SPK's Deck Anime City 8.0 National Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament Bishops/Trinity East Campus Trincity, Trinidad & Tobago. 28/08/2004. 3 Divisions (Junior, Senior, Master) This is my first Tourney Deck Report. I really cannot say for sure how many participants there were in the tourney, because there were so many duelists present. For my category (Master), I estimate there were about 64 duelists approx. He had a budget Chaos deck, and to be frank, he was the toughest first round match I had in my dueling experience. He lost both duels, but not before whittling my life points away with Jinzo and Chaos Sorcerer, but fortunately in the second duel, when he was well on top and smashing my life points away, he got cocky and didn't remove my only remaining defence monster, which just so happened to be Cyber Jar ^_^. In the first duel, he lost with me on 2600 LP, and the second duel with me having 1300 LP. In both cases though, i wasn't seeing my CED anywhere just yet, else that would have made things quite easier. The second round match, I can't remember the guy's name, but i knew his face from previous tournaments, but he normally sells cards, and not duel, this being his first participating tournament. His deck seemed to be a beatdown deck, but knowing him being a seller of cards, he had to have quite a few tricks up his sleeve. The first duel though, was just murder. He got shot down on every tactic he was trying, having finally being able to bring out CED, and lost with me still having about 6400 LP remaining. However, in the second duel that we matched up, he handed me back an equally solid beating, having only done less than 1000 damage to his LP....stupid Night Assailant/Slate Warrior >_<. The final duel, we both went at it tooth and nail, bringing out Jinzo and inflict some massive damage early on...however, he began to draw some seriously good cards....and well, I wasn't drawing anything worthwhile just yet :(. It came down to me on 400 LP (which I didn't know, I thought I had more) and him on 2400 LP. I had Delinquent Duo in my hand, and just drew a Premature Burial. I began to smile because I thought I would have been able to use it, and he activated his face down card, Disturbance Strategy. Thus, the cards went back in the deck, and lo and behold, who would I draw then but Call Of The Haunted and CED. CED came out and killed his Slate Warrior, leaving him to topdeck for his next card with 1300 LP. He drew and set it face down in the Spell/Trap Zone, immediately I activated Call, bringing back my Jinzo...and well...gg. :) The round of 16, I came up against a guy that I play a lot against, named Ryan. We normally go match for match in our duels, and he knows how to play, him having a more light-based deck, but with some twists. Well, I lost the first duel, both of us scraping at each other's LP, but he managed to draw some really good cards and countered every time I began to take an upper hand. The second duel was more of the same. We both ended up topdecking, and ended up with a Painful Choice. At that point, I needed a drawing card or recursion, so I went for those, him giving me Call Of TheHaunted. He had only a Tribe on the field, and I set the Call and ended. Lucky bastard drew his Breaker though, giving him the chance to destroy my Call and attack for the win. :( Well we both agreed that we kept each other on edge for the entire game, and it was good on the most part. I didn't get much chance to follow up on the rest of the tournament, some incidents occured (see below) that diverted my attention, but whatever. All I know is that a couple of duelists i know ended up winning the Masters division: Chicken & Beer 1st, and Balki (Chaotic) coming second, all I heard was that C&B pulled off yet another Yugi to take the tournament. PROPS: Getting my Painful Choice and Breaker on the day. Watching anime as well as dueling ^_^ Got to claim some revenge on Ryan afterwards in a casual Duel :) Hearing Evolution play while dueling (got me to a hyped up mode while that song was going on :P) Dueling with Handcuffs on ^_^ (Useful for making other ppl go "WTF?!") Dressing as the Rare Hunter that got caught (Hence the handcuffs :P). SLOPS: A couple of friends got their bags stolen and lost some valuable stuff including a good digital camera and some rare anime...:( Not making it further than 3rd round once again :P. Well that's it for now...next time may be for another tournament coming up here called ETC. Hope to write again. For those who care, u can email me : spk1983@hotmail.com P.S. Big up to Chicken and Balki for squaring off in the finals :). U all have real talent, if they can only sponsor people like you to go for international tournaments...enjoy your PS2 boy Chicken :P.
