This is an Upper Deck Sanctioned tournament that has all the normal rules. Best 2 out of 3 and have to follow the current restriction list. Now this store always has a good turnout with about 30-35 people for this tournament. Only 15 were little kids with horrible decks. Round 1 I got a bye this round so I had to wait to see who I would face next round. Round 2 Me vs. James (a crappy deck) Game 1 Me: 8000-7900-6350-3450-800 James: 8000-6100-3200-850-425-0 Winner: Me Nothing thrilling happened until I summoned my Dark Ruler. He chained Solemn Judgment. I then chained Ring of Destruction to the SJ to blow up my Hades. He then chained Seven tools. In response I chained a Solemn Judgment. So yeah we both took alot of life. Leaving me with 800 life points and James with 425. I played swords and ended my turn. He put a monster in face down defense. Then I played Dark hole, summoned a Mystic Tomato and finished him off. Game 2 Me: 8000-4600-2700-1000 James: 8000-7950-5650-4150-2600-2150-1150-750-0 Winner: Me No honestly I don’t recall what happened in this duel other then it was damn close and that I barely won. As you can see at the life point total he got me down to 1000. Round 3 Me vs. Derrick (A friends of mine with a very good deck) Game 1 Me: 8000-4900 Derrick: 8000-6500-Yata lock-0 Winner: Me I managed to get Dark Ruler out and then get him stuck in a Yata Lock. Pretty quick match. Game 2 Me: 8000-3500-0 Derrick: 8000 Winner: Derrick He got me back for me Yata locking him last match by simply destroying me with Jinzo and me stuck with all traps. Game 3 Me: 8000-5900-3900 Derrick: 8000-5800-3900 Winner Me: I got revenge this match by getting Jinzo on him and finishing him off with an Injection Fairy Lily. Round 4 Me vs. Jeff (Last weeks tournament winner) Game 1 Me: 8000-6500-5500-3100-800-0 Jeff: 8000-7000-6750 Winner: Jeff Now this game I couldn’t do much, he basically countered everything I did and finished me off with a Jinzo. Game 2 Me: 8000-6900-6500-4100 Jeff: 8000-7600-7100-6900-Yata Lock-0 Winner: Me Now he had the upper hand until I got Jinzo out and then got him stuck in a Yata lock. He couldn’t do much and I won the match. Game 3 Me: 8000-7300-6900-3900-2900 Jeff: 8000-6500-5500-3100-1100-0 Winner: Me This game was crazy, it went back and forth and I even bluffed after he hit me with a fully powered up lily by putting a Yata in face down defense. He put his Lily in defense and summoned a Cyber Jar in attack mode and attacked my Face down (Yata). On my turn I change of heart his Lily and with just enough life to pump her up (2900) I attacked his Cyber Jar and finished him off. Simi Finals Me Vs Andrew (Jeff‘s [who I just faced] little brother) Game 1 Me: 8000-7900-5900-3900-1900 Andy: 8000-6000-5400-2000-1000-300-0 Winner: Me Ok Andy plays a grave keeper deck and I really hate these decks. My goal the whole game was to get Necro Valley off the field. It really didn’t pan out but I somehow won and beat him. I’m sorry this match was kinda a blur. Game 2 Me: 8000-4000-0 Andy: 8000-6000 Winner: Andy This match I kinda lost it for myself. I Solemn Judgemented something. I forget what it was but it brought me down to 4000 and he just hit me with everything he had. Game 3 Me: 8000-4300-2800-2700-700 Andy: 8000-7050-6100-5500-0 Winner: Me This match went back and forth until I finally took control and hit him with a Lily (pumped), Jinzo and a Gemini. Finals Me vs Chris (Extremely good duelist who has won a few tournaments) Game 1 Me: 8000-5000-3500 Chris: 8000-6100-4800-Yata Lock-0 Winner: Me He just had to Don me and make me discard Jinzo. I made him pay for it by drawing Yata and playing Monster Reborn. Got Jinzo back and Yata Locked him for game. Game 2 Me: 8000-7000-6000-4000-1700-1000 Chris: 8000-6800-6400-5100-Yata lock-0 Winner: Me Basically the same thing happened, we went back and forth with attacks until I got Jinzo out and Yata Locked him for the win. And my first tournament championship. My thoughts: Yeah, yeah! I know people will say Yata is cheap win. Well I say to all those people is tough luck. You only complain cuz you can’t find a way around it. I’ve been Yata locked before and was lucky enough to have a Ring or a Solemn Judgment to use to stop it. Plus it takes still, timing and luck to get someone in a Yata lock. Props: Me getting away with 4 yata locks (Two in the finals) Me putting a Yata in face down defense and not getting it killed Winning my first ever tournament after god knows how many tries Beating a few good people to get there Joking around the night before that I was going to win The cool chain that happened in my first match that almost killed us both Slops: Using a Solemn Judgment when I had 8000 Almost losing to a crap deck in my first match Having a 1st round bye Getting nothing good in my packs.
