Hi all,

Welcome to another tournament report.

Since the new tournament format was instigated, this was the first week after the new forbidden ban list the store was using the "Traditional" format. Last week, we played by the fobidden list and it was fun. The store now has a 13 and under tournament before the all ages one, and my daughter totally dominated and won easily. We couldn't make it to the 13 and under tournament this week, but it didn't really matter because my daughter has switched her deck to a post ban deck and it's too much trouble to change it back.

I almost didn't go to the tournament today because I like the Advanced format so much better. I couldn't stay away though.

All of my decks are post ban now. I didn't want to remake a deck I had already run before so, I needed to build at least one deck to use in the Traditional format tournaments. I decided to try my hand at a Horus deck. I had to cannibalize two decks, taking cards from both to round out my new deck. I quickly put it together the morning of the tournament and did not play test it at all. Since I had never played it, was unfamiliar with the mechanics and effects of the deck, I fully expected to lose early.

Anyway, here's the deck. I will be making changes on it in the near future.

I know it needs work, but it's all I could throw together on sudden notice.

We got there a little early and did some trading. Soon, the tournament was underway.

ROUND 1

Horus VS Clown Control

This was laughably easy. Peten the Dark Clown stalled for a bit but the uber powerful banned cards Raigeki and Harpie's took care of his field and I beat him down both games. A breeze.

ROUND 2

Horus VS Zombie

William has come a long way since I first dueled him. He use to run an equip beatdown deck which I mercilessly destroyed every time I played him. I gave him some advice and he took it. He tried an Exodia deck for a couple of weeks and that didn't work. This week he came with a Zombie deck that was very effective and had me on the ropes all three duels.

GAME 1

Wow. This deck can get out the big hitters fast. I Graceful Charity and Monster Reborn Horus LVL6 and set a WotBF. I get LV8 on the field next turn and he RoD's it. That sucks. Oh well, we both take 3000LP damage and we trade attacks back and forth for a while until I win.

GAME 2

Man, Vampire Lord, a Call of the Mummy summoned Despair From the Dark and Yata Garasu locks me up early for the loss.

GAME 3

I Torrential Trubuted his Yata Garasu on the second turn and that was it for him. As soon as you could say "Bob's your Uncle", Horus LV8 was on the field and I negated every spellcard he tried to activate and I won. Horus is BROKEN!

ROUND 3

Horus VS Beatdown

Well, it's Josh and I. We always have great duels and these were no exceptions.

GAME 1

Josh got Magical Scientist on the field and sucked up my Horus LV8 and LVL6 with two TER. He paid too much LP just to get rid of them only to have me Monster Reborn LV8 for the kill.

GAME 2

I Torrential Tribute when he summons Scientist and I dominate from that point. 8000LP - 0LP. Torrential is really working for me today.

SEMI-FINALS

Horus VS Hand Control

Once again, I have to duel Joseph, who has a great hand control deck, and I was slapped around like a schoolboy getting his lunch money taken by the local bully. Ha! The first game I put up a little fight but the second game I got my butt KICKED!

Well, I place third so that was much better than expected. I discovered a few weaknesses in the deck and I think I might switch it up to where it's more dragon oriented. I don't know. I have a week to think about it.

Until next time. Happy dueling!
