Now I expect that most of you will go to a new report when I say that this was my first tournament at this location, but hey I did good for my first time. Also I would like to add that I am not a new player to Yu-Gi-Oh, I just haven't attended any tournaments like this before. Anywho there were around 45 people there today and around 8 of em were the stores best according to J.T. the #1 ranked player there (and who happens to be a friend of mine) so it was all good. Round 1: The King of Spades vs Marcus (beatdown variant) Now before I tell about this match I’d like to explain the guy I was up against. I’d say he was in his early to mid 20’s so of coarse I was nervous. He had a serious game face and I knew that he has made it to the finals afew times recently, so I was on edge. Game 1: So he won the coin toss and went first. He set down a Harpies Brother and passed. It went to me turn and I tossed down a Cannon Soldier with Imperial Order and a MST face down. I passed hoping he would attack my Cannon Soldier. Well he plays a Marauding Team (err something like that, it’s the one where you discard it to destroy one of your opponents monsters.) Well he used it’s effect and killed my Cannon Soldier. He then set 2 face down M/T’s. At this time I was like “oh jee beatdown, I better end this fast” so well that’s what I did. I Monster Reborn'ed my Soldier, sacked it for Jinzo, put down a Ring of Destruction, and a Limiter Removal, and I attack his Harpies bro. It went to his turn and he played a Dark Hole killing my Jinzo. He then played a GAF with a Ax on it so I activated my Ring of Destruction. It went boom and it went to my turn. I used Pot of Greed, Harpies Feather Duster, Premature Burial’d my Jinzo threw out a Cannon Soldier, and activated 2 Limiter Removals. Game. Me: 1 - 0 Game 2: So he was nervous at this point I could tell. Why you ask? Because it took him like 5 minutes a turn to do something 0_0 Anyways that game was kinda weird because we got into a argument about Bazoo’s power up effect. So finally 2 judges came over and confirmed what I said about his Bazoo being back to it’s base attack. So in that game he killed 3 of my Momongas, so I was up a good amount of life points. I tried using Monster Reborn on my Timeater but he Imperial Ordered it. That made me nervous since my hand was full of Magic. Well I set a Sangan and passed. He powered up his Bazoo after not paying Imperial Order’s cost, attacked me and went it to my turn. Well I brought back my Timeater, Change of Hearted his Bazoo, sacked it for Jinzo and that was basically the end of that game. When we were finished I could tell he was upset since he had made finals last week and well I felt good. As I got up I noticed that J.T. had beaten his opponent good in like 5 minutes so he was walking around playing little kids until the next match. Me: 2 - 0 Round 2: The King of Spades vs Kyle (Necrofear Beatdown) So this guy was one of the “semi tough” players at the store. Since Hobby Town has alot of top quality players I knew he had to be pretty good to have made it to round 2. Well like my first opponent this guy was intimidating. But I stayed cool for when we sat down I asked him if he ran “the dirty bird?” and he said “no” He told me that if I ran Jinzo he was screwed since his deck had ALOT of traps in it. I just chuckled to myself. Game 1: So he cut my deck and flipped a coin and I went first. So I played a Face down defense Momonga and with a deep sigh and a look of worry I said “pass” (little did he know I was SO bluffing since I had a Jinzo in my hand) Well he attacked my Momonga, letting me gain 1000 and bring 2 more furry squirrels out. He played 3 M/T’s and passed. I drew and with my luck got a Harpie’s Feather Duster. So I used it, fried him M/T’s and I summoned Jinzo. His eyes lit up since he knew he was in for it. So I attacked with a Momonga and Jinzo. Went to his turn and he killed my Squirrel with some weak monster. Back to my turn I killed it with Jinzo (since I had no other monsters in hand at the time) and I passed. He played Dark Hole, and I knew I had some troubles now since his hand was up to about 4 cards. He summoned another Dark type monster and attacked me. This went on for 2 turns until I got a Limiter Removal and a Premature Burial. I normal summoned a Cannon Soldier, Prematur’ed Jinzo, placed my Limiter face down, declared my attack, it got through so I Redlined. GG Game 1 is mine. Game 2: He didn’t cut my deck this time. Well he should of since my second turn draw was the beloved Jinzo. This game went ALOT faster then the first. I pulled some MAJOR sweet combos in this game where I did a 1 turn overkill. I Change of Hearted his monster, Reborn'ed my Jinzo, Premature my Barrel Dragon, and had a !!!!! Sinister Serpent in face up attack mode -_- oh but wait I can still normal summon my Timeater. Well I Redlined and owned fast. GG Winner me!!! This round took me around 8 minutes, I was second to finish only to J.T. >_< Dark him At this point in time I was happy. MY goal was to make it to third round and I had succeeded. J.T. was kinda surprised that I made it and he had an evil grin on his face. He told me he knew he was facing me in the third round >_< At that point I knew my time was up as I saw his deck against another Top Elite at Hobby Town. His deck owned that guy to. Round 3: The King of Spades vs J.T. (#1 duelist at the store, ran massive Hand Depletion) Game 1: So it went fast. And I mean FAST. He Drop Off’d my first draw, Light Force Sword’d twice and fried 2 cards in my hand, and he used Delinquent Duo. I mean DAMN. Seeing as I started that game ALREADY with a horrid horrid draw (4 magic, 1 monster) I knew I was screwed. I put up a little resistance but in the end it was nothing. Game 2: Was the same as the first one except my hand was the total opposite. I started out with 4 monsters and 1 magic. Well I did alot more damage that game and was able to use a Momonga, but in the end he fried me with Magic Cylinder and Ring of Destruction. OUCH!!! Well that was the end of my tournament day. I stuck around to watch J.T. play and well he ended up taking home the prize, he beat out Nathan in the finals and it was pretty cool to watch. While during the finals this little like 10 year old walks up and ask me if I played YuGiOh. I’m like “umm ya” so he asked me for a game. Well he was laughing the whole time since he thought he was gonna win. The lil guy told me he was gonna “own” me. Kids these days X_x Anyways I discovered he was running Exodia but I wasn't worried, I slowly beat him down and won. Second game I beat him turn 3 when I killed his hand and removed 4 pieces from the game ^_^ So I showed him. After J.T. had won the finals I was still bummed that he p0wn’d me. Well he gave me 3 cards I needed to finish my deck and well now I feel good ^_^ Was a good first day for me. I wonder what next week will bring. Props: For making it to third round For getting a nice amount of points for getting to third round For J.T. giving me some cards I needed Slops: For not making it to the Semi Finals If your ever at Hobby Town at East Park give me a shout, I’m always happy to talk and to give a p0wning.
