Valhalla's Game Center Wheatridge, CO Jan 25, 2003 63 participants "Cooooool" deck Andrew Salazar Hello everyone! It's been a while since I posted a deck on Pojo, so I figured it wouldn't be a bad time, and I'd better type it before i forgot. This tournament is held every Sunday, and is one of the most difficult places to play in Colorado. I've been trying to work my way up the store rankings, and today would be a better day to try than most. My deck is a kind of control deck, but I also keep a small beatdown element. I find that cards like drop off and time seal are worthless, because they force you to trade a random card from you deck (the card you would've drawn instead of drop off/time seal) for a random card from theirs(the card destroyed). Personally, I feel that Don Zaloog can handle most of the disruption, and those cards are just dead weight. Monsters(16): 2x Don Zaloog 2x D.D. Warrior Lady 1x Jinzo 1x Vampire Lord 1x Sangan 1x Witch of the Black Forest 1x Gemini Elf 1x Archfiend Soldier 1x Breaker the Magic Warrior 1x Sinister Serpent 1x Tribe Infecting Virus 1x Yata Garasu 1x Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu Magic(17): 1x Raigeki 1x Dark Hole 1x Change of Heart 1x Monster Reborn 1x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Snatch Steal 1x Premature Burial 1x Pot of Greed 1x Graceful Charity 1x Harpies Feather Duster 1x Mirage of Nightmare 3x MST 1x Painful choice 1x United We Stand 1x Delinquent Duo 1x Forceful Sentry Traps(7): 1x Wobaku 1x Mirror Force 1x I. Order 1x Call of the Haunted 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Ring of Destruction 1x Royal Decree Now, I know what most of you are thinking. First off, most of you were surprised that I run Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu with only United We Stand in my deck. But, you are missing something. Both Premature Burial AND Snatch Steal are also equip magics, making Kotetsu's effect quite versatile. Everyone is probably wondering about the Royal Decree too, but I find it incredibly useful after I've used all my MST's on my Mirage of Nightmare. Anyways, as you can see, it's not a total control or hand disruption, but it utilizes some of the strong points of that type of deck. Anyways, on to the tournament! Round 1: BYE! Oh yeah, who's the man! Waiting around for the next round was kind boring though. Round 2: Andrew(me) v. Scrub Match 1: This match was cake. Don Zaloog, Jinzo, D. Duo, and Snatch Steal hit the hand early, and a badly placed destruction of Witch by my opponent put Yata right in my hand for the win! He did a little lp damage with some Kycoo's, but his monster's just weren't strong enough. 7000-3100(YL) Match 2: Another easy one. This match, he attacked my face down DD lady with Nin Ken Dog, and he discarded a dancing fairy with graceful charity. I could NOT draw any monsters, so I was forced to reborn his fairy and attack him with that. I just had to keep raigeki-ing and traping him to keep his field clear until Don Zaloog came out, which hit his hand hard. 6200-0 Round 3: Andrew(me) vs. Mike Match 1: This guy was fairly new, but was surprisingly difficult. The first match, Mirage of Nightmare hit my hand, and I drew a MST along with it. I set all my m/t's on the field and emptied my hand, set a sinister serpent, and activated Mirage of Nightmare. He summoned breaker, and broke the MST, so I chained the MST to destroy my mirage. He attacked my sinster, and next turn I drew Jinzo, and had COH facedown on the field. I brought Jinzo out, but it didn't last. He hit me with spear dragon and goblin attack force, but I countered with raigeki and a well placed Don Zaloog! 3800-0 Match 2: I got owned. First turn, he raigeki's my face down Don Zaloog and attacks for 1900. The next turn I try to suicide a 1900, and it get's ring of d'ed. He monster reborns my 1900 and graceful charity discard/prematured a jinzo. No muss, no fuss. 6100-0 Match 3: This one came down to the wire. We went back and forth for a while, until we got down to 1700(me)-2300(him). I flipped a fiber jar on my turn, and landed Gemini Elf and United we Stand in my hand! What luck! Round 4: Andrew vs. Some guy Match 1: This guy was a cake walk. He set 2 traps on his turn, and one turned to be dust tornado, which he used on my f/d mystical, and I couldn't activate it because i set it that turn. I summoned breaker and broke a f/d mirror force, and attacked directly for 1600. He countered with dark hole and monster reborn. I used delinquent duo and raigeki, and summoned don zaloog. I emptyed his hand and left him with no options. 5400-0 Match 2: I dont know how, but somehow we both ended up with no hand, no field, and no monsters while both sitting at 5000. I managed to pull witch of the black forest, and took him down to around 1700 with her. Delinquent Duo and Forceful sentry kept his hand in control, and I managed to draw Vampire lord to attack for the win. ?-0 Round 5: Andrew vs. Luke I was definitly afraid this round. Only me, my friend Henry(running dark flare knight/magical scientist), another old guy, and Luke, the #1 player in the store, were left. Luke had beaten me a few times before, so I was definitly scurred! Match 1: This match was good. I managed to get both don zaloog's on the field to decimate his hand, and he set a f/d sangan. I used swords to flip i face up, and summoned DD lady. I attacked with my 1st Don, knowing my other don could take whatever he picked, and he picked stupid sinister serpent! I was very angry, but later, he was so desperate he had to bring out V. Lord while my lady was on the field and he destroyed a zaloog. Next turn, I drew my v lord and used call of the haunted to tribute a monster for it, and I rammed the lady into V lord. Next turn, he set one monster, and I was not sure what to attack with. He was at 1900, so don couldn't kill him, but V. Lord could. I decided to not get greedy, and attacked with V lord to destroy the monster. the monster was...Sinister serpent!!!! I forgot about that stupid thing!! It didn't matter too much though, because next turn I drew ring of destruction. 6800-0 Match 2: I dont know how, but he managed to keep me on the rops the entire match. Imperial order screwed me, and he cut me down quickly. 0-4400 Match 3: This match was verrrrrry difficult. He kept getting through all my defenses, and I couldn't find an offense until I managed to draw fiber jar. With Fiber Jar, I managed to get a decent hand, and I used my Archfiend Soldier and Jinzo to wipe him out and make it to the finals!!! 2000-0 Round 6-Finals: Me vs some guy My friend henry lost, so it was me against some old guy. This guy was good, I'd seen him get far before. He was running a zombie-control deck, and it was pretty good. Match 1: This was a long one. I was hesitant to destroy his Tomato and Pyramid Turtle, but eventually I managed to COH and tribute the tomato for jinzo, and attacked his turtle, which he got spirit reaper with. I set a blacksmith and took United we stand from it, and equipped it to spirit reaper to kill him and hit his lp. Next turn, he raigekied, and hit me for Don zaloog direct. I managed to draw Fiber Jar, and set it, and pulled Mirage of Nightmare. I played Mirage and set everything, and pulled raigeki and Royal Decree. That was basically the end. 2300-0 Match 2: This one came down to the wire. Both of us were at low lp, me at 1650, and him at 600. He got Vampire Lord out, and I mirror forced it, saving my life for one turn. All I had was sinister serpent and Harpies Duster in my hand, so I needed to end the match that turn, otherwise V. Lord would rape me. I pulled...Sangan! Go sangan, attack! Game! I win!!! So FINALLY, I win a tournament at Valhallas!
