The week before that, I ran a burner. Burn is good. Burn is good. Burn is good. Snake bites hurt, if you've ever felt them. This deck, coming in the morning, was pretty snake-themed. I had Cobra Jars, Sinister Snake... Electric Snakes for anti Hand D. (No, I did not steal that from the World Champion. I stole it from a friend of mine, who probably stole it from the World Champion. ;P) Actually, he was running Minars, which are probably the same, except that the opponents lose 1000 instead of drawing 2 cards. But the theme was snake-age, so snake it was. As was mentioned before, this deck is weak to Jinzo. Jinzo is evil. Yes he is. But not broken. No he's not. Almost, but not quite. *notes that he should put in Book of the Moon when he gets it* $6 to enter We got PGD or TP3 packs for entering Prize is... [???] ...ehem, that or 3 packs. Round 1: Voltaire(Rhaphsode) vs. Charles(???) Rhaphsode, my new alias. Yes, it looks like Rhapsody, or something like that, but it's not. It's the result of a bizzare, out-of-this-world experience brought on by boredom and a word asosciation game. On to the duel, Charles is my first opponent. I've seen him around, but I'm not sure of his skill level. Hmmm... well, I play him full-force. We start off pretty slow. He starts with F-I-N-A-L and I start with a Fiber facedown. Protected, of course. He sets. I set Princess he sets a monster and plays the N. I flip Princess. BAM! Instant 1500 damage. Flip Fiber. WTF? No attackers? DSS. We go for a few turns with it. He surprises me a few turns later with his own DSS. I check my lps. If I don't do something quick, he's taking me down with him. Giant Trunade. Play 2 DSSs. He plays his own. Soon, he's gone, and I'm down to 300. Phew. I start off with DSS and Swords. He can't do anything. We do this for a few turns and I have a slight advantage on him with a Nightmare Wheel. This goes on for a few more turns. I eventually have 5000 lps and he has 2000. The next DSS is for 3200. He ends. Game. Round 2: Voltaire(Rhaphsode) vs. Steffon(Avalanche's Jenova) Battle of the faces!!! That is the announcement, ;P. Basically, the back of his sleeves are covered with the face of Jenova, and I have Natalie Portman's visage on mine. No, she is not my girlfriend. No, I am not obsessed. But yes, I AM a fan. Meh. Not for frikkin' Star Wars, but for 'classic's like Beautiful Girls and Léon (aka The Professional). ...ehem, well. Onto the duel. He offers me stuff to forfeit, says he needs the points... well, points don't really count right now, if I'm not mistaken. Well, that's WEAKSAUCE. We play anyway. INTENSE duel. I take a 1400 hit early on. Then a 1000 damage hit. My burn monsters do little damage. I play DSS with Torture Room of Nightmares, but it's Stormed away. THWAP. Big hit and I'm left at 100. Draw... hope... nothing. Game. I start out with DSS and Mag-Reflector. We both go down to 6600 in a few short turns. And down to 5000. Germ... suicide to WMH. 2 Germ hit. Next turn, it's clinched by DSS. I sidedecked in 2 Elec-Snakes and several other stuff earlier. Hmmm... they didn't come into play in the last match, but they did here. It starts out and I've taken a 900 damage hit. I use germ. And more. And more. He has 3 monsters on me. Geki. I'm still on the defensive. I manage to tie the game by using my burn tactics and by cleverly paying for IO. I take him down to 2100. I have 2 cards in my hand and I stop paying for IO, anticipating a brilliant move on my part. He Del'Duo's me. He makes me discard Sinister. I discard Elec- Snake. I draw 2. YUS!. He's down to 1100. I draw. Hmm... Pot. Okay... can't. JD's. He's at 600. FLIP FIBER JAR. I play Elec-Snake in attack mode and end it. Round 4 of Steffon vs. Voltaire goes to me. That's 2-2 in tournament. ;) Round 3: Voltaire(Rhaphsode) vs. Edwin(Chief Wiggum) Oh well... I guess my deck CAN win after all. Okay then. Whatever. Well... snappy intro, huh... well, Ed's a fellow GameFAQs user. He's uhh... cool. Vash really does 0wnz. I don't want to reveal his secret identity, so uhhh... yeah... I start out quick, but fall victim to an early Goblin hit. I Spear it, but he Spears right back. In just a few turns, I'm toast. Really quick, huh? It's 'cause I fell victim to his hurrying up and I don't make a conscious effort to control the pace of the match. Calm down, calm down, don't fall into his pace... relax. The relaxing pays off as I am able to grind his offense to a halt. (Note to self: Put magic counters into deck) I burn him a bit with Germs, and other little things like that. I take him down... down... he has a Kycoo out and something else... one facedown... my turn... I look at the lp counter... 1900. My head is spinning wildly. I look at my facedown. Princess. Flip JDs. 400. He has a premature out. Flip Princess. Game. Hoo. Whew. I pull out a new page of paper for this one. Score is written all over the other pages. In a bit of bad luck, he counters most of my moves. I'm dragged to keep up his pace. Too much hitting. I get him down to a respectable low of 2500, but a final Change of Heart combined with a hit from one of his monsters takes me down and out. ;_; Tourney Highlights: -Almost done with my deck. About 70% ownage. Knowing myself, though, it'll never be done. Wonder what deck'll appear next week... hmmm... hmmm... -K-Force One came this week. Springfield's finest was here. Avalanche was here. Whoo. Lots of competition. Curtis, Jake... all you guys, wassup? Curtis's Speed Burn is elite ownage. Too bad you didn't know you could sac Tokens for Lava Golem... you would've won... -Terrance made it to the finals. Whoa, he took down Ricky again. He's really coming up, man... -Donald... hmmm... I guess your deck IS still ownage, huh? Got your revenge in the finals? Meh. Cons: -I messed up my deck Post-Tourney. Traded off a N-Wheel... and plus I lost my BBtD. Meh. -Voltaire Abaya(Rhaphsode) -Thunderv11@yahoo.com -Note: Watch out next week. What kind of inspiration will this week bring?
