It's only $1 to get in and it gives out crap for prizes, but the crap's worth $1 most of the time. I'm running my Beast with pre-negators this time (18 creatures instead of 20, no Nobleman) because it gives it an edge against Chaos and random beatdowns and all that. First Round vs. Cheaty When he was looking through his library he said he was making sure he had 40 cards (he just made his deck via a friend) and said "I'm not cheating... yet." Yeah that constituted an actual shuffle instead of just cutting his deck in half, to say the least. -First Match It was a random deck running beatdown creatures, generic control stuff like Tribe, and the card I love for my opponents to play with, Morphing Jar (super version for anyone curious). I kept him at bay with Berserks and finished him off when I had 1 Berserk on the field, a Nimble face down, and I played Enraged. He had Spirit Reaper in defense as I recall. -Second Match General pwning on my part by pre-negators (he didn't get any off this game) until he Morphing Jarred with 1 in hand where as I had 2. Drew an awesome hand (as always when my opponents use it) while he set a monster and 2 m/t's. My turn I Heavy Stormed, Delinquented his hand, and went for the win. -Record: 2-0 Between Rounds My friend's Burn deck lost to Mataza (he runs a stall/burn) so I was the only one left. Also, Josh lost again! W00t! My brother was on a date Mom paid for (and got $5 out if it because he said he payed for his gf even though she's an actual person and paid for herself). Second Round vs. Cool kid He beat Josh's Hand Control deck, probably because his deck's pretty solid against off-shoot tactics like that made to shoot down Chaos. He was running common versions of more powerful stuff (Orc vs. GAF, that sort of thing) but still his deck was solid. -First Match Wabokus galore combined with straight Berkserks and Bazoos that hit either him or his lesser monsters. Didn't hit me the entire time. -Second Match Fibered after I used both Wabokus, drew them again. He got me in the 5600 area but I Ringed for the win after I pummeled him. -Record: 4-0 Between Rounds Wow I was doing better than usual (I rarely win 2-0 games)! I'm keeping the pre-negators for sure. I believe this is when I traded a BLS-EOTB (practically free) and a Magic Drain for Imperial and Harpies for my Zombie deck. I'm not sure when all the trades this day went down, but I'll get to those later. I'm in the semis with Damien (one of the best in the area) already in the Finals seat (not that it mattered, he runs a crappy Chaos for some reason). Third Round vs. Ryan 50-ish dad of 3 that play, 1 that was here (for those who've read my reports, it was No Fun Girl). He runs generic beatdown with equips (had Axe but I haven't seen it), 3 Slates, 3 Berserks, I'm guessing 2 Spears (he didn't draw them as if he had 3), Tribe, Sinister, 3 Nimbles, 3 Mad Dogs, and around 6 traps with non-prenegation magics. No tributes other than Jinzo (though he got an End of Anubis later, which he's putting in for sure). -First Match Got both Wabokus and just pre-negated alot and Berserked/Bazooed him down. He didn't do that much. -Second Match I believe I drew 1 Waboku. Anyway it was close but he won this one thanks to him getting rid of my searched-for Nimbles and me not drawing enough monsters to make up for the loss in field advantage. -Third Match He admitted that I might win after someone said he would, which he usually wouldn't do (even though I've beaten him the past 2 times I've faced him). Anyway we topdecked while both just over 4000 and he ended up shooting through a Nimble with a 1600 UWS, dealing the 3400 that I had left before Nimble hit the graveyard (he had 2 other monsters anyway). -Record: 5-2 After the tourney Traded for another Imperial for Gravekeepers, Heavy Storm for Zombie, 2nd Kycoo, DDWL, and 3 or so Magician of Faiths (I thought I had like 4 but I only had 2 commons and they were lended out), losing my Slates in the process. Still 2 Reapers, a Delinquent, a Mirror Force, and a Book of Life short of a completely 2nd Zombie deck. What sucks was the guy who got BLS from me got Yata and a Drop Off for it >.< I was saving it to trade for Yata! WHY?! Props: -People who use Morphing Jar against me, because I haven't lost in a match where it was flipped yet. $60 to help out both players? Um, no! -Josh losing -Getting all staples for a 2nd deck and Imperial and Heavy Storm for a 3rd. -Getting stuff that my bro traded heavily for (DDWL and Kycoo). -Getting 3rd in the tourney, even though it ends my 2 streak. -Beating Ryan like no tomorrow first match. -Damien for convincing me not to sell my extra Harpies -Eric for driving, because he'll *for lack of a nice word imagine an appropriate term here* at me if I don't put him in here somewhere. -Chaos for only being 1 person's deck in this tourney (plus only 4 people thus far run it around here, out of around 15 to 20 good duelists that I've encountered) -Being 'employed' Slops: -Not getting 2nd, thus getting an IOC pack (First was just an Injection, which doesn't even trade that well around here). -No Logan or April (Ryan's other kids) to face -Losing to my opponent's lucky draw of a UWS versus skill -Not getting my Yata yet >.< -Not getting my store credit yet nor getting officially hired at my job As always, email me with decklists you want me to look at and any comments!
