Before I get to anything about the tournament, I'd like to take a moment to make one complaint.  It isn't about Upper Deck or Konami's tournament system, and it isn't about the lack of a Restriction List.  (I personally like that delayed list.)  It isn't about mis-rulings, or card thieves, or n00bs, or rich boy Beatdowns, or show-off players.

It's about players who won't post their real Deck Lists in their Deck Reports.

The entire point of the Killer Deck Reports section is for players to get advice on Decks, and, if they so desire, copy one of those decks to use as their own.  Very rarely will a player have an original idea in this game anymore -- players have thought too many sets ahead, and too many promos ahead.  Everything's already been planned on paper for how this game is going to turn out for about a year or so.

Those of you who have not posted their real Deck should be ashamed of themselves, and are only hurting themselves in the long run.  They could be famous forever for the deck they made, and possibly be rewarded by others who copy their Deck and use it to win.  (Wouldn't you give the person who invented a Deck you copied and won with some kickback?  I know I would.)  Those of you who are secretive; you are only delaying the inevitable.  Players will either videotape you or write down every card you play and copy your deck that way if you choose to attempt to hide, and then you won't be rewarded by the other players for the use of the idea because they went and got it themselves.  My strongest and most sincere wishes of death and the burning of their cards to any player who is against copying of Decks.

We had a relatively small turnout today.  I got to be on the side with all the good people, which meant I could knock them out in earlier rounds and cost them points if my cards fell right.  I played experienced player after experienced player, starting after Round 1.

Also, Jahinie made a "Learn to play Yu-Gi-Oh DVD", using myself and a few other players from the store as the demonstrators.  It's quite amusing, and much more informative than the Strategy Video that Konami sends out.  (You'll never see a Dark Magician or a Blue-Eyes White Dragon in this video, only Gemini Elves, Goblin Attack Forces, Spear Dragons, and more Staple Magics than you can shake a d20 at.)

Anyway, onto Round 1.

Round 1:  Any Given Sunday vs. Jamie
Jamie was a typical n00b, but I'm sure he'll learn in time.  Everyone has to play someone, and the dice rolls said I had to play him.

Duel 1:  I lost 2000 LP from my Pre-Negator cards, leaving him handless and helpless.  I hit him with a GAF, he got no monster.  I hit him for 900 (somehow...) he gets nothing.  I hit him with Yata.  He gets nothing.  2x GAFs attack for game.
8000-7000-6000 to his 8000-5700-4600-4400-0

Duel 2:
This game was more interesting and slightly more challenging.  He got out an Opticlops with a Mage Power but that was about it.  He didn't get any other M/T down, so it was just like he had a GAF.  I did lose 1000 from Confiscation...Jinzo did a lot of the damage to him.  Jinzo hit him direct, then got killed by X-Force.  I Reborn Jinzo, it kills Opti, my GAF hits direct at the same turn.  He gets nothing, I get a Gemini and game.
8000-7000-4700 to his 8000-5600-3200-0

Round 2:  Any Given Sunday vs. Greg (with a Stall Deck)
Matches with Greg are always interesting, but he hasn't beaten me yet.  It's funny that way.  His deck is good, and he's got a lot of good cards, but Beatdown still > Stall, even with Gora Turtle on its side.

Duel 1:
Mirage almost decked me.  I ended up going through 2/3 of my Deck trying to get a Mystical that never showed.  He eventually HFD'd my M/Ts (and I had THREE Wabokus down at the time, activated all of them just to be stupid.  I took 2000 LP damage from hand disruptors, but gained it back from Snatch Steal on a GAF.  A Gora Turtle with a Mage Power on it became an over 3000 ATK blocker.  In the end, I had seven cards left and won by Ring of Destruction.
Sidenote:  First thing he set in DEF, I Noblemaned.  There went his Penguin Soldier.  I ended up grabbing a Fiber Jar late game via Witch but never needed to use it.

8000-7000 (DD) - 6000 (Confiscation) -- 7000 (Snatch) -- 8000 (Snatch) -- 5700 (Ring on a GAF in Defense) to his 8000-5700 (GAF) -- 5650 (Gemini vs. Legendary Fisherman) -- 1450 (Gemini + GAF) -- 0

Duel 2:
Much shorter...three turns in all.  Graceful'd and Miraged to get Jinzo in the Grave...took 500 from a Nightmare Wheel he got out.  It quickly got HFD'd.  Two Geminis hit him for 3800.  Confiscation on the hand to check for any Kuribohs, then Premature'd Jinzo and ATKed with all for the win.
Again, first thing he put in DEF, Nobleman.  Penguin Soldier.  AGAIN.  I love Nobleman.
8000-7500-6500-5700 to his 8000-4200-0

Now I was up against Jesse.  He knew my Deck but didn't really have a way to counter it.  This was the big match.

Round 3:  Any Given Sunday vs. Jesse's Hyper Beatdown

Duel 1:  Got smacked hard and fast.  3500 from the Marauding/GAF combo.  He hits me for 1200 by running over my Witch with GAF, then for 2300 with a GAF direct.  A Jinzo ends up killing one of my GAFs in Attack Mode, I'm down to 100.  In the meantime, he lost 1000 life from Delinquent, 800 from Premature, and 1900 from a Gemini direct.  I eventually got one huge hit on him by a GAF, the Jinzo that he Reborned getting Change of Hearted, and with a Gemini in there for good measure.  Won by the skin of my teeth.
8000-4500-3700-2500-200-100 to his 8000-7000-6200-4300-0

Duel 2:  This one was lost by a stupid mistake.  We both use Confiscations on turn one.  My Witch attacks his Witch in DEF and loses 100.  I lose 4500 (Witch + CoH'd Witch + GAF).  Field is cleared, but he gets Jinzo out via CotH.  I ATK his Jinzo and get rid of it via IFL and do 1000, but he has a Ring left and gets rid of my last 400 LP.
8000-7000 (Con) -- 6900 (Witch ATK def Witch) -- 2400 (Witch/Witch/GAF) -- 400 (IFL pay) -- 0 (Ring) to his 8000-7000-6000

Duel 3:  This was a massacre.  I lost 1000 from Duo, and then he lost 1000...from my Exiled smacking him.  A Gemini gets him later, and a Premature/Reborn/etc. fit finishes it off.  Mirage of Nightmare got me mad cards.
8000-7000-6200 to his 8000-7000-5100-0

The other bracket was finished, and I had to face Jeremy.  He beat me the last time I faced him, but I beat him before that.  His Masked Beast Ritual deck is suprisingly more powerful than one would think.  I thought I'd have to get that Jammer out of my Side Deck but the need never presented itself.

Finals:  Any Given Sunday vs. Jeremy and the Masked Beast Ritual Beatdown

Duel 1:  I get ruled against on Mirage when I know I'm right.  The judge says I can't chain a MST from my hand to it in response to my own Draw, or in the process of exiting the Draw Phase.  I know you can do this, and have e-mailed Upper Deck accordingly.  I still won, but am peeved nonetheless.  He hits me with Kycoo; I end up Raigeki'ing it and hitting him for 2900 (Witch/his own Reborned Kycoo.)  He field-clears somehow, but I end up doing 2900 again somehow (I forget how though).  In the process I took a good bit of damage via Premature and Confiscation.
8000-6200 (Kycoo) - 5400 (Pre) - 4400 (Con) to his 8000-5100 (Witch/Kycoo) -- 2200 (???) -- 1200 (Exiled?) -- 0 (He conceded)

Duel 2:  Much quicker.  He side-decks Prohibitions and declares MST.  I just Heavy Storm that and a Cylinder. Sweet.  I hit him for 100 with a Gemini over his Kycoo.  Next smack is for 4200 -- a Gemini with a GAF.  I confiscate his Masked Beast when he had that in a Ritual in his hand.  Next turn, he pulls Senju and summons, trying to get Masked Beast, and kills my DEF mode GAF.  I Fissure the thing, attack with Gemini, and RoD on it for the game.
8000-7000 (Con) -- 5100 (RoD damage) to his 8000-7900 (Gem vs. Kycoo) -- 3700 (Gem + GAF) -- 1800 (Gem ATK) -- 0 (RoD kill)

The prize was 2 packs of PGD, a Necrovalley, and a Gravekeeper's Watcher.

The packs contained two Super Rares (WITHOUT me having to use my pocket scale to weigh them) -- a Gravekeeper's Chief and yet ANOTHER Mirage of Nightmare.  Now getting this card is great...but I pulled one in a pack I weighed on Monday...Traded for one on Saturday...got my 3 in the mail that I bought on eBay Saturday afternoon, so I had 5...and get another one here.  I have six of these things!
