Based on SOD this Dragon/Pyro hybrid got me 50th place at a tourney of 120 people... not bad for a first try no? Here's the deck: Tribute: Tyrant Dragon Horus The Black Flame Dragon LV 8 Horus LV 6 x2 Non-Tribute: Blazing Inpachi x2 Masked Dragon x3 Solar Flare Dragon x3 UFO Turtle x2 Cyber Jar Twin-Headed Behemoth Element Dragon x2 Horus LV 4 x2 Spell: Molten Destruction x2 Terraforming Stamping Destruction x3 Giant Trunade Heavy Storm Mystical Space Typhoon Pot of Greed Nobleman of Crossout Premature Burial Change of Heart Snatch Steal Level Up! x2 Trap: Waboku x2 Magic Cylinder Call of The Haunted Solemn Judgement Magic Drain Side Deck : Megamorph Fissure x2 Soul Release Dragon's Rage Zero Gravity Demotion Possessed Dark Soul Luster Dragon (1900/1600) Spear Dragon Lord of D. Dark Core Sinister Serpent Round 1 : Cyven VS. beginner I was kinda nervous already since last time I went to a tourney I got my butt handed to me 3 out of 4 rounds so I was hoping for someone I could take on... Luck seemed to be on my side for a small boy walked up to the table and sat down opposite me. Veeery anticlimactic. The kid hardly knew anything about the game so I spent most of my time teaching him basic rules... One nice touch though was getting both LV 6 and LV 8 out on my first turn... I snatched his mon, tributed for LV 6, played level up and after that prematured lv 6... hit for 5300. Cruel? probably. Uncalled for? yeah... but it was fuuuun >D I won this round 2-0 Round 2: Cyven VS Chaos Control WOOSH... my prayers were answered again as I got a tougher opponent this time. This guy had a great deck and even better: no overwhelming ego. This round was the toughest one yet. Duel 1: My hand was ok, I don't remember it exactly, but I felt confident. However my deck could not break through a Spirit Reaper and with an added Mobius the Frost Monarch I lost. I figured it was time to side deck some stuff. I side decked Element Dragon x1, Giant Trunade x1 and Stamping Destruction x1. In exchange I put in Fissure x2 and Megamorph x1. Duel 2: This is the duel I remember best, simply because it was so good ^_^ I got to go first. I open by summoning Masked Dragon. Although I had Solemn Judgement in my hand, I felt that it was not yet time to set it. In his turn, he summons DD Warrior Lady. I could feel trouble arising if he were to remove my Masked Dragon,, but I managed to stay cool. He attacks my Masked Dragon, setting me down to 7900. However, he chooses not to remove, so I get to summon a monster from my deck. Aiming to get him to remove his DDWL, I summon Element Dragon onto the playing field. Without a fire monster to back it up, it is still at 1500/1200. It is my turn again. I draw Solar Flare Dragon and cheer ^_^. I summon it in ATK position, giving Element Dragon the much needed 500 ATK boost. I play Change of Heart, taking control of his DD Warrior Lady and smite him for 5000 (1500 + 1500 + 2000) I set Solemn Judgement and Call of The Haunted. I end my turn, inflicting 500 more LP damage to him. the score is now 7900-2500 My opponent now shows why he chose not to remove DD Warrior Lady and Masked Dragon: He tributes his Warrior Lady for the mighty Jinzo. I can feel victory is at hand, so I activate Solemn Judgement, setting me back to 3950, but it destroys his Jinzo. I must say I enjoyed seeing the shocked look on my opponent's face. However, it turned into a grin and I soon saw why: He plays Premature Burial, lowering him to 1700, to revive his Jinzo. He decides he wants to inflict as much damage as possible and prevent the 500 damage while he's at it, so he attacks my Solar Flare Dragon, lowering Element Dragon down to 1500 again. I lose 900 LP's and the score is now 3050-1700 He sets 1 m/t and ends. I'm getting slightly worried now, I don't want this tournament to end up like it did last time and I knew that victory or loss would depend on my next draw. My heartbeat is racing, only a few cards can save me now. I draw, almost reluctantly look at what I draw and I'm stunned. My opponent gets a surprised look on his face, wondering what I drew. My shocked expression turns into a triumphant smile as I reveal the card to be Stamping Destruction. Thanks to Element Dragon I am able to play it and I choose to destroy his Premature Burial, getting rid of Jinzo and lowering him even more, to 3050-1200. I am slightly worried about his m/t and decide it could be either 1 of 3 traps: Waboku, Magic Cylinder and Torrential Tribute. Anything else would result in me winning the duel. I decide that I will not summon another monster, but have Element Dragon attack head on. Should I encounter a Magic Cylinder, I'd be able to use Call of The Haunted to revive either Masked Dragon or Solar Flare Dragon to finish the game 1550-0. Waboku is the only thing that could ruin my day now... Element Dragon attacks. Those few seconds seemed like years, my heartbeat would not slow down. My opponent reveals his face down card. It turns out to be Creature Swap and I am happy to know that I just tied the score 1-1, winning 3050-0 Duel 3: This duel is also a bit more vague, but I remember him lowering my LP's to 1350 in no time. However, a well timed Fissure kills his Jinzo and I manage to get him down to 2550 with ease after that, with the help of my Solar Flare Dragons. The last 2 turns went as such: the score is 1350-2550 (me-him). Our fields contain Solar Flare Dragon on my side and 1 fd m/t on his side. I am worried that his m/t could be Magic Cylinder so I say I will not attack, because I think you have Magic Cylinder face down. However, he misunderstands it and thinks I attack anyway. Instead of activating his m/t he writes down that he loses 2000 lp. 'waaaaait a minute... he's bluffing!" I correct him and say he only loses 500 LP, because I did not attack. it's now 1350-2050. My opponent checks his m/t and I manage to get a glimpse of green. He had set a Spell card as a bluff! He sets 1 more m/t and ends his turn. I draw a card. Feeling I've had enough of this and I want this duel to be over, I summon Masked Dragon onto the field. Masked Dragon and Solar Flare Dragon both attack, yet he activates no traps. I win the duel and thereby the match! My opponent shows me he has Creature Swap and Bottomless Trap Hole face down and I smile happily. Still shaking, I shake his hand and hand in the slip saying I won. Round 3: Cyven VS Equip Beatdown. It is in this duel that I realise my greatest weakness: beatdown monsters! My monsters cannot cope well with high attack monsters and I make a mental note to include a 3rd Molten Destruction and 2nd Terraformin in my deck, for more power. Duel 1: My opponent opens by summoning Mataza The Zapper and setting 1 m/t. I have a mediocre hand: Stamping Destruction, Element Dragon, UFO Turtle and some cards I could not use yet. I decide I want to get rid of his m/t ASAP, so I summon Element Dragon. Big mistake because now he can activate his trap: Bottomless Trap Hole. I lose my precious Element Dragon and I set Stamping Destruction as a bluff. My opponent now equips an Axe of Despair to his Mataza (uh-oh) and summons Injection Fairy Lily! He attacks head-on and deals exactly 8000 damage, ending the duel 6000-0 Duel 2: I regained my honor in this duel. Though I was outmatched when it came to atk points, I managed to squeeze in some good hits and I aggressively used my Masked Dragons and UFO Turtles to stall until I had 2 Solar Flare Dragons out. In the end I had lowered the score to 3200-300 (me-him) and the field was as such: Bazoo The Soul Eater (with 1 mon removed), Mage Power and Axe of Despair, both equipped to Bazoo on his side, while I had UFO Turtle to work with. I draw Stamping Destruction and I smell the sweet odor of victory. UFO Turtle suicides into Bazoo, setting me back to 1400, but I summon Masked Dragon from my deck. I end my Battle Phase and play Stamping Destruction on his Mage Power, ending the duel 1400-0. Duel 3: Not much to say.. he dominated with Berserk Gorilla and Mataza that had Axe, Mage AND Butterfly Dagger Elma equipped to it. I couldn't stop him for long and lost, 7400-0. Round 4: Cyven VS Burn this is what my deck SHOULD be good against. but meh... I ended up performing horribly against this decktype. The duelist was friendly though so it's all good. Duel 1: my memory is horrible (should have taken more notes >_<) but I do remember that cards like Lava Golem amongst others cost me the duel and I lost, 3300-0 Duel 2: I decided to dive back into my side deck. Out with Waboku x2 and Element Dragon x2, in with Demotion, Hallowed Life Barrier, Sinister Serpent and Possessed Dark Soul (I noticed him using quite a few LV 3 and lower mons) I didn't draw much but I managed to get him down to 700 lp's. However in the end he got out 2 Lava Golems on my side and when I tried to kill G-Bind, he responded with another G-Bind and 2 (!!) Curse of Darknesses, costing me 2000 lp's for just wasting an m/t basically... yowza I had 200 lp left and in his turn he summoned cannon soldier and tributed it for game. Result: I won 2 duels but I lost 2 duels as well, giving me a (still) decent position of 50th out of 120 duelists! props: *winning against the chaos control deck *ending up 50th *getting a TP5 pack *the good attitudes of most duelists I faced slops: *the long waits inbetween rounds *the toilet costing 0.25 ct's to use >_< (I didn't have any more than 20 ct's on me for a phone call X_X; ) *not making the top 8 *not taking the offer for my Armed LV 7 ultimate rare *not being able to get Jinzo >_< *forgetting to add blazing inpachi to the entry form >_< (had to take them out after round 2 when they inspected my deck) *not getting any rare cards in the TP5 pack contact me at mysticbrolly15@hotmail.com or on aim (Cyven16) if you have any comments, questions etc.
