By the way, I would like to say what's up to fellow duelists on Pojo that have come forth and supported me with comments and suggestions (Justin Meyer-tearing it up in Saint Cloud with Exodia, Blacklabel, Voltaire, etc.) Yes, I read the other reports as well. 1st match Opponent: Theo (Burn) Theo apparently is a Collector's Corner (CC) veteran. Right before our tournament at World of Books started, we were invaded by some duelists from Oakland (CC). This was cool with me, since I know most of them from me owning the card of "double duels". The card "double duels" allows me to play in an un-official tourney on Saturday at CC and also the Official UD on Sunday at World (and also to watch two episodes of YuGiOh on Saturday morning). I have dueled many a CC Beatdown, but my run-ins with CC Burn have been less than 5, and I've never played Theo before. Who's going to turn the heat up faster? Hint, hint: Oakland is by the bay, San Leandro is more inland. It's always cooler by the bay. First duel, we were burning each other slowly. I was bringing him down slowly with shots from my Cannon Soldier. The biggest hit I got in was when I Ceasefired with 6 effect monsters on the field, burning Theo for 3000 LP. I had him down to 1500. Theo was also doing his part, burning my LP down. He hit me with Tsurugis, Giant Germs, and Dream Clowns, bringing me down to 1900. From what I could tell, our decks were similar, so the match would depend on skill, luck of the draw and timing. He makes the first mistake by leaving 4 monsters on the field, waiting for his Cannon Soldier to start launching. Before he knows it…BAM! Just Desserts! Second duel, Theo wised up and played a perfect duel. He didn't leave me any mistakes to capitalize on. I had him down to 5000, while I was at 3100. He gets a Raigeki, clears the field, attacks with two Germs and a Sangan. I couldn't draw any counter cards. Third duel was a two strike deal for me. He was burning my LP slowly, 500 to 1000 a hit. However, I was able to get monster advantage on the field, and I was able to take a big strike at him for 3950. Next turn, I struck again, except I drew a Cannon Soldier to also launch my monsters at him. 2nd match Opponent: Kevo Kaiba (Clown Control) If you read the Kforce1 reports, you know that Kevo's Clown Deck was able to take 3rd place out of 120 duelists at the big San Francisco Cow Palace tournament. This meant that his deck was no joke, even though as a joke I had dared him to be a "biter" and copy SomeGuy's Clown Deck. What's the big deal with original deck ideas anyway? =) First duel, one word: embarrassing. The duel did not go very well for me. His clowns and trap holes kept me from being able to establish a defense, and he whittled me down to zero LP in about 7 turns. Total damage I did to his LP? ZERO! Hahaha, sidedeck please! Second duel, before it started, I had to sidedeck. Added in some Tsurugis and Infinite Dismissal, take out some Germs. Well, the sidedecked helped a little, I was able to bring him down to 2500. He had brought me down to 1250, by controlling the field with 1 dream clown and 1 crass clown, along with 1 white magical hat attacking me for 1000 LP and a card for 5 turns! After using all my energy to get rid of those three, I was able to start planning my attack. I finally drew a Just Desserts and had it sitting and waiting for him. But next turn he drew a Monster Reborn and summoned my Cannon Soldier. I got clowned today! What's up! to the hardcore Yu-Gi-Oh! gamers at a World of Books. to Kevo taking 3rd at the Tri-Star tourney, winning $150 and treating all the duelists at World of Books by buying them all booster packs! What a great guy! Get lost! to the thieves that steal cards. Serf buffserf@yahoo.com
