I am back with another report from Brookhaven, MS. Last Saturday, like every Saturday at 1pm, at the Computer Place Mr. Freels held the weekly Yu-Gi-Oh Brookhaven Tournament. How did that go ya ask? For some, NOT TOO GOOD! But everyone had fun. The tourney is restricted to 18 years and younger to keep the competition even and to give everyone a chance to win. Even with the restriction some very heavy hitters made their appearances: Exodia, Dark Ruler Ha Des, Tribe Infecting Virus, Jinzo, etc.... When the dust settled and the last 6 were counted, these six still stood (forgive me but I got no last names, oops, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE SO SHOOT ME!) Andy v. Josh, Kyle v. Jordan, Brandon v. Taive. These 3 duels seemed to last forever, we finished an hour late so I guess in a since, they did. In the end the victors were Andy, Kyle, and Brandon. First to decide the finals, Andy and Kyle squared off. Kyle pulled so many tricks out of his....hat that I began to think he was a magician. In the end his fiends pulled out the victory and secured his spot in the finals. But who he was up against was no slouch either. Brandon's deck contained many, many tricks of its own, including the all powerful, all knowing, all agrivating (hmm, Exodia and Brandon have something in common) Exodia. Here is a basic rundown of the duels (they had to play 2 because neither had lost in a double elim. tourney): Duel 1: Kyle had Cyber jar and Helpoemer doin most of the work, while Brandon fended him off with Tribe Infecting Virus and a Blue Eyes White Dragon. Eventually, though, Kyle pulled into his....hat and pulled out a Jowls and Skull Lair. He removed 8 cards from his grave yard to kill Brandon's BEWD and summoned Bazoo the Soul Eater with his Haelpoemer. A few attacks later Brandon went down. DUEL 1: Kyle Duel 2: Brandon started out looking good, had a Jinzo on the field to stop Skull Lair, but Kyle was beaten last tourney by a very cheap trick, and he would repeat that again. He played change of heart to take Jinzo and tribute him for Helpoemer + an Axe of Despair then played Skull Lair. As he attacked with Helpoemer Brandon played Mirror Force saving his life, but not for long. Kyle played Call of the Haunted bringing back Opticlops, by this time Brandon was down to 1300 or so LP. Brandon played Scape Goats but Skull Lair made short work of them and the Opticlops did the rest. DUEL 2: Kyle So Kyle walked off with a victory at the Brookhaven Computer Place Weekly 18 and Under Tourney. His prize was a Rope of Life and Horn of Heaven. Brandon placed 2nd (again) and recieved $5 for his trouble (again). Whats that old saying, "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride?" Well, maybe next week. Brandon has acquired Exodia Necross and Painfull Choice. All he needs is the contract (which I am sure he will have later) In any case, cya next week. Jason jreeves@dailyleader.com
