Subject: Blue Eyes Deck- J Gonzales- Dalez Cards and Comics Colorado Springs Co Hey duel fans, this deck I created dominates in casual play and may seem impressive, however believe it or not I always get a bad hand in the tournament. Its like all of a sudden the Heart of the Cards brakes down on me or something. I’d say I got lucky this tournament for how far I got. My strategy is to build on a Kaiba theme (beatdown backed by Blue Eyes). I gladly welcome any advice to help thin, balance, or strengthen my deck against the tournament environment. I’d say there is about 60 to 80 duelist that attended the tournament however quantity never describes the quality of all the participants, though there are a good number of about 20 to 30 duelist there that play at the expert level. Here’s my deck. Blue Eyes Deck/ TOTAL CARDS 48 MONSTER/ 22 CARDS X3 Blue Eyes White Dragon (Signature card) X2 Tyrant Dragon (Dragon on steroids next to Blue Eyes) X1 Hyozanryu (Good defense) X1 Jinzo (We all know why) X3 Gemini Elf (Beat down) X3 Mechanicalchaser (Maxed Mage Power + Limiter Removal = 1 hit kill) X2 Goblin Attack Force (Good against 2000 Def monsters) X1 Cyber Jar (We all know why) X1 Fiber Jar (Anti Deck Destruction + open field attack = good card) X1 Exiled Force (Clean the field away for attack) X1 Witch of the Black Forest (We all know why) X1 Injection Fairy Lily (Good beat down) X2 Lord of D. (Need for combo) MAGIC/ 18 CARDS X1 Pot of Greed (We all know why) X1 Graceful Charity (Draw discard Blue Eyes reborn him) X1 Raigeki (Clean the field for an attack) X1 Dark Hole (Nuke the entire field) X1 Harpie’s Feather Duster (We don’t want to fall victim to that Mirror Force now do we) X1 Heavy Storm (See Harpie’s Feather Duster) X1 Monster Reborn (Lets bring back that Blue Eyes) X1 Premature Burial (See Monster Reborn X1 Change of Heart (Swipe your monster and lets tribute it shall we) X1 Snatch Steal (Lets take that Barrel Dragon and use his effect against you for a few turns X1 Swords of Revealing Light (Enough turns to stall for a tribute summon sounds useful) X1 Limiter Removal (Thought you were attacking an 1850ATK monster Gemini, wrong) X1 Mage Power (Good for limiter removal) X1 United we Stand (Need I Say) X1 Axe of Despair (A descent boost) X3 The Flute of Summoning Dragon (Need it for the combo now do I) TRAP/ 8 CARDS X1 Magic Cylinder (We all know why) X1 Mirror Force (Need I say) X1 Imperial Order (Hmm I wonder why) X1 Call of the Haunted (Clear field for me to take direct damage. I thing not.) X2 Magic Jammer (Stop those cards that mess up my plans Raigeki, Reborn, Change of Heart X2 Raigeki Break (Need I say its too useful to give up) Round 1 I played against a player who runs a strategy of defense. This duel only last a few turns. Match 1 Me/ LP 8000 Opponent/ LP 0 * J Turn 1: I go first set a cyber jar * Opponents Turn 1: Opponent plays Chorus of sanctuary and a face down card * J Turn 2: I flip Cyber Jar and destroy his giant soldier of stone. He draws some monster I draw the appropriate cards for Lord of D. Flute of Summoning. I play Raigeki then the combo for Blue Eyes and Tyrant and equip lord of D. with United We Stand. Game. Match 2 Me/ LP 8000 Opponent/ LP 0 * The second match wasn’t much different I learned that playing pure defense against my deck doesn’t work so well with Magic Jammer, Raigeki Break, and all the other staple cards like Imperial Order etc. Unless you get Jinzo out your in for a ride. Round 2 I knew my opponent had good cards a straight beater best describes it. Match 1 Me/ LP 0 Opponent/ LP 8000 * This duel went on for a while pure and simple I got squashed by Kycoos, Bazoos, and Fiber Jar. And when I did get my Lord of Dragon combo successfully off I got Mirror Forced. Match 2 Me/ LP 5600 Opponent/0 * Lord of Dragon Flute of Summoning comes through again but it took until about mid game and only thanks to Cyber Jar. Match 3 Me/ 4800 Opponent/0 * No Lord of Dragon Combo made it this time. My Gemini Elfs, Goblin Attack Forces, and Mechanicalchaser helped me win this duel. Fiber Jar was my opponent’s worse enemy this match not to mention his own Fiber Jar. This duel lasted quite awhile my Mechanicalchasers helped out a lot through getting past the widely played Kycoos let alone where I ran into a situation where my opponent had a Summoned Skull and I had no Mirror Force, Raigeki etc. to get rid of it so I summoned Mechanicalchaser he attacked it with Summoned Skull and I activated Limiter Removal. The circus clown attacked a 3700atk monster when he thought he was attacking an 1850atk monster. Round 3 I was eliminated here in match two there isn’t much to detail here. No Lord of D. combo for either match. I was humiliated in about two three turns by chimps (Bazoos), Spear Dragons, and Fiber Jar for both matches.
