Deck Name: Checkmate Name: Kakashi Hatake Tourney Location: Generations Gaming & Stamps Area: Pembroke Pines, Florida ( Or Ft. Lauderdale, FL, in large scale =/ ) Tourney Type: Single Elimination Entry Fee: $4.00 Prizes: 1st: 6 Packs 2nd: 4 Packs 3rd: 2 Packs Hello everyone. This is my first Tourney Report to Pojo. I always wanted to submit one but was too lazy to do so.. So, I actually felt like being the opposite of lazy and typing this little tournament experience up. I ran an Archfiend deck at this tournament to see if it was tournament material. Checkmate Monsters ( 21 ) Tribute Skull Archfiend of Lightning ( You want to use ANYTHING that can target this monster? I roll a die. 1, 3, or 6. That card is BURNED. ) Dark Necrofear ( Special summon! Mmm.. Tasty. ) Non-Tribute Archfiend Soldier x3 ( 1900 ATK, 1500 DEF. No drawbacks. Archfiend. Only a Rare. Best 1900 attacker yet. ) Spirit Reaper x3 ( These little guys save my life until I draw my Raigeki. And then you discard, fool. ) Terrorking Archfiend x3 ( Hm, the Four-Star version of Dark Ruler Ha Des that is searchable and combo's with Desrook ) Infernalqueen Arch x3 ( BROKEN card, until Upper Deck fixes their mistake. Increase Arch's by 1000 every standby phase.) Desrook Archfiend x2 ( Discard to get King out. Combo's with Pandemonium as well. Underestimate it, I dare you. ) Giant Orc x2 ( 100 points less than Goblin, Fiend, and common. ) Sinister Serpant ( Killer Snake, anti-Yata lock. ) Witch -- Black Forest ( Search, search, search. ) Tribe-Infecting Virus ( Little racist monster. ) Magic/Spell ( 18 ) MST x2 ( Magic/Trap removal. Doesn't get much better than that. ) Pandemonium x2 ( Needed to stop payments of my Archfiends. ) Falling Down x2 ( An unlimited Snatch Steal that burns me instead of replenishes your lifepoints? Staple in my Arch deck) Premature Burial ( I like to revive. ) Painful Choice ( Get those Archfiends into the graveyard and one into my hand for Necrofear bait. ) Snatch Steal ( I just stole your card. How do you feel? Well, to make it worse, I tribute it for Skull. ) Change of Heart ( Staple. ) Monster Reborn ( Staple. ) Pot of Greed ( Staple. ) Graceful Charity ( Steal from the rich, give to the poor [ me ] ) Harpies Feather Duster ( Mai Valentine, you're so sexy. ) Dark Hole ( Staple. ) Heavy Storm ( Hurricane destroys your traps. My army attacks you. You die. ) SORL ( Stall for three turns while my queen pumps my army up. Staple. ) Raigeki ( Staple. ) Traps ( 5 ) Imperial Order ( How does a King stop a Thunder-Bolt? Ask Kazuki Takahshi. ) Call of the Haunted ( Cry of the Living Dead! ) Ring of Destruction ( You can take that Magic Cylinders and light it on fire. ) Mirror Force ( Not as good as it used to be. But considered on of the best Traps ever. I agree. ) Torrential Tribute ( You summon Yata, or you summon anything else! I swear this wave will take you down! ) ------------------------ Yeah, so, that's my deck. If you don't like it, then that's your opinion. But before you jump to conclusions, let us look at how I did in the tourney, shall we? I arrived a bit late with my friend Andrew, who runs a very good Fairy deck ( sounds really bad on his part ). [ Fairies as in Airknights, Mudora's, Cestus of Dagla, Kelbek, etc.. The new age kind of Fairy deck. ] We wanted to get there earlier to make some nice trades ( which I did later, but we'll save that for the usually anticipated "Props and Slops". ) but instead I had to sign up immediately. However, before the tournament started, I traded a Vampire Lord for a Ring of Destruction, Don Zaloog, and Archfiend soldier. The soldier and Ring were quickly slipped into my deck, and in a positive way I was ready for the tournament. Round 1: Kakashi [ that's my nickname ] ( Archfiend Deck ) vs. Alex ( Earth-Fiend-Messed-Up-Deck ) I don't know this kid's name, but I always seem to get matched up with him. Every time he sees me before the tourney he goes "Man, I hope I don't face you bro." and starts laughing. I think it's kind of funny how he has a hard time facing against me, I'm not exactly one of the better duelists. I am a little more feared than most though. However, nobody had known that I switched from Beatdown ( I hate beatdown, it got so boring.. ) to an Archfiend deck. Anyways, onto the match! ( I only remember the first one distinctly, for it was such a good match. ) Round 1, Duel 1: As always, we start off by cutting our decks. I don't remember what I got, but he got magic and I got a monster and I went first. I drew five cards, and made sure I remembered this awesome hand perfectly. My hand contained Pot of Greed, Mirror Force, Imperial Order, Terrorking Archfiend, and Pandemonium. ( I know you all know about the combo of setting Terrorking and activated Pandemonium. I go through my deck, get Rook into my hand, and discard in a chain to get Terrorking on the field if my opponent destroys it face-down. Very annoying, as I am told. And the judge had no problems with it. ) I went first, and drew an MST. I played Pot of Greed, drew Raigeki and Infernalqueen. I set Imperial, Mirror Force, and played Pandemonium. When I played that, Alex laughed and asked me "what I was smoking". I just shrugged and put Terrorking in face-down defense mode. He drew, summoned Bazoo ( which I laughed about ), set a Magic/Trap and attacked my face-down Terrorking. I didn't activate Mirror Force. I went through my deck, got Desrook, discarded and got King on the field. This was debated for about 30 seconds before the judge slapped Alex with his "Duelist-Correcting-Hand" and told him what I did was legal. Then on my turn, I drew Tribe. Summoned the evil Virus and discarded the queen to destroy his Bazoo. Played MST, and attacked for 2000 and 1600. His turn, he top-decked Dark Hole which I Imperial-Ordered, then chained MST and my King and Tribe were destroyed. Pandemonium, baby-- and I got Rook out of deck, discarded for King, and laughed at Alex. He summoned Goblin Attack Force, then attacked, which I Mirror-Forced. Then he Monster Reborned Goblin and ended his turn with one magic/trap down. I drew Torrential Tribute ( I was hoping for Magic/Trap removal ) and set it. I played Raigeki which he Imperial Ordered. I switched King to defense mode, and ended my turn. He drew, set one magic/trap, and summoned Injection Fairy Lily. Which I Torrential Tributed. He ended his turn, and I drew Monster Reborn. I ended my turn because of his stupid Imperial Order. He drew and refused to pay. He played Premature Burial and got his Lily back. He attacked with the annoying phrase "Pump her up". Then he activated Barrel Behind the Door and said he didn't take 2000, but I took 5400. I debated this with the judge and he said that you can use Barrel during the damage step of a monster's attack, which I thought was complete bull crap. But oh well, I took a huge hit of 5400. My turn, I drew MST. Played MST, reborned his little Fairy. And then attacked him. He drew, groaned, and ended his turn. I drew my Necrofear. Removed two Rooks, and my Queen. Special summoned Necrofear, and attacked for the game. Me: 8000>2600>600 Him: 8000>6000>4400>3600>3400>400>0 Round 1, Duel 2: I don't quite remember this one well, except that the only monster he drew was Lily which I Raigeki'd and Reborned, and got an army of two Queens ( three-woman army, baby! ) on the field. He was obliterated within three of my turns. Me: 8000>7300 Him: 8000>7100>3700>1800>0 Record: 2-0 That Round was done within 15 minutes, so I went over to Andrew and found out he lost horribly to a Hand-Control deck. Turns out Andrew's luck didn't come in that handy today, so I figured I'd set a vengeance declaration on this VERY over-weight kid with glasses. I always lost to him, because of the evil Hand-Control deck he played. He had a Morphing Jar and a Needle Worm in his deck, so I knew that my declaration vengeance was nothing to him. Round 2: Kakashi ( Archfiend ) vs. Mike ( Fiend deck ) Everyone that was not in the tournament ( about four-five people, two of which didn't enter because me and Andrew entered ) came to watch this duel. Archfiend vs. Fiend, everyone was wondering who was better. And this match definately proved which type of Fiend was better. Round 2, Duel 1: This kid was scared to duel me after he saw what I did to Alex. Aww, it's okay. You can't try to steal my Gemini Elf one month ago, expect me to forget, and not expect to get completely humiliated in a duel. We rolled my dice, and I won the roll, so I went first. I had a hand with Harpies, King, Rook, Imperial, and Torrential. I drew Graceful Charity which gave me Pandemonium ( I discarded the Queen and MST ). I played Pandemonium, set King, and set Torrential, and set Imperial. ( That's alot of setting. ) I smirked and ended my turn. He played Duster. I laughed and flipped Imperial, and then held my hand out and said "The king says no magic, you idiot". He summoned Giant Orc and hit my face-down king. I discarded Rook and that big pimp came right back to the field. He almost pulled his hair out, and I drew another King. I didn't pay for Imperial, and summoned the second Terrorking. I hit his Orc, and hit his lifepoints for 2000. He set a monster in face-down defense mode, and one magic trap. He looked confident, until I drew a my Spirit Reaper, played Harpies Duster, summoned Spirit Reaper, and attacked his face-down with one King. It was Witch, and as soon as he touched his deck with his ugly little hand, I slapped him with two fingers and pointed at King. "No effect, fool." I attacked with Reaper and he discarded Kuriboh. I attacked with King and he took 2000. He drew, and summoned Necrofear. I torrential tributed it, and went through my deck and got another Rook which I discarded for King. He targeted my King with Necrofear.I rolled the dice and got a 5, which negated his crappy Necrofear. I drew and got my Archfiend of Lightning. I tributed my Spirit Reaper for it. I attacked him for 2500, 2000, and 2000. He lost. Badly. Me: 8000 Him: 8000>6000>4000>1500>0 Round 2, Duel 2: This duel was so fast, I can't even tell you how great it was to be me. I got remember playing Painful to get rid of Skull and a few other archfiends, and having Necrofear in my hand and some magic/trap and monster removal cards. I drew a King, played Heavy Storm, played Dark Hole. Then I reborned my Skull of Lightning, played King, removed three fiends for Necrofear. I attacked him for 2200, 2500, and 2000. Unfortunately I didn't have Pandemonium on the field, next standby that meant I had to pay. He drew, set one magic/trap, played Dark Core, and discarded a Giant Orc on Necrofear ( What a STUPID card.) and ended. I drew, and had to pay 1300 for my two Archfiends. That's okay. He was depending on one magic/trap. It didn't matter to me. I attacked with King, he flipped Call of the Haunted and got a Giant Orc out. I ran into it with my King and discarded my Rook that was in my hand. I killed his Orc with Skull Archfiend. Then he frowned and knew that my King was going to take his giant sword and chop off his head. I won again. Me: 8000>7500>6700 Him: 8000>5500>3500>1300>800>0 Record: 4-0 After this I went to the nearby Shell gas-station with Andrew and bought some snacks ( our lunch ) and two big cokes. We went back and got some REALLY good trades ( I'll tell you all later what they were ) while I waited for the next round to start. When I found out who I was playing next, I got real pissed off and sat down with an attitude. It was the really fat kid, Matt, who had beaten Andrew that I was going up against. I noticed my old friend from Rookies cards was there, so I said hey to him and for him to watch me beat the guy that had beaten him last round as well. Of course, I was full of myself, and I knew I would have a hard time beating this kid. Round 3: Kakashi ( Archfiend ) vs. Matt [ Harry Potter + polymerization + Majin Buu ] ( Control ) Round 3, Duel 1: He let me go first, which I gladly took seeing the hand I got was Pot, Graceful, Duster, and two Soldiers. I drew an MST, and played Pot. I drew King and Queen ( how cool. ). I played Graceful, and saw Matt's face shrivel up in pain. I drew a Rook, Spirit Reaper, and Sinister [ w00t! ]. I discarded Sinister and Queen. I set King and MST. His turn. He played Heavy Storm and got rid of my MST. He played Nobleman of Cross-out and got rid of my King ( How situational, he screwed up my plan. My rook was useless now.. Until I drew another King ). He summoned Spirit Reaper, set two magic/traps, and attacked me for 300. He discarded my Spirit Reaper ( nice going, Majin Buu.. ). And ended. I drew, and he used Drop Off to get rid of my Soldier that I drew. Sinister got back into my hand.. That's okay. I play Duster, which he Imperial Ordered. I wanted to slap this kid so hard, he got the best hand I could have ever seen him play. I summoned Soldier, and hit his Spirit Reaper. He took 1600. At least he didn't get a Flawless Victory on me. He drew, and played Confiscation to get rid of my Rook ( haha, what a waste of lifepoints. ). He played Raigeki , and tributed his Spirit Reaper for Vampire Lord. He played Monster Reborn and got one of my Soldiers. He hit me, hard. And called "Trap". I got rid of my Imperial Order, and he set a magic trap. I shuffled, and then was about to draw but he activated Drop Off. He destroyed my Raigeki, which I cussed at. I set Sinister and ended. He drew, summoned Yata. I forfeit. Me: 8000>7700>5700>3800>1800>Yata-Lock ( Well, Sinister wouldn't save me from a Vampire Lord. ) Him: 8000>6400>5400 Round 3, Duel 2: I was hoping that this would go a little better than the last duel, but it didn't. I set a King and a Mirror Force. He played MST, Nobleman ( AGAIN!!!! ) and played Delinquent Duo. Then he played Forceful Sentry. Then he summoned that evil, stupid, Bird. Yata-locked again. Within two turns too. I was humiliated.. Me: 8000>7800> YATA-LOCK. Him: 8000>7000 Record: 4-2 Well, the outcome of the tournament was allright. After the first tourney me and Andrew entered the tag-team tournament, which was all-around a piece of cake. We came in second place, and we both got one pack each and a Super Rare from the case. I got Drop Off and pulled an Archfiend Soldier in my Dark Crisis pack. Yay! Both went into my binder, along with all of the great trades I made today. I got a Gemini Elf and Imperial Order for my Injection Fairy Lily. I traded a holographic MST for Guardian Sphinx and Painful Choice. I traded the Drop Off I got for a Snatch Steal. I traded the Don I got from trading Vampire Lord for, for a 1st Edition Gemini Elf and Swords of Revealing Light. How awesome are those trades? VERY AWESOME.
