Lightburn Deck - Cory Bruner - Game Castle - Loveland, CO - 7/19/2003 - 9 participants --- Entry Fee: $3 Prizes: Everyone who makes it past the first round wins a LOD booster, and I think the first-place winner gets another booster. --- Okay, my deck looked something like this. I would have added my Mirror Force, Cylinder and Raigeki but they hadn't arrived in the mail yet, so I had to improvise. Monsters Blue-Eyes White Dragon x2 (Good attack and defense, barely saw any use though) Airknight Parshath x1 (Card drawing and free Fairy Meteor Crush, I like) Soul of Purity and Light x2 (They weaken your opponent's monsters) Thunder Nyan Nyan x3 (The Light version of Gemini Elf) Hysteric Fairy x3 (Good attack, poor defense) Neo the Magic Swordsman x2 (Decent attack power) Maha Vailo x2 (Equips are always fun) Cannon Soldier x2 (Scapegoat combo!) Witch of the Black Forest (For getting Parshath) Cyber Jar (My favorite) Magician of Faith x2 (Re-use Dark Hole/Raigeki/etc.) Magics Scapegoat x2 (Buys some time, makes good ammunition too) Dark Hole (Clear the field and do some free damage) Heavy Storm (Bye, Traps!) Harpie's Feather Duster (Bye, More Traps!) Black Pendant (Little extra LP damage) Malevolent Nuzzler x2 (Re-usable) Graceful Charity (Card-drawing is good) Pot of Greed (Even better) Monster Reborn (Parshath strikes back!) Luminous Spark x2 (Power Up!) Traps Bottomless Trap Hole x2 (Bye, Summoned Skull!) Waboku x2 (Buys a little time) Just Desserts x3 (Big LP burner) Magic Jammer (Stops Raigeki cold) Seven Tools of the Bandit (Stops Mirror Force, etc.) Total cards: 42 --- I'm writing this from memory, so forgive me if it's somewhat innacurate. Round 1: Cory vs ???? (Semi-beatdown deck, I guess) Round 1 He used a Morphing Jar #2 on me, and then kept pulling off a combo with Guardian Sphinx (evil card, that), chipping down my lifepoints after sending my cards back to my hand. I lost this time. Round 2 I fared better this time; managed to take out his Life Points down with my Parshath and Nyan Nyans, and the occasional Just Desserts. A Metalmorphed Maha Vailo gave me some trouble. Round 3 He played Jinzo pretty early on (yikes!!), but I managed to take it out with a Nuzzler-equipped Nyan Nyan. He tried the Guardian Sphinx again, but this time I overthrew it with a Maha Vailo / Nuzzler combo. He forfeited after I brought Airshath back and blasted a few face-downs. --- Match 2: Cory vs Nathan (Pretty random deck, several lifepoint gain cards) Round 1 Pretty uneventful round, he kept playing defensively and I kept on attacking with Nyan Nyans and Hysteric Fairies (he used a Skull Dice at one point). He tried to use a Kiseitai on me, but my magic/trap zones were full so it didn't work. I won. Round Round 2 was pretty uneventful; he fared a bit better this time but I still wreaked havoc with Parshath. He also used a Barrel Dragon, but because of Dark Hole it didn't last long. --- Match 3: Cory vs ???? (massive beatdown deck) Round 1 He used two Graceful Charity and got me with a Summoned Skull and Yata-Garasu, so I set down my Cyber Jar. He flipped it; sure enough, I get one or two monsters, he gets four powerhouses (La Jinn, Bazoo, etc.). I managed to defend with Scapegoat, but that was brought to a swift end the next turn when he used Change of Heart on a Sheep Token, equipped a La Jinn with an Axe of Despair and United We Stand, then cut down 6800 of my Life Points at once. Having no way to take down that unstoppable menace, I forfeited the round. Round 2 More of the same; he gets some powerful monsters out and then crushes me. I lost pretty quickly. --- Well, I did decently considering this was my first tournament. I won a Legacy of Darkness booster, which had a Susa Soldier (a Spirit monster... yuck) and a Bad Reaction to Simochi (which might actually be useful). --- You can contact me at saltyspage@hotmail.com
