I know you’re thinking that 3 spear dragons is bad but scapegoat and nimble momonga are very common in my meta-game, so these even out the scales on those.

About the tournament:

Entrance Fee: $5

First place: 6 packs

Second Place: 2 packs

1 pack for anyone who plays.

There are usually 2 tournaments each Saturday here, a 1:30 and a 3:30.  I lost in the second round of the 1:30 but pulled my second yata from the pack I chose (sweet!).  Everyone there wanted my ring of destruction, I was the only one to have one as of then, but give it a week and the other top players will have one too. This tournament was a bit smaller than usual only 16 people, its usually around 30 people.

On to the Show:

Round 1: Dave vs. Some younger kid with a huge deck

Duel 1:

This wasn’t much of a challenge.  He ran around 70 cards in his deck and didn’t pull anything to challenge my deck.

Duel 2:

See dual 1.

Round 2: Dave vs. Alan

Alan and I are decent friends and play for fun on a regular basis.  He runs a similar deck to mine.

Duel 1:

It was pretty much trade for trade on this one.  His fatal mistake was pulling a Bazoo with his witch since I had Kycoo out on the field.  A simple mistake a lot of people forgets is that Kycoo negates an opposing Bazoo.  Some spear dragons then made short work of his life points.

Duel 2:

Similar to dual one though this time injection fairly lily made the difference this time killing his jinzo and clearing the path for other monsters like my goblins.

Round 3: Dave vs. Max

Max usually runs beatdown but this time he was running an exodia deck for a change.

Dual 1:

He got a lousy draw and Spear dragons made short work of his scapegoats and life points.  Not to mention I destroyed every stall card he pulled.

Dual 2:

My offense was good but his luck was better, after a witch, sangan and painful choice & back-up soldier combo he pulled exodia.

Dual 3:

This one came down to the wire.  I knew he had 4 pieces in his hand with a witch on the field.  I tried to fiber jar but he killed it with Raigeki.  He mask of the accursed my Gemini and had a witch and 4 goats out with about 1200 life left.  I activate call of the Haunted and get a spear back to run over a goat for the win.

Round 4 (Finals): Dave vs. Rob

Rob and I agreed to split the prize before we played and just basically played for bragging rights.

Dual 1:

This was quick. After a cyber jar I had a bazoo, Spear and Gemini and he had nothing.  I attacked for 6700 and then during his draw phase I activated ring of destruction for the win.

Dual 2:

This was close but spear dragon with united we stand did the job.

I picked 2 Pharonic Guardian packs, 1 Legacy and 1 Labyrinth packs.  Got a creature swap!  Cool, a secret and ultra rare in the same day.

Now for the props:

Winning my first tournament

Pulling Yata and Creature swap

Ring of Destruction

Slops:

People who steal cards.
