Deck Name: Knights with Cool Armor My Name: Alex Davis Location of Tournament: The Fine Art of Baseball (Entry Fee: $10 even, with Duelist Benefits, like trading with the store owner and his single cards from the store, and discounts on packs/boxes/tins, etc.) City and State: Columbia, SC Date: January 22, 2005 # of Duelists: 6 Hi, this is my first TR, so I hope you enjoy. Well first, I go to the 7pm tournament, even though they have both a 12pm and 7pm tourney. Why? Cause it's more convieniant for me, oh well. I go with my best friend, who is arguably better than me, though we each have our fair share of wins/loses against each other. We go there at the tourney and I didn't see any cards I needed for my deck to trade for/buy from the store, so I just bought a Command Knight tin and 3 LOD packs instead. Nothing good really. Diffusion Wave Motion, Baltar, maybe something else, but overall I didn't get anything worth mentioning besides that. I put the command Knight in my deck and waited to go into it. The same guys usually come to this tourney every week, so I know how to deal with them, and how their decks work, but they are all still very good. Here is my list: Tributes: 4 ----------- Dark Ruler Ha Des Jinzo Dark Driceratops Total Defense Shogun Level 4 -: 13 ------------- Goblin Attack Force Breaker The Magical Warrior Kycoo The Ghost Destroyer D. My friend got beat by him last week, and my friend, this past summer, almost beat the 2nd ranked duelist in the country (no joke, the guy was 2nd ranked in points in the entire country, and this was during a tourney with at least 25 people), so I was a little surprised at that to say the least. I knew mostly what cards I was going to encounter, but for them to beat my friend?! I knew he was good. I saw why early on. He mostly used Harpie Lady #2 and some Harpies Bro's. he pulled a Roc from the Valley of Haze on me as well. Somehow, he was able to get many monsters out on the field quickly, and power them up with that Harpie lady and Raising Air Current. Luckly I was able to fend him off with Command Knight/Blade Knight combo. I got Total Defense Shogun out on him with an Axe, and did major damage their too. Even though he was able to get many monsters out on me, I was able to win the first and 2nd duels by using my traps to destroy his monsters, magics to get rid of those powerups of his, and my Knight combo to beat him into the ground. MATCH #2: Alex's Warriors vs. Andrew's Spellcasters This is one of my rivals so-to-speak. He has an excellent Spellcaster/warrior/DM deck here. He uses Apprentice Magician a lot, to thin his deck and to get out Old Vindictive Magician. He has at least 1 DMG, and at least 1 DM, but he's only gotten 1 DM out on me since we started dueling each other a few weeks ago. He also uses Kycoo and Mystic Swordsman LV 4, very effectively I might add. He also sorta specializes in monster controlling cards like CoH, SS, Enemy Controller, and Creature Swap. The first duel, he admitted to having a really bad hand, all thanks to my expert shuffling, lol. I was able to put him away rather quickly that duel. The exact opposite happened next. My Notes say I lost 1000, then 1800, then 5200 to lose the match. I didn't get any on him. The last duel was much more balanced, as I got in a hit with both DD and Blade Knight (at 'low power'), and then he stole my Knight and used him at Max Power to really hurt me. I didn't survive. All was not lost though, as I still feel like I can beat him, our record is now 1/1 I think, as I won our first encounter. I really enjoy dueling him and his deck though. Now on to the last duel, officially for 3rd and 4th place. MATCH #3 Alex's Warriors vs. Devon's... Monsters... Devon is my best friend. I've seen and even helped him with his deck since he started the game back in early 2003. I still don't know of anything else to call it other than General. A General deck. He has nothing that gives it a solid theme, and he even had more trap cards than Magics. Yet he is one of the best duelists I've seen, personally I mean. Me and him are usually always favored to win the 7pm tourneys, but that doesn't make me cocky, I actually have a rather 'loser's mentality' to it. I go into it hoping to do my best, but I know it's hard to win, oh well. We went into it like always, this actually being only the 2nd or 3rd time we've faced each other in the actual tourney since we joined in late 2003 (we usually just free duel each other). Anyway, to summerize, I won both duels. Without too much effort even. His deck is like that, he even lost to a guy with a Zorc deck, which is rather easy. His deck works most of the time, but when it fails him, it fails him hard. I was able to, again, pull out my Knight combo, which is my favorite 'on field' monster combo in the game, and deal some major damage to him. My average amount of damage per life point hit was usually 2000-2400. I was able to get my oddly placed Ha Des out and negate some of his monsters. He was however about to get two of his spirit reapers out on me and then later summon Guardian Angel Joan. Sakuretsu Armor baby. That was about his biggest move against me that comes to mind. He'll do better next time... but then again, so will I :) Well, I got third (which doesn't feel so bad knowing that this store and it's YGO tourneys are the 3rd best in the country, and it has some of the best duelists in the country), and he got 4th, with Andrew coming in 1st against Ken's Zorc deck. I got a TP5 pack, commons, and 2 RDS packs, Pikeru, but that was it. More people will be there next week, so the duels will be more interesting. If anyone has any comments for me, about my deck or anything else, please email me. Pros: + Got lots of packs for $30, and overall (CK tin with 5 packs for 20 even, 3 LOD packs for 10 even, 2 RDS packs for 3rd, 1 TP5 pack for just entering like everyone else). + Got to duel three guys who I always have lots of fun against. + Had a great time in general with the guys there, always lots of laughs. + Space Cataz! Cons: - Besides that one card, CK, I didn't get a single card I wanted or needed from those $30 worth of cards. - The store didn't have any cards I needed for my deck, even after 3 weeks of not having anything. - Not winning. I guess 3rd isn't bad, but when you only have 6 people, it's not something you want to shout out. Name: Alex Davis Email: JediKnights@sc.rr.com
