Subject: Ryan's Beatdown deck at All the Fun Stuff-Katy, Tx Date: 3-8-03 Saturday- All the Fun Stuff- Katy, Texas. Name: Ryan Isaac Deck: Oblivion Beatdown Well, this was an official tournament at All the Fun Stuff in Katy, Texas. My name is Ryan Isaac, and I arrived there with two friends about an hour before start. This tournament sadly, had no prizes, but it was at least free, and plus I could use the points for standings. So, here’s how it went down. From 1 p.m. to about 5:30 p.m. Right away, I had to get my hands on some LON booster packs, right? There was one problem, no money. That is what friends are for. Each of my friends bought a few booster packs. One of my friends, Brad, let me have one of his packs. I opened it, and found the newest addition to my deck, Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer! Unfortunately, he got nothing useful. He then went on to buy 6 more packs, making the total count of packs eight! Not one holographic! Too bad for him, but my other friend Guy (Yes, his name is Guy!) eventually bought 7 booster packs, he gave one to me of course, but every pack he got a holographic! Every pack! I also got a holo, but anyways, on to the tournament. Tournament Number of People: 20-30 Deck: Oblivion Beatdown Monsters: 20 x3 Harpie’s Brother x3 7 Colored Fish x2 Summoned Skull x2 Jirai Gumo x2 Goblin Attack Force x2 Hayabusa Knight x2 Magician of Faith x1 La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp x1 Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer x1 Cyber Jar x1 Wall of Illusions Magic: 13 x1 Monster Reborn x1 Dark Hole x1 Raigeki x1 Heavy Storm x1 Premature Burial x1 Giant Trunade x1 Change of Heart x1 Snatch Steal x1 Mystical Space Typhoon x1 Nobleman of Crossout x1 Pot of Greed x1 Swords of Revealing Light x1 Fissure Trap: 7 x1 Call of the Haunted x1 Horn of Heaven x1 Ceasefire x1 Mirror Force x1 Magic Jammer x1 Solemn Judgment x1 Imperial Order Well, this thing finally got started, and the kid I was facing in round one looked to be an easy one. Boy was I right. Round One Me vs.??? (Can’t recall his name, let’s just call him Pablo) Pablo used a mixed deck. Duel One: Well this one was pretty quick and easy. Took control of the field by putting down a GAF, he soon put a face down monster, as I expected. Next turn, Change of Heart, tribute, Summoned Skull, bam, 4800 LPs in that battle phase. Then, he put down a nice 1800 attacker and attacked my GAF; I activated Mirror Force, then wiped him out next turn with SS and a Hayabusa Knight. Duel Two: Not as quick as the first one, but basically the same thing. I finished off his life points with Kycoo, SS, Hayabusa Knight, and Harpie’s Brother. Winner: Me Well, to inform you of my friends’ matches, to put it short, Brad lost to a guy I think is named Michael who uses a water deck, and Guy defeated some kid in a red hat. Not very exciting duels. Next round! Round Two Me vs. Joe (I think that was his name, hard to remember…) Joe used a Masked Beat deck. Duel One: Now, this kid was easy. I let him have duel one to get him over confident and see his strategy. It worked. He pretty much had it based around Masked Beast, which I let him get out and obliterate my life points. No sweat, I really did let this kid have this duel. Duel Two: This time, I showed him my might. Destroyed him in three turns with my Nobleman of Crossout, SS, and Hayabusa Knight. This was too easy. Duel Three: Now, the kid put up a fight in this one. He might’ve had me, but he was afraid that I had Mirror Force. Of course I didn’t have it on the field, but I bluffed well. He passed his turn, leaving him open for a Raigeki. He soon fell pray to an onslaught kamikaze of Jirai Gumos and Goblin Attack Forces. Winner: Me Now, for my friend’s results. Guy lost to a guy he called, “the dude with no emotions”. I’d soon be playing him, but for the third round, I had to face the duelist who defeated my friend Brad, Michael, the guy who won the tournament last week. Round Three Me vs. Michael Michael used his Water Deck. Duel One: Brad kept telling me how hard he was, but evidently, Brad just sucked. I saw that Michael did in fact, use a water deck, but I beat him down before he could break out any major offense with his water creatures. It was over all too soon on the 4th turn when I activated my Raigeki and Heavy Storm to clear his SoRL. I destroyed his LPs with SS and GAFs. Duel Two: He kicked it up a notch in this duel. Countering most of my counters and tactics, he soon put me away with a Giant Red Seasnake and a few Cure Mermaids. I did manage to activate Mirror Force, but he countered it with Seven Tools of the Bandit. Duel Three: This one was much like the first, except it took a bit longer. I was keeping him from putting monster with cards like Mirror Force that would kill them, and then I finally took him out with a few Hayabusa Knights and 7 Colored Fishes. Winner: Me While I was dueling, I spotted a guy with a Gemini Elf and was going to try and trade for it. He would not trade unless it was for Jinzo or Kycoo and something else, so I did not make that trade, who knew I’d be facing him later on. I also saw a sign-up sheet for a side tournament with a 5$ entry fee. Winner got to choose a 40$ card for their prize. My chance to get Jinzo was revealed. I quickly entered it. I did participate in this tournament in between the main one, so I will get to it later. Well, my next match was up and we were in the semi-finals. My opponent was a familiar face from another store, Megaplay. Round Four Me vs. Kid from Megaplay whose name slips my mind Kid used an Exodia Deck. Duel One: He made the mistake of telling me he used Exodia. I added my Exodia countering from my Side Deck. The match turned into him stalling with a Labyrinth Wall after I eliminated his chance of Exodia. I soon had an army of monster on my side and he had a defense of a few monsters. Using a fissure, I destroyed his face-up Labyrinth Wall, and then obliterated him with my monsters. Duel Two: He almost tricked me in this duel. He was going to take out Exodia and I had to go to the restroom. But I was too smart, I knew he had kept Exodia in his deck, but I played along. I even took out my counter measures. This duel was over in three turns. Brought down SS and Hayabusa Knight and with good Magic cards, his life points were dust. Winner: Me It was time for the final round now, and I had to face the person who actually got me to go to the tournaments at All the Fun Stuff. Brian was my opponent, and I knew that it would be a good match. Final Round Me vs. Brian Brian used what looked like a Beatdown deck. Duel One: He Axe of Despairs soon got annoying, but with Giant Trunade, Raigeki and good ole’ GAFs, I wiped him out. He did manage to drag it out to about turn 5, so that surprised me. Duel Two: This duel was full of counters, but it was still quick. It was soon over after I used my Jirai Gumos and GAFs to break through his monsters. Then Hayabusa Knight took out his LPs. I think the duel was about 5 turns. Winner of the Main Tournament: Me! So, I won the tournament! But remember when I told you I’d be facing the no emotion guy that beat my friend, Guy? Remember when I told you I’d take on the guy with the Gemini Elf? Well, enter Side Tournament. Side Tournament Eight people were in this tournament. My first opponent was not a rookie, but not a challenge either. His deck was a Toon Deck, but still no match for mine. Round One Me vs. Toon Dude He used a Toon Deck. Duel One: This one was a long duel. I didn’t expect it to come this long. With two Cyber Jars in a row, we almost ran out of cards, but in the end, it was my SS taking out his LPs. Duel Two: This duel was very fast, I beat him on my third turn after Change of Hearting his monster and tributing it for my Summoned Skull. Along with GAF and Jirai Gumo, this match was over quickly with me taking out his life points. Winner: Me A funny mishap took place. I was supposed to duel this guy, right? Well, before him, I dueled the kid in the red hat that my friend Guy beat. I owned that kid and he soon pointed out that our duel didn’t count. Heh, pretty funny. Next round! Round Two Me vs. No emotion guy (I can’t remember the name! Sorry if you are reading this!) He used a Beatdown Deck. Duel One: Quick and easy. My three turn victories should’ve been famous by now. Once again, Change of Heart and Raigeki did this guy in. I soon took out his LPs. Duel Two: Same as the first one pretty much. He did manage to get me down to 2300 LPs, but in 4 or 5 turns, I had him beat. My Jirai Gumos were the monsters that took him out this time. Winner: Me Well, it was time for the final round. And my opponent was the guy who had the Gemini Elf. We both agreed on the first prize card, Jinzo. The second place prize was a LON Booster Pack. And the third place prizes were grab bags, heh, they got a Flute of Summoning Dragon in it! Well, final match! Final Round Me vs. Dude with Gemini Elf (Once again, I apologize for not knowing the name!) He definitely used a Beatdown deck. Duel One: Man, he destroyed me this match. Taking my Jirai Gumo, reborning my GAF, Premature Burial on his dead monster! This wasn’t over quick, but the end results were him winning. Duel Two: Now this was my duel! I used Swords of Revealing Light twice thanks to my Giant Trunade, and this move gave me time to get back my Raigeki and Change of Heart to pull my usual move. My SS, Magician of Faiths, and GAF took his LPs to zero. Duel Three: A very intense duel. Tensions were running high, and the stakes were great. The victor would receive Jinzo! Well, the match began with him going first and putting down an 1800 attacker. I proceeded to use Pot of Greed and Change of Heart, plus an 1800 hitter of my own to inflict a quick 3600 damage to him. Me: 8000/Him: 4400. He recovered well by putting down another 1800 hitter and playing Raigeki, but I stopped it with my Imperial Order. My turn, I tributed my monster for Summoned Skull; I also played Monster Reborn to get my monster back. I killed both my monster and his monster then SS hit him for 2500 LPs. Me: 8000/Him: 1900. His next turn he put a face down monster. Well, my turn came and there was one thing to do. I used Dark Hole, and boy did I make a good choice, the face down monster was a Cyber Jar. I then put down GAF and killed the rest of his LPs. The winner and recipient of Jinzo: Me! Overall, this day was a great day for me! I won the Main Tournament and the Side Tournament, not to mention I got a Jinzo! Pros -Got a Kycoo in booster pack -Beat both people that beat my friends -Won Main Tournament -Won Side Tournament -Received a Jinzo! Cons -Friends lost Ryan Isaac Asheetaka2021@hotmail.com
