NOTE: This tournament went by all the official rules (no Japanese Asian-American, or Counterfeit cards, and no ‘English’ god cards), restriction list, and official rulings. It wasn’t supposed to be held that day, but the guy who runs the league (Justin) is going in to the hospital (please pray for him). So, since we didn’t have any prizes, an entry fee of one good condition super-rare or higher card was imposed (no starter deck cards). There was only one duel per round, because of time constraints. Also, there was a 15 minute time limit on all duels, also from time constraints.

First place prize: 12 Cards

Second: 8 cards

Third: 4 cards

Fourth: 2 cards

My friend Hugh and I went to the tournament with high spirits, hoping to win. He had a harpy beat-down deck that had won him second in the last tournament. He needed a cheap super-rare, so I lent him my confiscation. I entered with ‘dark spirit of the silent’, one of the worst super-rare cards (next to confiscation). Now he owed me one of the cards he won (I was sure he would win at least third). After we signed up, all the match-ups were announced; Hugh and I were to go against one another!

First Round: Me VS. Hugh

He immediately started by playing harpies, elegant egotist, and harpy lady sisters. After exchanging some blows, I played Swords of Revealing light and played set monsters for 3 turns. He played harpies pet dragon, by sacrificing 2 of his monsters, and attacked my nimble momanga, putting me ahead, and giving me 2 more momangas. I played another set monster and let him kill all 3 with his harpy army. Then, when I was about to play Reliquished, time was up. I won!

There was a drawing for the bye. Everyone picked a number between 1 and 100, the closest got it. Somebody else got the bye, I forget who. He was one number off the right one. Wow.

            Second Round: Me VS. Joe

Joe was once an assistant in the league, back when he had a burner. Now, he runs a beatdown with Gemini Elves and Goblin Attack Forces. After setting up his Kingdom Hearts CD, he did just that. I stalled and stalled, using both my Relinquishes, and nimble momangas. All got beat down. Then I drew the card I was praying for: Gravity Bind! I used it to stall and set up penguin soldiers, but it didn’t matter because the time was up. I had 10,000 life points!

There was another bye. I lost. No biggie.

Round Three: ME VS. Dustin

Dustin is an awesome duelist who uses a REAL Relinquished deck. I wasn’t nervous, because God always gives me calm in times like this. We were allowed a match of three duels, since there was some extra time. As long as it all took 15 minutes. Anyhow, he started with Sonic Bird and I attacked with Kycoo. I kept hitting him with Kycoo and removing with other cards. He had a bad hand, so I wasn’t surprised. Three black illusion rituals, and no Relinquished!

In the second match, it was heated. I don’t remember the details, but in the end he had a relinquished that absorbed my hayabusa knight, and a set monster. He had 2000 life left and I had a little bit more. I played Kycoo the ghost destroyer with 2 masks of brutality and attacked relinquished for 2800. His facedown card? A magician of faith, with which to get back Raigeki!

Round Four: Me VS. Beat-down Kid (sorry I didn’t catch your name)

I don’t know if he got a good hand or not, but my penguins and hayabusas were able to get through his defenses. It was getting close to 4:00, when the duelists have to leave the store, so there was only one duel. I can’t remember much about this one.

I knew I would lose, so I asked that we do only one duel. I wanted to get killed and get my second place prize. Who knows? I might win…

Final Round: Me VS. Martin

Martin is really good. He has every card you can think of, and then some. The only hit I got was a witch of the black forest with a mask of brutality. After that, it was down-hill. My only Gravity Bind was MSTed and his Gemini and goblin attack force trampled me. I had only 100 life left, no hand, no cards on the field. I drew. I stared at the card for a minute, and slapped down a magic jammer, declaring my loss. Everyone thought it was kinda funny.

So I won 3 super rares, a not so good condition thousand dragon, a good condition Toon Mermaid, a mint condition Lord of D. (tin version), and my dark spirit of the silent, along with my confiscation that I loaned my friend. He was out on me a super-rare, so he gave me his promo card he got for not placing. Praise the Lord! I couldn’t believe I won!

Props: Winning, having a good time, and getting a few good trades after.

Slops: Having to battle my friend in the first round (and take him out).
