Premature Burial (I want him back too!!!) Dark Hole (see ya in the shadow realm) Raigeki ( " " ) Forceful Sentry (card goes bye bye for now) Change of Heart (That, flip, get an effect, then tribute is the best) Harpie’s Feather Duster (Later Gravity Bind, later Messenger, later almost anything) Heavy Storm (Later Gravity Bind, later Messenger, later almost anything) Trap (10) x3 Magic Jammer (This and Serpent, nice combo! Good especially early game) x3 Magic Drain (Control, Control, you must learn Control) Robbin’ Goblin (removing cards a la delinquent duo the loss of 1000 lp always puts a smile on my face) Mirror Force (Bam, take that) Shadow Eyes (No effect, and lets flip that into attack mode. Stupid Magician of Faith is going down) Call of the Haunted (I want him back!!!) Skull Lair (Everyone hates this card being used on them, great mid-late game card!) This is my first tournament report, so bear with me as I’ll do my best here. About my deck, it’s a pretty good beatdown that needs to be slightly modified, but it’s a controlled beatdown, insofar as I try to gain card advantage and board control. Notice I have a lot of trap cards out there, they aren’t really affected by Jinzo, as my penguins will sent him back to their deck, and they have to re-tribute, I got my Rageiki and Dark Holes, My Bazoo’s mop the floor with him, cyber jar, and my Forceful Sentry will send him back to their Decks. As for Control, I get my Serpent out asap, and then I use him for Card Advantage with Magic Jammers, Gracefuls, Tributes, etc. And My Magic Jammers/ Drains, Mysticals, and other magic clearing cards allow me to control the flow of the match, while my Warriors go Yoda on their Monsters and Life Points. (If you have any suggestions, I’d be glad to receive them at the email address you’ll see posted at the Start and End of this Report.) This Tournament takes place in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. This is my 3rd tournament thus far, but my first time playing with this deck. There were 32 participants, and only one person would prevail. I went there with a good friend of mine, so I’ll give brief commentary on how he does as well! Everyone Draws a number, finds their opponent, we appoint refs, and the games begin 2:30 pm (Tourny Begins) Round 1 (Me vs Gravity Bind Teen) Game 1 – 2 This being my 3rd tourney, I’ve seen this guy before, and I knew he was pretty good. I started with Penguin, he went with a facedown. Then I flip Penguin, return both cards, get out Gemini, and start pounding away. Gravity bind and a clown comes out, I mystical space, graceful charity and serpent allow me to get 2 more cards, I play Bazoo, and start going crazy on his LP. A few moves later, I have a Robbin’ Goblin out, he’s basically out of cards, and I finish the match. Score was 7700 – 0 Game 2 – 2 Maybe he was out for revenge, but he got a monster out, change of Heart my Gemini Elf( I had no jammers out), and smacked me up pretty good. Then I get my my Gem Elf back, place Magician of Faith Down, Play Raigeki, and Smack, I try to nail him, only to get Magic Cylinder back in my face. Now I’m down to 2900 life points, so somethings gotta give. I proceed to flip my penguin, play a mystical on his messenger of peace, and start hitting away at his life with Goblin attack force, Gemini Elf, and Penguin. My final move was a 2 direct hits with Penguin soldier 750, and Gemini elf 1900 for a 2650 hit on his remaining 2650 life points. Final Life was 2900 – 0. He got upset, I got to round 2. Meanwhile my friend Marc, running a clown control with LOD cards thrown in with a Yata proceed to go 2-0 in his first series, so we both go on to round 2. Round 2 (Me vs 13 yr old Kid I know, burn Deck) Game 1 of 2: A burn Deck with 70 or so cards, I knew I was gonna win, I mean, come on, 70 cards. He used a burn card to dent my lp up for 600 hundred, then my Warriors just ran all over him. The only thing that slowed me down was having Zombyra out there, and not being able to smack his LP directly. But Gemini, Mystic Tomato, Witch of black forest took care of him quickly. My Magic Drains stopped a change of heart, I love my control cards. Final Score (7400 – 0) Game 2 of 2: Again, pretty easy. Man eater bug slowed me down a bit, then I got Goblin Attack force out, and wall of Illusion out. He burned me a few times, attacked with a weaker monster than Wall of Illusion, so it gets sent back, I flip it, sacrifice Goblin Attack Force for Summon Skull, Premature Burial Goblin attack force, and take him in 3 turns or so. Final Score: 5950 – 0. Meanwhile, my friend went 2-0, so he’s on to round 3. The Store owner is running 3 exiled forces, at least 2 freeds, a yata, and some other pretty sweet cards, mostly LOD cards and taking advantage of the non restrictions yet. There’s 2 exodia decks out there, a pretty nice water deck with Legendary Ocean/ 7 colored fishes/Legendary fishermen, and a few good beatdown/ Clown Control. Round 3 (Me vs Darryl (he beat us 2 vs 2 using an exodia deck last week)) Game 1of 3 Darryl is a good dueler, really good in fact. He’s won many tournaments, and came in 2nd in last weeks tag-team tournament, loosing to another exodia team in the final. He had beat us earlier in the tag team match, so I wanted to avenge our loss. He ran Gravity bind, Messenger of Peace deck, with a lot of good support cards, he knew what he was doing. First match was pretty tightly contested. He put a monster face down, and my zombyra took it out. Then he plays another monster face down, and activates his messenger of peace, and puts 2 more cards down. I mystical his gravity bind, only to get Magic drained. I decline, then play Heavy Storm. I summon Gemini Elf, Gemini attacks (my bad), and his man eater eats my Zombyra. Then he plays pot of greed, graceful charity, puts a card down, and lays a Hayabusa knight. Change of heart, takes Gemini, he and Hayabusa attacks. Next turn, I lay Penguin Face down, and attack his hayabusa only to get Cylinderred. I’m down to 2200 lp now, and end my turn. He play another face down card, attacks my penguin, return both cards, then play my Bazoo. Bazoo and Gemini elf then dismantled him. Final 2200 – 0 Game 2 of 3: He smacked me up pretty good, all stemming from a cyber jar. He flips it off of my attack, and I knew I was in trouble. When control shifted, he Harpie Featherred me, returned my monsters with Penguin, used change of heart, Monster Reborn, Premature burial, and his other 2 monsters to take me for game. Final Score was him 6950 – 0 Game 3 of 3: I had a great draw or so I thought, Zombyra, change of heart, Premature burial, raigeki, and Harpie’s feather duster. So, I put my Zombyra out, and take out his face down. Next turn, dark hole by him, Yata Garusa, and hit, I can’t draw now. I was terrified, as all I had was magic cards. Luckily, I had drawn forceful Sentry on my first turn. My Huge Game saving move was then playing Harpies Feather Duster, then Playing Forceful Sentry, and taking out Yata, followed by premature Burial for Zombyra (as he was the my only monster in my graveyard or hand, and ended my turn. Messenger of peace comes out, along with another face down card. I play Witch in Defense, and end my turn. He attacks my witch with Hayabusa, ends his turn. I then play heavy storm, take out 2 cards including Messenger of Peace, change of heart his face down, use it to bring out Skull, and do some pretty heavy damage. He would proceed to use ceasefire then raigeki me, but I got my Sinister Serpent out with my Witches effect, started to use my magic Jammers and Graceful Charity with Serpent at no cost, got a nice card advantage, and ended it with Mystical taking out face down card, Dark hole, and Goblin attack force for game. Final Score Me 3750 – 0 Phew, unto the Semi Finals. Exodia decks are now all out, Water Deck, out. What’s left is some other pretty good guy that I will face next, I don’t know what he’s running, store owner, and my Friend. I play the some guy, buddy plays store owner. Round 4 (Semi-Finals) Me vs Gravity bind, Direct Damage deck! Game 1 of 2: This guy was pretty good too. He goes first, face down, ends turn. Plays his Nimble Mon’s, gains life, brings out other 2. So again, I attack and bring out Sinister serpent trying to lure out a real monster, and despite Serpents low attack, it takes out a defending Nimble Mon. This work, he bring out 1200 monster, play gravity bind. I lose serpent, get him back, play Giant Soldier of Stone in Def. He attacks it next turn, bam, loses life to 2000 def, control switches to me. Stone starts attacking, and I bring out monsters in defense primarily. I just couldn’t draw a magic/trap removal. Meanwhile, his other magic card does damage everytime I have magic cards in my hand. I get a mirror force, use it, clear his field. My next turn, I finally get a Feather duster, use it, bring out Bazoo, flip Magician of Faith, get Feather duster back. Then I start pounding away again. He uses another gravity bind, I rince, lather, repeat the past 2 lines, and take him for game. Final score was me 6700 – 0 Game 2 of 2: This time his Jinzo # 7 came out, with another gravity bind, axe, and mage power, and nails me pretty good. I flip penguin and send Jinzo and Penguin back to our respective hands. He loses his power up cards. I attack with Sangan. He destroys sangan, and I get Serpent again. Now, I start using my graceful charities to gain card advantage yet again, get magic/trap removal cards, use them, and take control anew of the game. I used Skull Lair to get rid of his Jinzo #7, Nimble Mon, and other cards. I do a lot of damage, His nobleman takes out my penguins, he also gets a cylinder on me, but besides that and his early Jinzo # 7 hit, I had total control, and took the game. Final was me 3300 – 0 Yeah, now I was unto the finals. In the other Semi final Game, the series was 1 to 1 when I finished my match. My friend was running a gravity bind/ clown control deck, so I wanted him to win so I could run him over in the finals. But, he lost in the all important game 3, and would play the guy I just beat in Semi’s. I, on the other hand, would face the Store owner who was taking advantage of the as of yet to be restricted LOD Cards. Final Round (Round 5) Me vs Store Owner (warrior deck, non restricted LOD cards) Game 1 of 2: Having gone 8-1 thus far, I was pretty confident, but I knew my toughest duel lied ahead of me. He goes first, uses Charity, and summons Goblin in attack. I play my own charity, discard Bazoo and someone else, and play Penguin soldier face down. His turn, wow, this hurt. He plays Exiled forces, Monster Reborn, get my own Bazoo, uses his Goblin attack force, and hits me for like 7000. I lay Magic Drain, and penguin face down. My penguin returns his 2 non attacking cards, one of them being Bazoo back to my hand. Then I draw and play Raigeki and start the comeback slowly. He swords of revealing lights me, which slows me down again, I get rid of it, do a bit more Damage. Eventually, he wins it on a change of heart, Super pumped Bazoo which took out my Gemini elf for the Game. Final was him 3650 – 0 Game 2 of 2: He owned me. He plays Raigeki on my 1 monster Gemini elf, I get my soldier of stone in defense out there, he plays Freed, and takes out Stone. Then He plays exiled force to takes out my Bazoo. He later plays another exiled force to remove yet another one of my monsters and attacks for game. I got schmamerred, but I had a bad draw, or else I would have at least made a game of it. All in all, not bad, and revenge will be mine when his darn cards get restricted! My buddy lost to the other guy (grav bind deck vs grav bind deck) and won 4th! That was about it, there’s a few small changes I wanna make for next week, but all in all, out of 32, placing 2nd on my 3rd week isn’t bad. With the prize money, I did the honorable/usual thing and spent it in the store on LOD packs. I drew nothing except for Frontier Wiseman, 3 star, 1600/800. Not bad, I’ll side deck him for sure for vs Grav bind decks although I own them thus far. Other than that, I’m making a name for myself, as I attempt to become one of the guys to beat there, and today wasn’t a bad start! Props: 2nd in my 3rd tournament ever Avenging my loss to a good exodia player who beat me last week Winning money, which I then proceeded to spending on LOD packs Having fun Slops: Losing due to non-restrictions Being Second best That’s about it! Thanks for reading, and gl to all in upcoming tournaments! Email: Breton_is@hotmail.com Feel free to ask for or to give me advice! Thanks Yugioh name: Mart-Oh! See ya!
