As you may notice, I play an Dark element deck, mainly beatdown with a deck destruction sideboard. There were about 30 or so duelists, half kids, half teenagers. I came in late, so I had to wait to be placed in the second round. Only thing I could expect from the players in this area was Exodia and maybe some kind of beatdown variant. Duel 1 Rod vs. Will After a few turns, I realized his deck was a mixed beatdown deck, with MoF and MEB’s to keep me guessing. I crossed out anything that stood in the way of my assault and cruised to victory in the first game. Second game, he had me on the ropes because I wasn’t drawing anything other than Walls of Illusion and La Jinn. He whittled me down to 5200, with only a Dark Elf on my side of the field during his turn. He Changed of Heart my Elf, and slapped two Malevolent Nuzzlers on her, attacking directly with it and one other monster to win the second game. Third game, we traded hits, while I drew the pieces to my game-ending strategy. I Snatch Steal one of his monsters, tribute it for Barrel Dragon and annhilated two turns later. Intermission, went back to car, grabbed soda, watched collectors outside haggle and bicker. Duel 2 Rod vs. Dinh I had hoped not to face a Gravity Bind/Lockdown deck at the tournament, I would have gladly faced an Exodia player. Nevertheless, I lost in two straight to him, without having once summoned Jinzo. The icing to cake was that he tried summoning Relinquished in each game. Made me wish my Giant Trunade and Heavy Storm weren’t stolen from me. In both games, I almost pulled a comeback, with SoRL being my one saving grace. In the last game, I tried suicide rushing my WotBF at his Relinquished to get Jinzo and summon him the following turn, but by then it was too late, and my lifepoints were already being chipped away by his Jinzo#7s and Mystic Lamps. All in all, I met some nice people, and I’m already contemplating what cards to put into my sidedeck to combat Clown Control and Gravity Bind. After my last match, I was able to trade the Gemini Elf I cracked in a booster to one of the many card collectors roaming around for a Dark Necrofear and Kycoo, the Ghost Destroyer. The guy swindled me, by my opinion. I would have liked getting one more Ghost Destroyer. I was trading him a Gemini Elf, after all. Bought four packs, and only got a Mask of the Accursed for my efforts. Cheers: Cards & Comics for the tournament, my opponents for the experience, Serf and the KForceOne team for posting cool tournament reports Jeers: Greedy collectors, cocky Exodia players, card thieves send comments, suggestions, flames to v1z10n@yahoo.com ===== "They have no Vision, and when there is no Vision the people perish." -Franklin Delano Roosevelt, First Inaugural Address, 3.4.1933. optica.sub-central.com
