Here is another report from Brookhaven, MS. As it does every Saturday, the Computer Place of Brookhaven held its 18 and under tournament. This go round I had an eerie sense of De Ja Vous as Kyle's Nightmare of Fiend Deck ran shop, but not as easily as before. The 2 winners and 1 losers brackets came down to 3 duels to decide the finals. Daniel Friis vs. Adam O'Malley, TJ Elkins vs. Rebecca Reeves, and Kyle Powell vs. Brandon Rushing (Captain Nerveball, hes REAL jumpy). Then the winners of these played to determine the final. Kyle vs. Daniel went first. Kyle's bag o'tricks came through for him again as he went on to win and play against the TJ v. Rebecca winner.Rebecca had TJ on the ropes after beating him one round with her earth deck, and had just Monster reborned TJ's Injection Fairy, payed 4000 of her 10,000 LP to make her 6,400 and still leave her with 6000 LP, but when she attacked, TJ played the only card he had on the field, Magic Cylinder, and Rebecca lost. So the final was between TJ and Kyle, and that duel went like this: It wasn't the longest duel, we finished a bit early due to that. TJ went 1st and layed 2 m/t. Then ended his turn. Kyle went and played Giant Orc and attacked TJ's Life points directly, TJ = 5800. TJ drew and played Dark Hole. Kyle activated his facedown card, Spell Shield 8 negating Dark Hole. Kyle draws and lays 1 m/t and Opticlops and then attacks with Opticlops. TJ activated Magic Cylinder and hit Kyle for 1800, TJ = 5800 and Kyle = 6200. Second main, Kyle tributes Giant Orc for Dark Ruler Ha-Des, and ends his turn. TJ draws and lays 1 monster down in face-down deffense then ends his turn. Kyle draws and attacks the face- down card with Ha-Des, its Familiar Knight, but Ha Des keeps it from activating. So Kyle attacks with Opticlops and ends his turn. TJ = 4000 Kyle = 6200. TJ draws but is stuck with no plays. He ends his turn. Kyle draws and attacks with both Dark Ruler and Opticlops, combined attack for 4000 direct. TJ is stuck and is defeated. So Kyle, once again, comes out on top and has his choice of 5 dollars or Medura, 4 fairies and an equip card for fairies. He says he already owns Medura so he opts for the money. AND THAT as they say IS THAT! Kyle ran shop once again, this makes 2 weeks in a row. Can someone please come to the Computer Place in Brookhaven MS and rid of us of this fiend carrying, trick playin, attack machine? *sigh* oh well. Who knows? It all comes down to the next draw. Kyle can't last forever, can he? I happen to know that Adam O'Malley has restructured his deck to include a beatdown theme but with a healthy dose of chaos, Envoy of the Beginning anyone? Plus Rebecca Reeves's Earth deck is getting stronger by the day. (the reason I know this, is I build and maintain both of their decks, whos envoy you think he has, huh?) ANYWAY! Best of luck to all players next go round. Oh and Brandon? Take your Rittilin before you come next time (or at least keep it to 8 cups of coffee, jumpy little cuss) And don't worry, Exodia Necross will have his day! Thats all my time. I'm out. Come see me on Saturdays at the Computer Place in Brookhaven. Jason Reeves jreeves@dailyleader.com
