Yeah, I Know, Another Beatdown, but a Good One number of participants - about 34 Central Missouri Sportscards December 27th, 2003 prizes - 1st: 3 packs 2nd: 2 packs 3rd: 1 pack Entry Fee: $5 (gets you a free pack) Well today was a sort of fun day. There were a lot of little kids there so it made advancing a little easier, but it made it much more boring. Oh well, here is the deck. Monsters: 1x Jinzo 1x Airknight 3x D.D. I have added in a few of my twists (needle and morphing) to give my opponents a little more surprise. Before the tournament started, I traded Cody something for his Torrential, since I had 2 and he had the other one that I needed. This was a pretty cool day, although there were quite a few byes. First Round: Me vs. Ethan Ethan is one of the kids tha I think, next season, will be one of the top contenders along with Cody, Me, Conon, Forrest, Don, and maybe Logan. I knew he was running a Lava Golem deck so I decided to put in my Lily for a Gemini since I know that most decks like that run either/or/both Messenger of Piece and Gravity Bind. In the first duel, it was mine. I kept attacking him with my strong monsters, especially Spear Dragon on his Spirit Reaper until he gave me his Lava Golem. But I torrentialed, so no Golem for him. He stalled at the end with Messenger of Piece and Gravity Bind, while putting Nightmare Wheel on my Gemini, but I Heavy Stormed and got rid of that to end the game. In the second duel, I don't know what happened. I don't remember how I lost, or how many life points I had, but I lost. In the third duel, it was pretty much a repeat of the first game with an early MoP and NW. I got rid of those with Harpie's Feather Duster and that was pretty much it from there. Second Round: Me vs. Dalton I am not kidding, this kid had at least 12 tribute monsters in his deck and about only 4 non tribute monsters. He was a little kid though. He would lay flip effects in face up attack mode and try to use their effects and he also tried to summon things without tribute. In the first duel, I killed him, never being touched. He layed a trap once, but it was Robbin' Goblin, which I MSTed. That was all he laid in that part of the field. I just destroyed his face up, extremely weak monsters. In the second duel, it was much like the first, only he hardly ever layed anything. I took damage just because of Premature Burial and I Yataed him a lot, but he kept drawing anyway. I let him do that since I knew I was going to win. Anyway, I won. The only reason he made it this far, was because he got a bye in the first round. Third Round: Me vs. Logan Logan is one of the kids I think will be a top contender once he gets done with wrestling. He usually plays with Exodia, but for some reason he didn't today. He will play with it next time since he got Necross but I think he said it wasn't going to be an Exodia deck (?). Anyway, on to the duel. In the first duel, he made the mistake of setting 4 traps and playing Swords along with a face down monster (don't remember). I Change oHed his monster and sacrificed it for my Jinzo. He could do nothing, especially since I kept bringing out things like Spear Dragon and Airknight. He ended up losing because he couldn't make any good moves because of his full M/T zone that was full of traps (except for 1 spot). In the second duel, it was almost a repeat of the first one. Early on he set 4 things in his M/T zone, but I didn't get out Jinzo. I Dustered his field along with Raigeki, and set Morphing Jar and the rest of the things in my hand. He attacked it, but I Cylindered. I then flipped Morphing Jar and got some pretty good stuff. I set Needle Worm and awaited. That needle worm got rid of his Raigeki, Change of Heart, Graceful Charity, and 2 monsters. I ended up winning. Fourth Round: Me vs. Conrad This kid is pretty good for his age. He knows a lot of strategy, but this time it didn't help him. In the first duel, I made it quick. I got and easy 1900 on him by Dark Hole then Gemini. He then set some things, but I Feather Dustered after he Reborned and sacrificed for Summoned Skull, which I destroyed with Ring. It went downhill from there. It took only about 3 minutes in that duel. In the second duel, it was a little longer, but with the same result as the last one. I don't quite remember exactly what happened in this one, but I do know that I won (that was the semis). Fifth Round: Me vs. Cody vs. Forrest Since there were so many people there, we had to have 3 brackets and the winners of the brackets would do a round robin thing. This is a really boring round with the same result for everyone: 1 win and 1 loss. We all decided to just draw for the points and split the prizes. I ended up drawing 2, Forrest 3, and Cody 1 so he got the points for the tournament. I didn't get anything good in the packs I won or got in the beginning. I made some pretty good trades. I traded something for the TT from Cody, got my 4th TT from a kid for my extra Airknight, got another Spear Dragon and Skilled Dark Magician from a kid for my Helpoemer and tin Buster Blader and that's it. Props: - Coming in first (although with 2 other people) - getting some good trades - Mountain Dew (even though Pepsi Vanilla is better: they only have a machine there that has Mountain Dew, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi, Root Beer, and something else in the Pepsi machine) - Cary for giving us tournament cards depending on the place we have in the store - Nice day - There was this pretty hot lady that came for her son (probably about 6, but he was very young) Slops: - Coming in first (although with 2 other people) - Forrest for getting the tournament 4 Morphing Jar because he is second in the store because me and conon had soccer for the first 2 months (but mine is better) - little kids - Don and Conon not being there to provide much competition. If you have any questions, comments, complaints, or just want me to look at your deck and tell you what you should do to it, my email address is soccerduck89@hotmail.com.
