Finally… Kid Echo… has come back… to Pojo. It’s been a while since the last time I typed up a tourney report. I hope you all missed me. I’ve made some changes to my deck since then, as you would guess since a new booster came out. I named my deck the Matrix because I was at the movies the other day and I saw the previews for the movie and the name sounded pretty good. If anyone else has used this name before, sorry. I went to Wal-Mart on Friday to buy the new Yu-Gi-Oh! Game. I just kept the cards and sold the game to my friend for $20 because I don’t own a Game Boy Advance (still got the old school big Game Boy though… Yay!). I spent the night over my friend Jesse’s house on Friday night, and we stayed up all night playing Halo and Unreal Tournament, so I was really tired today. I slept in between every duel When I went to sign up for the tournament, Jeremy (the tourney organizer) told me that Graceful Charity was restricted to 1. I wasn’t sure if the was true or not, but whatever. I just switched in a Megamorph and was ready to go. He also said we could only play one of each of the SDD promos. Oh well, on to the duels.

Round 1:  Kid Echo vs. Tristan (not sure what kind of deck)

First duel I constantly run Bazoo and Jinzo into him. Not much excitement.

5850 – 0

Second duel I Change of Heart his mon and tribute for Jinzo on my first turn. I pummel him with it for three turns, until he kills it with a reborned Summon Skull. I simply fissure his SS and Reborn my Jinzo. Game.

7900 – 0

Round 2: Kid Echo vs. Sisco (beatdown)

I have never dueled Sisco before so I didn’t know what to expect.

First duel I get out Summoned Skull and constantly hit him. I only took 1000 damage from a Nimble Momonga. Easy win.

In the second duel, I think I only pulled two mons. I get ran over by a Maha Vailo and some Momongas. I think I hit him once with his own Maha or maybe a Magic Cylinder…?

0 – 6650

In the final duel, I pick up where I left off in the first duel and beat him to a pulp.

6300 – 0

Round 3:  Kid Echo vs. John friend of Sisco (fusion deck)

I’ve seen John before but have never dueled, so once again I didn’t know what to expect.

I swear this guy must play like four Change of Hearts. He took almost every monster I put down. Later in the duel, hits my Cyber Jar and gets Relinquished and the ritual card. I only get a GAF. He sucks it up and kills me.

0 – 6000

In the second duel he gets out a Twin Headed Thunder Dragon on his second turn. He Raigeki’s my field and attacks. Luckily I had down a Magic Cylinder. This duel was just about neck and neck the whole time, but my Megamorph comes through in the clutch and I hit him for the win.

1300 - 0

Third duel I demolished him. I finished him off with an attack and shoot by Cannon Soldier.

 6250 – 0

Round 4 semifinals:  Kid Echo vs. Law (Dark Necrofear)

I don’t know if you’ve read any of my tourney reports before, but I have never beaten Law. He constantly eliminates me from every tourney that I go to.

In the first duel Law draws like one monster. I run him over with SS and Jinzo the whole duel. The only damage I took was when he Change of Hearted my Summoned Skull. I’m starting to think that this time I might beat Law.

5500 – 0

I wasn’t thinking that for long. He runs me over with every monster in the book. The only damage he took was from his own Solemn Judgment that he used on my Jinzo.

0 - 4000

This duel was about the same although I did get some hits in. In the end he tries to summon Dark Necrofear and I activate Torrential Tribute, so he kindly activates Solemn Judgment and attacks me for the win.

0 - 1600

Consolation Round for 3rd:  Kid Echo vs. Cash Money (Dark Necrofear)

I really don’t like this guy. He’s always laughing during his duels and when ever he pulls off a combo, he always tells people to come and see what he just did. Also he eliminated my friend Jesse last tourney and he eliminated my friend Michael today. I start this duel looking for revenge.

First duel gave me the hugest headache. All we did was counter each other. Jammer, Imperial Order, Magic Cylinder, Mirror Force, Seven Tools, Trap Hole, Torrential Tribute, and Waboku. Everything you can think of was played. At one point I was at 1100 LP and he was at 300. He activates Ceasefire on my Penguin Soldier and I take 1000 so I have 100 LP left. I draw my next card praying for something that will help me win, it was a… Cannon Soldier! I knew there was a reason he was in my deck. I summon shoot him for the win.

100 – 0

In the second duel, I pulled off a great combo that spanned over two of my turns. First I try to flip Penguin Soldier but he activates Ceasefire. I then Snatch Steal his Dark Necrofear and attack him with it and PS for 2950. Next I activate Imperial Order so he won’t gain 1000 LP so he gets back DN. On his turn he attacks me with DN but I activate Waboku. On my next turn I don’t pay for Imperial Order so I get back DN, and I attack him again for 2950. Cash has about 900 left so he draws a card and quits.

1600 – 900

I find out the Grant beat Law in the finals, so I’m happy. Grant also plays Dark Necrofear. It was funny when I thought about it, that 3 out of the 4 duelists in the finals played Dark Necrofear. I think Dark Necrofear is really popular around here (being sarcastic)…

Jeremy hands me my two LON packs for getting 3rd and says, “I command you to open those packs, the only holo that has been pulled is Kycoo!” Being the little guy that I am, I quickly open the packs. First pack I get Jowgen the Spiritualist…crap. I toss the cards to some little beggar kid. I open my next pack to find a United We Stand. Yay! Now I don’t have to buy one. I don’t know where I’ll put it though; maybe I’ll take out Megamorph…

Now it’s time for the Props and Slops.

Props:

To me for getting 3rd

To Jeremy and John for running a very organized tournament

To my deadbeat dad for sending me the money to buy the new Yu-Gi-Oh! game

To Michael for making to the second round even though he sucks, this just further proves my deck building skills.

For pulling a United We Stand

To Grant for winning the tournament

To Law… I shall beat you some day

Slops:

For losing to Law

To Heroes Collectibles for being a rip-off (the owner bought the new Yu-Gi-Oh! game, opened them and took out the cards, and sold each card for $30 and the game for $24)

To Cash… I just don’t like you

To the losers who send in fake decks because they fear their real deck will be countered. A great duelist fears no one. Besides, no one cares what’s in your loser decks anyway.

If you are ever in the Houston area, come down to Heroes Collectibles. It’s a great place to play and there’s Unreal and Halo tournaments running on two flat screen TV’s after every Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament.
