RegnR8's TwoTrapTechChaos
Tournament Report for August 7, 2005

Hi all,

Welcome to today's edition of the tournament report. I hope this writing finds you well and winning!

Yesterday, I decided to simply play with a fun little Skull Servant deck, and as expected, I got my butt whipped. Today, I turned to the dark side and used a chaos deck. I know, I know, it goes against all that is holy and sacred. But, I decided to really tech it out so that it really couldn't be classified as a total CCC deck. Notice the lack of traps, hence the name of the deck. I was going to call it the NoTrapTechChaos but Call of the Haunted is just too good not to run.

Here it is.

TwoTrapTechChaos

x1 Black Luster Soldier - Enjoy of the Beginning
x1 Airknight Parshath
x1 Jinzo
x2 Magician of Faith
x2 Night Assailant
x2 Tsukuyomi
x1 Blade Knight
x1 DD Warrior Lady
x1 Reflect Bounder
x1 Sangan
x1 Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer
x1 Breaker the Magical Warrior
x1 Tribe Infecting Virus
x1 Sinister Serpent

x1 Pot of Greed
x1 Graceful Charity
x1 Delinquent Duo
x1 Snatch Steal
x1 Lightning Vortex
x1 Heavy Storm
x1 Mystical Space Typhoon
x1 Premature Burial
x2 Nobleman of Crossout
x2 Nobelman of Extermination
x2 Book of Moon
x3 Scapegoat
x3 Metamorphosis
x1 Swords of Revealing Light

x1 Dust Tornado
x1 Call of the Haunted

As you can see, the monster line up is fairly typical. The S/T lineup is a little unorthodox, to say the least, most notiably, the lack of traps and the addition of the two Nobleman of Extermination which came in handy today. Since I'm not using the staple traps, I could play the NoE without worry.

Maybe 20 people today. Not too big a crowd.

Got there a little early and practiced dueled. The NoE's really came in handy, consistantly wiping out my opponents Bottomless Trap Hole and Waboku and occasionally hitting a key Mirror Force or Magic Cylinder. Pretty cool.

The one drawback I discovered during the course of the day about the deck was my inability to get rid of my own Thousand Eyes Restrict when I wanted to. Many times, TER was on the field for much too long, allowing my opponent and myself to just sit and stall, continually drawing cards. That was a bad thing sometimes. So, I need to work on that aspect if I want to continue to work this deck a little bit.

ROUND 1

TwoTrapTechChaos VS SWORDSMAN

I wasn't too sure what this guys deck was all about at first. After the first duel, it was clear he was running a Warrior build based around Silent and Mystic Swordsman. I haven't really dueled against a very good Swordsman deck, and sadly to say, after this match, I still haven't dueled against a very good Swordsman deck. LoL.

GAME 1

I make a mistake. I could have won if I had either used Premature Burial or Call of the Haunted to bring out a third monster to finish him off. I got him down to 300LP and could have attacked with the third monster for the win, but I didn't. Next turn, he got out a Breaker with two S/T cards and equipped it with Mage Power and killed me. DoH!

GAME 2

He plays defensiely the entire game, setting monsters. I draw both my Nobleman of Crossout early and clear his field, attacking him a few turns with my Sangan. He mass summons a bunch of warriors with Marauding and attacks my Sangan and LP for a bit but I get Sinister with Sangan and am holding Lightning Vortex in my hand. I clear his field next turn and summon a Kycoo and begin removing monsters from his graveyard. A
couple of turns later I special summon BLS and it's over.

GAME 3

His own Cyber Jar kills him. I have Book of Moon and Call of the Haunted set. I attack his Cyber Jar with Airknight. He gets A Goblin Attack Force. I get Kycoo, Magician of Faith and Tsukuyomi. I chain Book of Moon to his GAF and Call to my Airknight and continue the attack, hitting him for a combined LP damage of 4700 and the win.

ROUND 2

TwoTrapTechChaos VS WATER/FIRE Burn

This is a pretty interesting deck, a mix of Solar Flare Dragon, Wave Motion Cannon, ALO, Gravity Bind, Amphibous Bugroth and other techy cards.

GAME 1

Oh gosh. The brokeness of Tsukuyomi/Magician of Faith/Book of Moon is so totally WRONG! I get Graceful Charity's effect 4 times in one turn. Brutal. BLS, Reflect Bounder a Premature Burial'd Jinzo on an open field kills him in one turn. That's sick and should not be allowed to happen.

GAME 2

Holy Smokes! I can't get rid of a SINGLE Gravity Bind and a flipping Tornado wall! A Wave Motion Cannon destroys me for 3000LP and his Bugroth with ALO out hurts me. I finally get Jinzo out, but he drops a bigger water monster on me and I get blitzed. GG.

GAME 3

Ooops. More brokeness. Nobleman of Extermination gets rid of his Gravity Binds. Yeah, he could have activated them in a chain but, I wasn't telling him that. I know, I'm mean. I MST his Wave Motion Cannon. He starts top decking and BLS with Airknight finished him off.

ROUND 3

TwoTrapTechChaos VS antigoatChaos

I know this deck has Asura Priest with Big Bang Shots so, I need to play a little more carefully.

GAME 1

Uhhh, well. It's over in like three turns. I lose the die roll. He sets 2 S/T and that's it. I open up with Pot of Greed. I know he has crap for a hand when I MST his set Delinquent Duo and NoE his Lightning Vortex. I set Magician of Faith and activate SoRL.

He sets a monster.

I flip up my MoF, play Pot again, Morph the MoF to TER and take his set Morphing Jar. I tribute TER for Jinzo and he can't recover. It's a fairly easy win for me.

GAME 2 and 3

He side decks. I do not. After the match, I asked him if he side decked out all the Asura Priest and Big Bang Shot for a straight chaos build,
and he said he had.

Well, the brokeness of who draws the best cards first wins became all to apparent. In the second game, he Delinquent's my Graceful Charity and plays his own and Pot of Greed and I can not recover.

The third game I stall way too long with TER and we both fill our hands with cards and when I finally get rid of TER to attack him, he drew the better cards and pulled the BLS, Jinzo, Airknight move on me and that was that. GG.

Well, I I didn't take the advice of MXC and got eliminated in the third round but, I was pleased with the way the deck worked with only the two traps. I felt it was pretty competitive. We hung out and I dueled some other people and won all the time, so I think the deck is OK. I don't really like chaos but, I was feeling frisky that day. Hah..

Until next time, happy dueling!!
