. Here's my new deck list (you can see how much it has improved by just looking at my last Tourney report!): Total: 44 Tributes: 4 ----------- Dark Ruler Ha Des Jinzo Mobius The Frost Monarch Airknight Parshath Level 4 -: 16 ------------- Goblin Attack Force Breaker The Magical Warrior Kycoo The Ghost Destroyer D. Even though there are 10 more people than there were last time, I still face him, in the first round no less! Ok Andrew, it's on. He beat me last time, but this time will be different. The First duel was mostly pwn'd by me. He didn't pull much out besides using Apprentice magician to stall, and Kycoo to attack. We pulled tribe on each other and I suicided. That was probably only real mistake in the tourney this week. I didn't have many options and I was pressed to make a move, so that's all I could think of at the time. Surprisingly, he barely used any traps on me the entire match, because he's usually full of them. I was able to get some of my warriors out and power them up to take the first duel. The second duel around, I was able to get two heavy strikes in, lowering him down to 2700, but he was much more consistent this time around, and got 3 major hits on me to finish me off. He was able to get out Mystic Swordsman LV4 out with Cyber jar during our last duel, but using Don, and 3 other warriors with The A. Forces and The Fusion Sword, I was able to strike him down with a +5700 hit. This match goes to me, but as per deductive reasoning, I should lose next time... we'll see. MATCH #2: Alex's Warriors vs. Jesse's Light Monsters All I can say is, easy. He just started play-testing that deck, but against a pure powerhouse deck like a Warrior deck, it just doesn't stand a chance. About all he was about to use on me the entire match was Shining Angel/Luminous Spark combo. But that didn't stand a chance against my Don/Fusion Sword/A. Forces combo. A 2600 Don stayed on the field the entire duel, from turn 1, and was about the only monster needed to win the first duel, thanks to his hand-D ability. Another Don came to help out for a few turns, but I still won without any damage that duel. 2nd duel was almost exactly the same, he was able to get Airknight on me with LS for a 2400 hit, but guess what? Don/FS/A.F combo AGAIN BABY! After 2/3 turns, I got him with a Blade Knight (at 2800)/Don (at 2600) hit for the match. MATCH #3: Alex's Warriors vs. Ted's Light's and Dark's He didn't use field powerups for them, but he didn't need to. I won the first match by using Kycoo and Jinzo to overrun him, and he only got a hit in with Archfiend Soldier. I THOUGHT that the match would go swimmingly from there, but boy was I FREAKIN WRONG. I got Ha Des out early on, but he SS'd it and I struggled the rest of the duel, only to lose. The last duel was the most pwning duel I've had in a while... if only it was ME doing the pwning. I had been getting my CoH/Jinzo combo in my hand just about every match today, but that didn't help me this time. I got Jinzo out, only for him to be Book of Moon'd, then had Ted use Royal Decree! I couldn't activate my FD Ring of Destruction, and next turn, he killed my jinzo with Archfiend soldier. Without traps, I knew it was going to be hard. I didn't draw anything the rest of the duel that helped me out, and I lost. To his credit, he was very good, he'd been coming to the tourney since season 2 (we are in season 8 for those who didn't know, we run official 4 month season's). MATCH #4: Alex's Warriors vs. Ben's General Monsters (for 3rd & 4th place) This match sucked. Ben's previous match took so long from rulings and time stops that we were forced into 3 minute duels. By the time he had moved his stuff over to my table to begin, only a minute was left. We played so fast, I think we both skipped writing our LP's down in favor of saving time, doing calculations in our head. It truly was a frantic pace we were playing at. Ben stomped me down the first duel, as it's tough for me to make solid decisions so quickly. He got out Mataza and another monster to lower me to 3100 before time was up and he was declared winner of duel #1, I did use Tribe to wipe out all 4 goat tokens in 1 swipe though, so that was fun. The next Duel ended up in a tie, without any damage to either player, so we went on to the last duel. This winner would win the entire match, because of time constraints. We both, hilariously, used Exiled Force solely for attacking the entire time, but he got through mine, then hit later with Reflect Bounder eventually getting me down to 6300, with him at 7000 to win the match. 4th place for me. Well, 4th ain't bad, especially knowing that 16 guys were in it this week. The only real problem with the entire thing was that whole 3 minute duel. I could have won if not for the rush rush rush pace of it all. That, coupled with the fact that 4th place is the cut-off point for prizes sucks too. So I got that far, and did so well, only to get nothing. Even though I didn't win, I sure felt like I did. My new Don worked out beautifully, and I felt good about it overall. Before I wrap it up, I just wanted to tell you this real quick. My friend that comes with me to the tourney each week started using a new deck this time, a Zombie. He uses mostly structure deck cards, but added and enhanced the whole thing to definitely be a tourney contender. He was in a duel with a guy who got out a BLS: EotB on him. BLS attacked his Ryu Kokki, Devon used Waboku, BLS gets destroyed through RK's effect. Next turn, He uses Book of Life to remove BLS! I just thought that that was total pwnage right there. Nice move. Pros: + I have to save this first spot for my best friend Devon. He, in building his new Zombie deck, is letting me use his warriors/other cards that he had in his previous deck until he needs them again, which were: Mobius, AirKnight, His super rare LON Kycoo (over my rare TP Kycoo), DDWL, 1 Don, and Marauding Captain. + For getting a Don Zaloog and Painful Choice in the same night. + For beating Andrew after last time's defeat. + For having an overall great time meeting new people and talking about stuff. + Space Cataz! Cons: - That whole 3 minute per duel match, and subsequently, not getting anything for 4th place. - Once again getting crappy commons in my TP5 pack. - For missing last week's chance at dueling the judge, who decides to take off the only week I'm not there, to duel regularly in the tourney.
