Anyways, I came back to the store on time, picking up my deck and spares from the car, and signing up to the tournament. The my discontent, my friend, for which I had made him a deck the night before, backed down, and decided to go shop, so I was left alone, with people I didn't know, lol, but oh well, it wasn't too long I made some friends, and started to have some practice duels, against a friend I had just made. He played somewhat a Dragon deck, basing himself around the 2 bigger ones, BEWD, Thousand Dragon, and some others. Obvisouly, his deck had like 80 cards, it was a brick, but let alone, I dueled him 3 times, winning all 3, lol, mostly taking damage by myself. I think the lowest he got me was around something 4000 LP, but none the less, it was good practice. Before the tourney started, I got the shocking announcement that LON cards were banned from the tourney, so I was kinda've displeased, while the new Deck cards were legal... And so it begun... --Tournament-- Round 1 Docshadow09 (Suicide Beatdown) vs Brandon (Dragon Brick) Fate has a weird way of working, as the guy I had my 3 practice matches had to be my starting opponent. We had a good laugh before the match, as we knew what was coming. Match 1: Not much I can remember out of this one, all I can though, is that I got Man Eaters early on controlling the feild right off the bat, and then summoning Jinzo to do my dirty work, killing off whatever he could get out. Though around turn 6, he card destructed our hands, and lucky guy got Scapegoat to defend himself, so that only pushed the inevitable when I ended up depleting his life Points 1-0 Match 2: Same as match 1, I took control of the feild early on, not showing remorce, but my carelessness and enthousiasm got the best of me, as he actually managed to get Red Eyes onto the feild, by TRIBUTE... I know I know... but next turn, Fissure had it's way... He ended up playing Scapegoat in the end, as a last resort, but I raigeki'd and slashed at his LP with SS 2-0 And Game Round 2 Docshadow09 (Suicide Beatdown) vs nice kid (Beatdown) The kid was a regular to the place, wanted to trade a few cards before the match, but I had to decline, cause he was asking too much for too little... Match 1: This one went pretty fast, he didn't summon anything in the starting turns, while I got out 2 level 4s, taking his LP way down early in the match, but he started a comeback, Dark Holing and inching his way back up, but to his avail, I had too big of a lead, and finished his LP in a matter of a few turns 1-0 (3-0) Match 2: This one was more interesting, we exchanged blows, and he got me down pretty low early in the match, due to my poor first hand, of all magics and traps. Lucky for me, I got a SS and Mega attached to it out, and washed the floor, but he somehow got it killed, and in the end, it was down to my La Jinn and Dark Elf vs his 7 Color... it was game from here on then, seeing I double killed, then attacked with Elf for the win. This one was a real close one. 2-0 (4-0) And Game Round 3: Docshadow09 (Suicide Beatdown) vs Mike (Advanced Beatdown) I had seen this guy before, I beleive he was in his 30's, maybe 40's, an excellent dueler I knew, so I couldn't slip up against him, or it could spell sudden doom. We shook hands, talked a little, and it was on Match 1: Right off the bat, blow after blow, we would send out our monsters, to destroy one another, taking little damage in the beginning, then came the big monsters, starting with his Jinzo, who took control of the feild, but a quick Fissure put this match back on even grounds, and in my favor, as I started to depleet his LP, hitting 1 or 2 Nimble Momonga's along the way, yet nothing major. All in all, in the end, I held the upper hand, beating him, something like 600 to 0, rather too close. 1-0 (5-0) Match 2: This one went wrong right from the start, me drawing nothing to begin with, and no monsters for 2 turns, while he just took wak after wak at my LP. I finally managed to get a monster out, and tribute it next turn, for SS, with a Megamorph, taking out his Fish, but he removed my SS soon enough, and got a Maha out with Axe, which tore once again at my LP. Fissure took care of that. For the next few turns, it was a stail mate, nothing happened really, then I took down his Nimbles, and had 3 monsters on the feild, to his 0 on his side. A face up SS and a face up MEB was all I had, with a face down MoF, but alas, he has a Feind Megacyber waiting in his hand, pouncing on my MEB, beating my LP to the ground. 1-1 (5-1) Match 3: Pressure was on, cause I knew I always choked in 3rd matches, I learned that off Apprentice, choking in tough situations. Blows were given, I didn't draw much in the opening turns, blocking with Jirai, but his Goblins got the best of me, yet I retaliated, bringing out my first SS, killing most of his monsters. Coming down to the wire, I had around 2000 LP, him about 2200, we both only had 1 card in each our hands, he had 2 face down cards, and I had 1 (MoF) with a SS at it's side (it survived long). 1 card in my hand, Jinzo, and he only had 1 too. I flipped my MoF, got my Reborn back, tribute summon Jinzo, Reborn his SS, and bam 3 heavy hitters on feild. He tried to Trap Hole, but forgot about Jinzo, and then I went on to attack his 2 face down cards, one being Mask of Darkness and the other being nimble Momonga... more annoyance... he brought 2 down, and next turn, I killed them, and finished off his LP. After match, he showed me his hand, Mechanical Chaser... I almost fainted, seeign that card in his hand, but he brought a good point, seeing what good would it have done, without any attach cards? And so it ends, me victorious, and this time against a heavy hitter. 2-1 (6-1) And game With Round 3 over, people were iliminated, while I went on to the semi's, but little did I know the true value of this match, for I wouldn't of done what I did... It came to my attention also, that a little problem occured when 2 duelers summoned Exodia at the same time (Sangan attacking Sangan, both getting last peice), but little did I know, this would mean something to me. Round 4 (Semi-Finals) Docshadow09 (Suicide Beatdown) vs Kid (Removal/Beatdown) This guy was a change for me, I am french of maternal language, and so was he, and it's rare to find a dueler that is french where I go, but I hear there were alot of regulars that didn't show up today, and some are french as well. Little did I know the true value of this match Match 1: Demolished the kid bad, he barely got any monsters out, and when he did, Jinzo or SS took charge, putting them to the ground. In the early match, we both set MEBs, and me starting destroyed his first, and getting an open shot with my tributed SS, it went uphill since then and I took the match rather quickly, 6000 to 0, but that's where it all went downhill 1-0 (7-1) Match 2: My cockyness kicked in, seeing how easy I beat the kid, yet I started off better then the last round, and brought him down rather quickly, but then I started to make mistakes, forgetting cards in my hand, and playing the wrong monsters, while I had the good ones in my hand. He got out his Barrell near the end, cleared the feild, and demolished my LP. 1-1 (7-2) Match 3: I started to see that this one wasn't going to be easy, and I started off strong again taking down everything, in a blink of an eye, but then the mistakes caught upto me. What really crushed me was in the end. We were down to both 1800, both of us having a 7 colour on the feild, his turn. He set a card, and played a card face down, and ended his turn. I played my second 7 colour, only to see it go down in Trap Hole. I ended my turn, playing a Fissure not doing anything else, in case of an MEB... he played another face down card, flipped his MoF, and got some magic back, Raigeki. This is where is happened, he Raigeki'd, and I didn't draw much, and forgot to played a 7 colour, but forgetting to attack... He played a face down card, and played Fissure on me. Now I played really dumb, I had 3 cards, Harpy's Brother, MEB, and Cyber Jar. He only had 1 card in his hand. I played MEB in face down, and ended my turn... He sacked his 2 monsters for Barell, why did I not see this... he get's the effect, destroys my MEB, and Destroys me... 1-2 (7-3) And game... We shook hands, and handed in our sheets. We waited a few minutes, I talked with a few people while the rest of the matches were being played. And soon the dreaded words came, the store manager had enough stats to bring fowards the standings, I was 3-1, but little did I know that the person I lost too was 4-0, taking soul position of 1st, while I dropped down into a fight between 4th and 5th (remember those 2 guys who tied? they were in a fight for 2nd and 3rd)... Round 5 (Match for 4th place... 5 bucks extra, whopty doo...) Docshadow09 (Suicide Beatdown) vs Snoby kid (Beatdown) Before the match, I asked the kid what kind of deck he played, he wouldn't say, so he asked me, so I started to play mind games, saying I played an offensive Exodia... He looked at me and said that he played an Anti Exodia Beatdown, I just chuckled, and we went on... Match 1: I just went all out, seeing how ticked I was, I beat the kid down to the ground, taking everything down... He NoC'd my MoF, so I searched my deck for the rest, but the kid next to me looked at my deck, and saw my exchange... He said that Promo cards were banned (since when?) but wouldn't tell anyone, so I just took the card out as well, in case I would think of using it... anyways, I depleted his LP, though we had a little trouble keeping track of SORL, and how long it stood on the feild, but all in all, I won this round... 1-0 (8-3) In between the match, the kid was gloating about his Jinzo, while I just turned around and said I played one as well... he just looked at me and said "What kind of idiot plays Jinzo in an Exodia deck?" I just looked at him, and said to just get the match started... Match 2: This one was long, really long, both of us stalling as long as possible with Swords, still loosing track of how long it's been on the feild, but in the end, the kid took advantage of my multiple use of SJ, and beatdown the rest of my LP... 1-1 (8-4) Match 3: I was just annoyed by the kid, and my friends were waiting for me to leave, so I wanted to end this quick, and I did, bringing out Jinzo on turn 1, with Change and jinzo himself.. and from there on end, I just took control, bringing down his LP to 0, and me winning 4th place. 2-1 (9-4) and Game I walked over to the manager, got my 10$, bought myself the Joey Deck (kick arse deck) and 3 LON packs, (And no, it didn't cost me 10, it cost me more, Joey Deck si 25, and packs are 7) and then I left, into the blinding sun, home, with a 4th place finish :-/ Tournament Overall: Well, it was something interesting too see a small town guy taking on some of the big cities top duelers, and it was a pleasure ;) Props and Slops *Props* - To my Jinzo, for bailing meout so many times, lol - To meeting Mike and Brandon, 2 great people - To me for getting 4th in my first tourney - To me for finally getting the Joey Deck, and Scapegoat (drools) - To A&W, for making world class Hot Dogs, lol - To Kool Kards, for making an awesome tourney ;) - To me, for making a kick arse Beatdown, with no GAF or Gemini or Mehcs (though I don't have any) *Slops* - For LON and the EDS cards being illegal in the tourney - To my friend Matt, for not entering, with the Stall/Burn deck I made him (though it was kinda illegal, alot of LON) - To some kid, for loosing his 7 Tools and Solemn Judgement - To me, for finishing in 4th, while I could have taken the big prize home... - To me, for making the dumb mistake when I needed the right moves - To Brandon, not winning a match, poor guy :-/ Thanks to all that read this report, hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writting it, and if you got anything to say, just email me to docshadow09@hotmail.com I wish I could enter in the big Tourney on the 29th and 30th, where a Box of asorted packs goes to the winner, but I don't think I will make it, but if I do, watch out everyone, I am coming with my Clown deck, and it's no joke Thanks all, Doc ;) lol
