- TOURNAMENT REPORT - Date of Tournament: June 12, 2003 Duelist: Alex Im # of Duelists: 16, I think Type of Tournament: Single Elimination Tournament Location: Comic Connections City: Hamilton Province: Ontario Country: Canada Quick Announcements: Bah! I lost so horribly. Apparently, I faced all my close friends in the beginning with my new experimental dragon deck. I wished I had my beat down from before, (It killed all my friends so fast that we joke around saying it takes only 15-20 seconds. They put up a fight, however) but I managed to not totally embarrass myself =P I've always wanted to play with dragons, but couldn't due to inability to find people with tradable dragons at reasonable prices. So I collected them slowly until now! I have built my experimental dragon deck! I'm not going to post my previous (and awesomely victorious) tournament, but kudos to my dueling gang at school, and Jason Hoye, who had the guts to surrender. Kudos to the group of elementary school boys who encouraged me throughout the first official tourney and oohed and ahhed over my plays. Kudos to the boy who had 3 Gemini Elfs against me, and sorry I Mirror Forced you. It was completely necessary, as I wanted to make a good first impression and scare. Oh yeah, one more thing. I hate you Ryan for defeating me in the semi finals! Deck I.D.: Lord of Dragons Deck Main Focus: Dragons! =D Description: To take some punishment and stall... then suddenly dish out a knockout. The Structure of the Deck: ::50 Cards:: - 21 Magic Cards! - 1x Raigeki (Heh heh heh... Shouldn't go into a tourney without one...) 1x Snatch Steal (This stole the monster that won me the duel) 1x Deliquent Duo (Hail to the Mischievious Demon Twins! Saved my butt countless times...) 3x Flute of Summoning Dragon (For OBVIOUS reasons) 1x Change of Heart (I frequently stole Magician of Faiths!) 1x Dark Hole (I can't take chances with only 1 Raigeki) 1x Messenger of Peace (To stall for lots and lots and lots.......of time!) 1x Swords of Revealing Light (Good card... good card...) 1x Heavy Storm (My ol' faithful til I got Harpies Feather Duster) 1x Harpie's Feather Duster (My new ol' faithful!) 2x Graceful Charity (Draw vital cards) 1x Card Destruction (No comment.) 1x Pot of Greed (Always be greedy!) 1x Heart of Clear Water (Hate how Lord of D. dies? This is the answer!) 2x Scapegoat (I thank you goats for your sacrifice...) 1x Axe of Despair (Booya.) 1x Monster Reborn (Resurrecting stuff is always good!) 1x Mountain (Mainly for Harpie's Brothers!) - 22 Monster Cards! - 2x Blue Eyes White Dragon (1 starter Deck, 1 LoB) 1x Seiyaryu (Wee.) 3x Lord of D. The First Round >> Uneasy Alex Im v.s. Uneasy Alex Silva (my buddy from the duelist club at school!) Alex Im: 8000,-1000 (Deliquent Duo),7000,-1800,5200,-3600,2600 Alex Silva: 8000,7950,-1350,6600 I went first, to my dismay, for I like to attack first. "Ha hah! Deliquent Duo!" "Grr..." "Yoink!" "Nooo!" He shamelessly beat me down afterwards. Normally, I love to draw crappy hands in the beginning. It saves the best for last. But this hand was just pure crap. More crappier than crap. So crappy it's not even PURE crap. It's BEYOND PURE crap. So crappity crappy crap crap crappity crap... YOU GET THE POINT! << Match 1, Duel 2! The Second Round >> Trying to be relaxed Alex Im v.s. Happy and OVERCONFIDENT Alex Silva Alex Im: 8000,-7900,6900,-700,6200 Alex Silva: 8000,6400,1600 On my first turn, I played Card Destruction to ruin his good hand. Then paying for Messenger of Peace, I waited a couple turns as I drew IT. Now what I mean by IT is a one hit wonder. 1. Raigeki! 2. Archaic Lord of D. combo! 3. Summon Red Eyes! Red Eyes! 4. Play Mountain! Boost by 200 ATK! 5. Die die die! Although he had 1600 Lifepoints remaining, he couldn't survive the next turn. << Match 1, Duel 3! The Final Round >> Sweating but relaxed Alex Im v.s. Sweating Alex Silva Alex Im: 8000,-700,7300,-700,6600,-700,5900,-700,5200,-1800,3400 Alex Silva: 8000,-HALF,4000,-1800,2200,-1800,400 I immediately started hammering him with all I had on the and second turn. He used Solemn Judgement on my first Lord of D. that I summoned, cutting his LP in half! The problem was that he didn't draw much monsters. Just magic. And as you can see from the results, I only took damage from Imperial Order. I summoned a Harpie's Brother to hammer at his Lifepoints! Snap! Crunch! And then, victory has come to me... "Lord of D. ... Flute of Summoning Dragons... Seiyaryu! Red Eyes!" I summoned my second Lord of D. when he failed to draw a monster, and summoned a Seiyaryu, and a Red eyes B. Dragon. He had nothing left on the field save for 1 trap card. I attacked with all of my monsters to finish him off! But just then... He activated Skull Lair and I watched grimly as his large pile became... well... Let's just say I couldn't believe his graveyard size. Whatever I summoned, he destroyed. "Harpie's Brother?" "Destroy!" "Nuts!" Scapegoat? "Destroy!" "Nuts!!" "Reborn, Blue Eyes!" "Destroy!" "NUTS!!!!" "Muhahahaha!" "What the- Your graveyard is still huge!" "Muhahahahaha!" "Is this the end?" I had a Flute of Summoning Dragon, Snatch Steal, and a Scapegoat in my hand. On my side of the field, Magic Jammer. Then, he drew a monster. His eyes widened with evil delight and he summoned what I feared would be the end. Fortunately, Lady Luck just loves me! It was a Kycoo, the Ghost Destroyer! "Perfect!" I thought, and took the hit as his hand flew out (Yami Yugi style). He removed a Monster Reborn, and Raigeki. (I only ran 1 Magician of Faith, and it was used, so... heh heh heh...) I declared that it was over for him. I played Snatch Steal and ripped away his victory. I obliterated his life points and it was all over... << Match 2, Duel 1! The First Round >> Alex Im v.s. Raul Franco (my other buddy that faced me!) Alex Im: 8000,-1900,4200,-1900,2300 Raul Franco: 8000,-700,7300,-700,6600 He got a Bazoo the Soul-Eater out on the first turn and hammered away. I had nothing but magic cards (thanks to my last duel, it wasn't shuffled properly and shuffling would violate the Tournament's policy on STACKING. So I had to cold shirt it.) and he had Imperial Order out as well. I died a quick and painful death. << Match 2, Duel 2! The Second Round >> Edgy Alex Im v.s. Relaxed Raul franco Alex Im: 8000,-1000,7000,-600,6400,-1800,4600,-2500,2100 Raul Franco: 8000,-1200,6800,-300,6500,6400 I payed for Deliquent Duo, missed his good card (a Raigeki...^_^;;), and suffered a lot. BRIEF FLASHBACK: We duel everyday and my experimental dragon deck stands no chance with him. My beatdown, however, for some reason, beats his better beatdown. I don't have Mage Power or United We Stand. He does... and 3 Axes. I only have 1! Pure luck? Or pure skill? ~_^ I put up a fight of about 8 turns then decided to surrender at 2100 LP. - In Conclusion - Although I may have lost this tournament, I at least moved up in rank. Raul lost a little later, and we both didn't get any prizes. Tournament packs were short on hand, so entry fee was 4 bucks and prizes were gift certificates of 5$ (Alex Silva: Cha-Ching! ^_^), the remaining tournament packs (Lucky losers: Cha-Ching! ^_^), Ballot for UpperDeck's contest (Raul and Alex Im: Boo! What about gift certificates!?), and I don't know what the champ got since I didn't stick around. Next Tournament will be more fitting, since I now have Gemini Elf and other secret weapons! Ahh! It was a great day to duel, and I wish I could duel every single minute... One could say I've got what the Soundtrack sings...
