Turtle Hermit Deck Adam Saffin Sports Cards & Chocolate Pleasanton Hi my name is Adam Saffin. I called this deck “Turtle Hermit” because I couldn’t think of anything good and it is based on defense. The main strategy is to set high defense, low-level monsters and cause lots of damage to your opponent, then summon the big guys to slaughter your opponent’s monsters and cause massive LP damage and destroy. An example of a good play in this deck that I have done many times would be: First hand: Mystical Elf, Mystical Elf, Illusionist Faceless Mage, Monster Reborn, Change of Heart. Best if you are going second. Your opponent sets or plays a magic or two, and puts a monster down. Then it’s your turn. You draw lets say a Reinforcements. You set a Mystical Elf. Also put face down the card you drew, if it was Reinforcements. Put down the Monster Reborn and the Change of Heart. End your turn. Your opponent attacks you with the monster. Its attack is <2000, so your opponent take damage. Your opponent also summons another monster that is also <2000. Your turn. You draw the Sword of Deep Seated lets say. Tribute mystical elf for illusionist faceless mage in attack position. Put sword of deep seated on it. Use monster reborn to take back the mystical elf. Use change of heart to take the stronger of your opponents monsters (hopefully they are equal, if not, take the stronger one). Use your opponents monster to attack the remaining one, and one or both of them fill be destroyed. Then, activate reinforcements on illusionist faceless mage to increase the attack to 2200, then direct attack. Your opponent will probably be down to inbetween 4500-5500. Getting combos like this, and in this deck there are many of them, is very win like. But enough of this on to the contents. I have put options for those of you who are limited in cards. Any option taken WILL make the deck function the same way. He had the 5 Exodia cards, but he had no way of getting them all. Just for this game I put 2 Soul Exchange in my deck and caused him to have to use a Right Leg to summon a monster that could stand against me. I had my 3 Mystical Elfs out each attached with an equip so they were 2500 Def, 2500, and 2700. Pretty much undefeatable. He got a Blue Eyes out, luckily I had a Soul Exchange, a Monster Reborn, and 2 extra monster slots. I used Soul Exchange on the blue eyes to summon a Jinzo, and then reborned the Blue Eyes and finished him off. A long fight it was, but I won losing only 2300 LP. Round 2: 8 Players This time I fought a Rex Raptor deck, and I have to admit it was tough to beat. In addition to its toughness, I couldn’t get the right cards. My first hand consisted of a single monster, and I was an Illusionist Faceless Mage, so I couldn’t play it. It was a basic duel as I slowly got out my Mystical Elfs and beefed up their defenses. I didn’t have my Soul Exchanges this time, so it was hard getting out my cards. I eventually resorted to a Dark Hole and got out a Darkfire Soldier. He was exposed so I attacked him and finished him off. He got me down to 1250 LP. Pretty Close! Round 3: 4 Players This is where I slipped. My opponent had a deck like mine: completely random cards; except hers had no specific theme. I got a bad starting hand of 2 monsters, but I quickly came back with Mystical Elfs and toughies. She took a move like I do. She played Dark Hole, then used Monster Reborn on my Jinzo, and then used a Call of the Haunted on my Barrel Dragon, then used this card I forget what it was and special summoned another two monsters, then tributed them for a Red Eyes Black Dragon. Guess what? I was completely defensless! So that’s 2400 + 2400 + 2600. That equals 7400. I was at 6125. That kills me. My deck lost here, and because I didn’t shuffle well. But I have to admit this girl was a strong player. She had very good cards and a good strategy to accompany them. Even though it was almost identical to mine. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. That’s the way it goes. Spoils: I got the consultation prize of a Yamato Dragon foil card, and for making it to the semifinals I got 5 packs. Not bad eh? The packs contained nothing of use to me though. If you have any suggestions email them to me at: mailmanbusdriverbob@yahoo.com --OR— asaffin@hotmail.com Also mail me the cards cuz I got no more than wut in dis deck!!!!!!!!!! Note: If you want to see any of the cards I have mentioned in this report, go to www.anycraze.com . They are absolutely the best for card games and such.
