This is my 2nd Tournament report, and I not write as a more experienced Duelist.   This was maybe my 10th tourney, and I slimmed up my deck to the max!    I now possess a really strong deck, mostly a beatdown deck, but has a lot of potentially devastating combo’s.  Yata, Jinzo, Imp Order, Hades, and Swords all have the potential to almost Single Handedly Win a Duel.   Look closer at my deck and you’ll see I’m going for card Advantage, and I use no equip magic cards.  Eighteen Monsters seems to be the perfect number for me as well.  Anyways, if you have any feedback or you think you can help out my deck at all, please email me these as I’d be happy to know what one might think.  Now, unto my deck and the Tournament

Monsters (18)

Yata-Garasu                             (Yata Lock Bebe, can anyone say STAPLE)

Sinister Serpent                         (Eternal Shield, just can’t be killed (almost).  Fun to use with Graceful Charity)

Fiber Jar                                   (Reset Button!!)

Penguin Soldier                         (Send those darn Tributes back to their Hand, it’s a Hane-Hane on Roids)

Throwstone Unit                       (Great D, tribute it to get rid of most monsters)

Sangan                                     (Gets Yata, Serpent, Fiber, Exiled, etc!!  If you don’t play it, then you have problems!)

Exiled Force                             (See ya Jinzo, Injection, Blue Eyes, whatever!)

Witch of the Black Forest         (Gets almost anything, even JinzoJ, read Sangan above)

Mystic Tomato                         (Help get Sangan or Witch out, but it’s effect can only be activated if it’s destroyed during battle)

Bazoo                                      (Pump, take out almost anything)

Spear Dragon                           (Nice Fairy Meteor Effect, 1900 is nice too!  Potentially game-breaking)

Kycoo the Soul Eater                (Monster Reborn eh, what, who, where, why?  What there’s more, it hurts big Baz and Skull lair:)

Gemini Elf                                (Secret Rare, Tough, few downsides, and these elves look pretty sweet)

Airknight Parshath                     (Fairy Meteor effect, + draw a cardJ)

Zombyra                                  (Strong, can’t attack lp directly sucks, but then again, people are skeptical to play change of heart on him)

Goblin Attack Force                 (Usually a great One hit wonder)

Jinzo                                        (Gravity, Mirror, Torrential, Imperial Whats?)

Dark Ruler Ha Des                    (No effect for you, that means no fiber, witch, sangan, anything, oh,  and smacks up Jinzo)

Magic (14)

Graceful Charity              x2      (Great with Serpent, combo with Reborns!)

Pot of Greed                            (Pot of Awesomeness)

Nobleman of Crossout              (A Raigeki for face down Monsters that will make your opponent regret having played it face-down)

Mystic Space Typhoon             (Takes out that Annoying card!  It can even smack up Imperial Order)

Heavy Storm                            (Sends everything to the Graveyard)

Harpies Feather Duster              (Same as above, but not yours)

Raigeki                                     (Rags have never looked so good)

Dark Hole                                 (Hole of Awesomeness)

Delinquent Duo                         (Great for setting up the Yata Lock)

Forceful Sentry                         (A STAPLE!  Has a Huge Pegasus Millenium Eye effect, and again, sets up Yata)

Monster Reborn                       (Most Popular Card out there, read second part of Sangan.)

Swords of Revealing Light        (Flip that/those cards, can’t strike for 3 turns!, it’s a Waboku gone wild)

Change of Heart                        (Best used with Flip effects, then tribute.  Or else, take Jinzo, and Sacrifice for your own Jinzo)

Traps (8)

Waboku                                   (Saves your monsters, sets up a tribute)

Magic Cylinder                         (Not as reliable as Waboku, but better effect)

Ceasefire                                  (Damage, no flip effects, Rocks Last Turn)

Mirror Force                             (Bam, face ups go to the Shadow Realm)

Torrential Tribute                      (Great desperation card!)

Imperial Order                          (Staple, has few Predators)

Magic Drain                              (2 for 1 card, or a magic stopper)

Call of the Haunted                   (Bring back Jinzo!!  If not, Witch or Sangan!!!)

Side Deck: (15)

Possessed Dark Soul       x3      (Sac him to take control of Jowgen)

Dream Clown                            (Force Opponent to attack)

Prohibition                                (Can’t play that card that your deck so heavily relies upon)

Mystical Space Typhoon x2      (Great vs Clown Control, Gravity bind Decks)

Ready for Intercepting x3          (To counter ‘Last turn decks’)

Seven Tools                              (Stop a Trap card from activating)

Bottomless Trap Hole               (Stops Heavy Hitters ‘for good’, just not Jinzo)

Card Destruction                       (Anti-Exodia)

Creature Swap                          (I’ll give you my serpent, and I’ll take that 6 star monster of yours)

Waboku                                   (I can’t tell you how many times this card has saved my hide!)

This Tourny is held on Sat afternoons in Windsor Ontario, and this particular tournament may or may not be the first of Season 4, seeing as season 3 has just ended.  There are 18 participants, so first 16 play, and 6 of the 8 first round players get drawbacks.  I’ll give my brief commentary on my friend (Marc) as well, as I went there with him, and he’s my go-to guy when it comes to casual dueling.  And now, without further ado, begins the report!

Round 1 (Oh! Vs Big Mike) [clown control]

Game 1 of 2:

Mike is the guy who beat me 2-0 last week, before I got a drawback, and went on to place 3rd, so I was out for Revenge.  In the first Duel, I had my witch out, lost her, and took out Jinzo.  Shortly thereafter, I got Hades out there with swords, then played Graceful, pitched Jinzo, only to Call of the Haunted him.  The 2 (Jinzo/Ha Des) just had their way with my opponent and did their thing to take him out.  Final was 7400 – 0 for me

Game 2 of 2

By winning this game I would have successfully extracted my sweet sweet revenge.  It started with us going monster for Monster.  Eventually he got out Messenger of Peace, and 2 clowns.  Exiled force kept me breathing.  Finally I drew Forceful Sentry, Looked at his hand (thankfully), and he had a Torrential, change of Heart, and Raigeki.  No question, I went with Torrential.  Then I play Dark Hole, and Yata for the Lock, and game!  Final was 3300 – 0 for me!

Meanwhile my friend Marc, playing a similar deck to mine, proceeds to go 2-0 vs an Exodia deck (Bradey), and moves unto the 2nd round!

Round 2 (Oh! Vs Joe:  a.k.a Season 3 champ)    Beatdown

Game 1 of 3

I draw to play vs season 3 champ, so I’m a bit nervous, but confident I could beat him.  He’s the one that beat me in the Semi’s last week, which set me up for a 3rd place finish!  Anyways, duel one, we both have 2 monsters out, I’m being held up by swords, and at the end of turn 3 of swords, we both had 2 monsters on the field, and he snatch steals my Zombyra, sacs him for Jinzo, and smack up my Kycoo and my life points.  Now it’s 6700 – 1500, and my turn.  I play Dark Hole, bring out Gemini elf (and thought I had him from here on, imperial order is down), attack, only to get cylindered for game.  Worst part is I had a Jinzo in my hand, a Witch, and 2 more cards, he had only his cylinder.  Final was 6700 – 0 for him

Game 2 of 3:

I go first, and play Delinquent Duo (love that card), and a Goblin, he discards Gemini Elf and Mystical Space Typhoon.  He plays a face down, and a mirror force.  I draw, and play Nobleman of Crossout, taking out his Cyber Jar.  Then I play Storm on Mirror force.  Yata comes out, so does Goblin attack force.  Then he plays another monster, which I then Raigeki, and proceed to win via the huge Yata-Lock.  Final was 7000 – 0 for me

Game 3 of 3:

I would go on to extract yet again some sweet revenge by winning this duel.  He goes first and plays Gemini Elf, and 2 face down cards.  I play, go pot of greed, Harpies, change of heart, and sac Gem for Jinzo.  He would eventually get rid of Jinzo, but I would play a swords, Imperial his monster reborn, not pay, and play call of the haunted to bring back Jinzo.  I had field and card advantage huge, and went on to win handily enough.  Final was 5700 – 0 for me.

Meanwhile, Marc (my buddy), plays vs a Water Deck guy (Jeff), and wins handily 2-0, the last one being via Yata Lock.  Got love the Lock!

Round 3:  Quarter Finals  (Oh! Vs Big Mike)

Game 1 of 2:

Well, having already beat him in the first round, I knew he’d want his revenge, but I’m no slouch, and I’d play him hard.  He had defeated the Last Turn deck guy in round 2 (Darryl), who won last week with his Last Turn Deck (plays 3 of them, Jowgen 3, Inspection 3).  Anyways, first game, easy easy, swords for each of us, he gets through mine, I delinquent Duo him.  He has 2 clown out, and I change of heart to take his face down one, sac it for Airknight Parshath, Have Zombyra attack his clown, then Airknight takes a swing, and I draw a card.  Next turn, face down, I play Ceasefire, Airknight attacks again, Draw, and then I beat him on the next turn.  Final was 5800 – 0 for me.

Game 2 of 2:

I knew I had him reeling and right where I wanted him, as his nervousness was clear.  I was owning him today, because I simply have a better deck.  Same as all the other games, I destroy more monsters than he, I gain card advantage, Play yata hit him, then he sets Mirror Force and gets yata on the next turn L.  I play nobleman of crossout on his Fiber Jar (he runs 3 of them), I love mine too, but not to worry.  I play Bazoo, and pump for the win.  Final was 7600 – 0 for me!

Meanwhile, my friend played some kid and easily beat him 2 – 0, the kid was playing (F-I-N-A-L) deck (sorry, dunno his name), and had 3 letters down, and L in his hand when the game ended!

Round 4: Semi Finals (Oh! Vs Medium Mike)

Game 1 of 2

No these Mikes aren’t related, and no, I’ve never played this guy in the past, and yes, there’s a Little Mike.  I quickly found out he was playing equip magics when he told me about how he won his last duel with a Hayabusa Dual 3600 attack.  First game, he gets robbin goblin out there around mid duel, and never proceeds to hit me with it once it was out.  I make the worst mistake ever, and it cost me a raigeki, but I still had a dark hole.  I played it to stop his 2 white Magical Hats/ Robbin Goblin combo.  I had Imperial order up for a few turns, and I was down to 700, so I don’t pay, got Airfield knight out there with exiled force, and swords which I had just draws, went on to squeak one for me.  Final was 700 – 0 for me

Game 2 of 2:

He goes first, gets a monster out, and imperial order to stop my nobleman of crossout.  He has it going for a few turn, loses some life, and when he finally doesn’t pay it.  Finally,I hit him hard, and where it hurt.  I played forceful sentry on him, remove his only monsters, Dark hole, Killing my 2 monsters and his 1 face down, then play yata and lock him for game.  Final was 7000 – 0 for me!

Meanwhile, my Friend played a brilliantly constructed burn deck (Jason) with infinite combo’s and went on to beat it.  In the 2nd game, he got yata lock again, but almost got decked beating him with a Monster Reborn on Bazoo, Yata, and 4 cards left in his deck, so ya, with 30 something card in his graveyard, he confidently pumped his bazoo!

Round 5:  Finals  (Oh! Vs Marc the friend)  Card advantage, control Beatdown

Game 1 of 3:

Marc and I know each others deck inside out, and games are often decided by who goes first, who doesn’t make that one mistake, and yata.  First game, we both wish each other the best of luck, although in reality, it’s a false wish cause you obviously wanna win, and them to lose.  Anyways, first game, he goes first and he hits me with a delinquent duo, establishes card advantage, and gets an early Jinzo out when I play heavy storm on his face down trap (call of the Haunted), which he then activates for Jinzo.  I’d eventually get rid of Jinzo, and he cleared my monster field.  Yata comes out, so does monster reborn Jinzo.  Tough hit to take.  Then I play Bazoo, take out Jinzo, and end the turn.  Injection comes out, kills Bazoo.  In the end, he had Injection and Yata, card ad, and game.  Final was 3300 – 0

Game 2 of 3:

This was a back and forth duel, he recycled his witch to get her effect twice.  I know he got a fiber jar, which I noblemaned, and then Injection faily lilly.  Again, I attacted with Gemini elf, forcing him to use his lilly to reduce his life to 900.  So, on his next turn, he flips injection in defense, and plays a card face down.  I’m figuring it’s a penguin, or something, so I play my 2nd nobleman on it, one that I had side-decked when I played in the 2nd round, summon Kycoo, have Gemini attack to take out Lilly (face down), and Kycoo to end the match.  Final was 2700 – 0

Game 3 of 3:

This was quick, so I’ll give a detailed commentary.  We both drew mostly monsters, so he plays Fiber face down, and on my turn I nobleman it, and attack with Witch.  On his turn, he plays Injections, pays the 2k, attacks for 2300 damage, I get witches effect, take bazoo, making the score 5700 – 4900 for me.  He doesn’t have magic/trap cards down, so I draw, play change of heart for Injection, summon big  bazoo, pump it up 2 for fun, and hit him for 5600, for game, and tournament.

So, that’s how the tournament ended, with me placing 1st, and Marc placing 2nd!  I had the satisfaction of knowing that my meticulously constructed deck, combined with my solid dueling skills made me the #1 duelist in the city today.  Another Store holds a tournament on Sundays, but the competition here far supercedes that of the other stores’.  All in all, I went 10-2, as did my friend, losing his only 2 duels in the final.  That’s about it!

Props:

Extracting some satisfying revenge (twice)

Winning some cash

Yata-Locks (twice again)

Becoming a, if not the (guy to beat!)

And Most importantly…..(drum roll), having fun!

Slops:

Getting 4 packs, and a tourney pack, and getting squat!

That’s about it, email me for any deck suggestions or comments.  Hate mail me if you want, it’s all good!  Take care, gl in tourny’s, and have fun!
